Absolutely stunning. I can see why it's on the list of China's best rail journeys. I must admit that I didn't expect the hard class sleeper to look as comfortable as it does, but I did expect the crowding.

Thank you! This journey truly deserves its spot among China’s best rail experiences. The hard sleeper can be surprisingly comfortable, especially if you manage to get a lower bunk.

I so love that your dad was with you. He was so cute with his broken slipper. I'm from Mew Zealand but live in USA. So I miss having my dad around. Blessings to you and your family.

25:51 was the funniest part of the video. i was agreeing with you and then the next moment almost spat out laughing. the train loading onto the ferry was such a unique solution, that was a unique experience.

Welcome back! Glad you enjoyed that moment! 😂 It was frustrating at the time but hilarious in hindsight. That ferry-loading scene was something else-such a clever solution. Definitely one of the highlights of the trip!

Well done, for a very comprehensive video. It certainly shown us a very different side to china that we get fed by the news channels in the UK, Very impressed with all your filming, in sometimes different circumstances. The views were outstanding and your enjoyment of the journey came across in the video.

Another epic slow rail journey and one from one end to the other of the climatic condition spectrum. Fabulous and most rewarding to watch. 👏👏
The elderly are smart in getting out of the cold in far north east and north west to the warmth of the tropical south of China. A geographically advantageous offering that is most cleverly used by millions every winter. Riding on the slow train adds to the sense of anticipation for the balmy weather in HaiNan, I am sure.
Thanks, too, for this video with excellent details on train ferry timing and availability of sleeper berth.
    🎉🎉🎉🙏🙏🙏⛄⛄😎😎👏👏👍👍👍
PS, suggestion for increasing viewer number . Some Chinese captions added for the Chinese diaspora. Many would likely appreciate many of your slow train adventures.

Welcome back! Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment and kind words! 🌟 I love how you’ve captured the spirit of this journey-it really is amazing how geography allows for such a seasonal migration. The slow train ride truly builds that sense of anticipation for the tropical warmth of Hainan. 🌴☀️
I’m glad you found the details about the train ferry and sleeper berths helpful-it’s always a pleasure to share these experiences. 😊
Thank you also for the suggestion about adding Chinese captions. I’ll definitely consider this for future videos to make them more accessible to a wider audience, including the Chinese diaspora. Your support and feedback mean a lot! 🙏🎥

Glad you enjoyed it! Dad's Mandarin is so-so, so it's easier for us to speak Cantonese slang. Plus, once we're out of our hometown, it’s great to have our own coded conversations 😆

Hainan chicken is very famous. I can even find it in restaurants near my house in Southern California that serve that dish. The overhangs on buildings make sense in southern China, where the climate is semi-tropical and tropical with frequent rain. Vendors and street merchants take advantage of that feature by having products displayed there. Taiwan, where I travel to frequently, is the same.

Welcome back and thank you for sharing! 😊 It’s amazing how Hainan chicken has become such a global favorite. 🍗🌴 And yes, those overhangs are such a clever architectural feature, especially in tropical climates. They really bring the streets to life, creating a perfect space for vendors and merchants to showcase their goods. Taiwan is such an incredible place to travel-I especially love the night markets there. They’re always so lively and vibrant!
