- Sometimes, fears become excessive and irrational, to the point where we can’t function normally. The intense worry and avoidance caused by these fears can interrupt day to day living, causing panic when that fear is encountered - that’s when the fear becomes a phobia. There are three types of phobias: social phobia, agoraphobia, and specific phobias. Specific phobias are further grouped into five major categories: environment, situational, animal, blood/injection/injury, and others. In this video, we discuss 7 most common phobias: Cynophobia, Aerophobia, arachnophobia, Ophidiophobia, and Arachnophobia (fear of spiders). If you find this list of phobias, weird, scary or unbelievable, you are not alone. These types of phobias are common phobias. They are phobias you might have or your friends might have them. Do you have a fear of phobias or any specific phobias?

Fun fact about phobias: Some of them may have been passed down to you genetically.
Like an "instinct"? (I just learned about traits and behaviours and thats the only thing close to an "inherited behaviour"
would make sense. both my twin sister and i have emetophobia... however, nature vs nurture is strong, what we witnessed growing up for example, most of the same experiences and shared memories.

Context : Someone I used to hang out with when I was young had cynophobia.
Storytime : My assistant principal used to bring her dog in every friday, I found this very irresponsible because of this person. One time the dog and the assistant principal walked into our class, and this person bursted out in tears and started screaming. She was on the verge of fainting . I hold a grudge against the assistant principal to this day.

I have such a big fear of dogs to the point that when I have to go to my grandparents(they live very close to us) I look left and right and than I run like my life depends on it, or when I see a stray dog I usually cross roads to avoid it but if I have no choice I move extremely slowly so that a person can pass besides me and I walk alongside with them till I can't see the dog, otherwise I walk extremely slowly till I pass the dog than I start walking normally

literally, i used to tell my friends that i had a phobia of germs, and theyd start messing with all my stuff, getting their germs on it. oh, they’re sorry now.
I know I'm late to the party, but one phobia I have that I think is quite common is "brontophobia" or the fear of thunder and lightning. Anytime there's a thunderstorm going on around me, I panic and, once in a blue moon, faint.
I'm sorry, but i hear or see Bronto and immediately think of Brontosaurus.

I’ve got brontophobia too. Idk why but I get irrationally terrified in storms. I think I have a phobia of loud noises in general.
My grandmother had brontophobia... And I think this is one example of phobia that pass genetically... because I shudder when I hear the sound... is too loud...

yup, i have a REALLY EXTREME case of acrophobia and steep stairwells triggers me, as well as bridges and etc. but the most i've been called out for is not going to the top place on the playground slides. it scared me as a child, also escalators too

If I have a phobia, it’s chronophobia, the fear of time, and the passage of it. I’ve always been scared of losing precious moments forever, being forgotten, and growing older, because I know how terrifying the world can really be. I don’t want to deal with the responsibilities that come with being an adult, and though I’m far away from adulthood, my life couldn’t be going faster.

Automatonophobia (fear of human-like statutes) anyone? I was in a museum with my family (my first time) and I suddenly felt so overwhelmed and panicked by all the small/giant neutral colored statues everywhere. It didn't help that no music was playing and the rooms were dimly lit 💀. I started crying and retreated to a corner to face the wall. Long story short, my family had to lead me out by my arm with my eyes shut 🥲

Once I saw a black widow and I told my mom and she tried to poke and it and smash it with a stick and I ran away, but then it RAN AFTER ME, and I screamed. No matter where I went, what turns I took, IT WAS RIGHT ON MY TAIL. Eventually my mom killed it, but I'm super afraid of poisonous spiders so I was scared. I'm also afraid of big and hairy spiders as well, if they're close to my face too.

I have the exact opposite. I love tarantulas and those big fluffy ones but the small fast jumpy ones terrify me because they can run and jump at you so fast.
i have a fear of smileys, like the one that only smile at you- its so creepy it was a struggle to watch the video but i see it as a therapy homework because i go to a therapy (a year ago i always had a panic attack when i see'd smileys so im glad i got a chance to see smileys not that creepy anymore but sometimes i still get panic attacks so its not gone)
Cynophobia is the worst. I turn into a statue whenever a dog gets too close 😭 it's gotten a bit better for me as long as it's not the super hyper jumpy type. My guess is i got it from the time i got jumped by our dog as a child, although i have no memory of it and just found out from stories my parents told, i guess my brain decided it was so bad that it was best to forget it 🤡

People don’t understand that people with a fear of being injected don’t care about the pain. They only care about the fact of being injected with a needle. I mean, some people care about the pain though.
I have that phobia and you are right, it’s also probably because once I got a needle that numbed my whole body and I couldn’t do anything for a week I know it sounds wimpy (because it is) it’s just my opinion/thought
D: i mostly get scared of the needles, I bother get freaked out by the injection and the pain.
I completely agree, for me it’s both though, I used to be okay with needles, I never cried, but one day some dumbass nurses kept giving me injections every 15min and when I tried to stand up I threw up, I’ve been afraid of needles ever since.
Also, I have a fear of pain so it doesn’t help
i used to never be afraid of on needles but one time i got a vaccination where i could feel it going into my body. i nearly passed out and now i'm scared of needles

I have trypanophobia bad. I hadnt had a blood test since I was 17 and when told I really need one Id say “Well if I die tomorrow from something then it was just nature. Im not getting blood drawn”. Finally at 31 I managed to get (held down) a blood test and we found out I was well over 500 blood sugar levels and one step away from a diabetic coma or death. I realize this is a major issue and blood tests are important. It doesn’t hurt either. I can not explain it but when it’s happening I think Im being killed and fight back to “not die”. It really is a handicapping phobia cause anything medical wise requires some form of blood test, IV or injection.
I have Cynophobia (fear of dogs) because they scared me in so many ways when I was very younger… Well, I know that no one ask for it but I’m going to tell you all the stories of HOW i get Cynophobia, well,
Story 1: One day when I was like 3-4 yrs old, i was in kindergarten and my mom came for me, then we go to the house of my aunt, we were waiting outside my aunt to open us the door siege, my mom was hitting the door for make know my aunt to open us so we can enter, but while we were waiting I looked next to me, and there was an adult dog smelling me, I get in panic because I get scared, thank god my mom scare him for get away, that dog was opening his mouth closer me like getting ready for bite me, then we already enter I was still in panic but then my mom calm me, that’s the 1st reason I’m fear of dogs..
Story 2: One normal night at the house of my cousin, when I was 4-5 yrs old, i didn’t liked to much the house of my cousin cause she had an adult female dog, named Doll, I was stand normally a little bit scared by seeing the dog, then the dog started running at me, I started running for escape from her but then I accidentally fell down on the floor, I tried to get up but it was too late, the dog was up of my body seeing me, I get in so much panic seeing her up of my body, then the mom of my cousin or her dad make the dog get away from me, I was crying so much about that, that’s the 2nd reason I’m fear of dogs..
Well, that are the moments that I remember of dogs that scared me, I get traumatized about all that, this days I keep having that fear I am just not fear of baby dogs,

Reason: In the house of my aunt of the 1st story, inside of her house are so much cats, now she haves 20 I think, some of them escaped or get d13d, sometimes I go in her house and I always loved to play with her cats, so like a had more connection with cats, that how I preferred cats, but I respect you if you don’t like cats maybe because you are fear of them, well, I hope you understand me, blessings ! ❤⭐️

I have only a couple of phobias, but my greatest phobia is submechanophobia-the fear of artifical underwater objects. It gets worse when I can't see the object, I can't get close to the boat engines or buoys without anxiety, but it's kinda fine if I see the object.

I don't think there is a phobia for it, but i am absolutely terrified of Orca Whales. I used to go to Seaworld a lot to watch the orca shows, but then a guy broke into the enclosure after closing time and was basically used as a play toy by the orca. i was really little when it happened, but since then, they terrify me.
There actually is a phobia of orcas ! Hope this helps !
The phobia you have could be
Delfiniphobia; the phobia of dolphins- ( orcas are technically classified as dolphins. )
The phobia you've gained could also be Cetaphobia, or the phobia of whales.
I do not have this phobia, however I have Galeophobia ( The fear of sharks. ) And since orcas are normally more dangerous than sharks, I can see why you have this phobia. Also I'm so sorry that happened to you. no kid deserves to see that, I would be petrified.

My list (I would not say I have any of this phobias, in their true meaning, besides the *acrophobia* one. The rest of them are fears that have not gotten to the point of becoming phobias, but I thought I would still list them):
- Acrophobia: fear of heights (this is the only one that is truly a phobia for me. Like a 'phobia' and not only a fear. All those people that do parkour on tall a$s buildings or those that sit on the edge of it? Not even a chance, not even for a million dollars. I just know that I would lose my balance due to stress and fall hahah.)
- Hemophobia: fear of blood (mostly consists in me getting extremely sick whenever I see blood unexpectedly or in large amounts, or anything else that is related to surgery and the human body and its components)
- Cynophobia: fear of dogs (I was chased by a playful dog at the beach when I was 13. As his owner knew he was only playing, he did not react rapidly to me screaming, and it is safe to say I did not expect an unknown dog to chase me and even less without no one doing something.)
- Entomophobia: fear of insects (it would be useless to start telling y'all how I react when insects attack me or, worse, when they are anywhere on my body. This one might turn into a real phobia if I'll find one of those little multi-legged things crawling on me again.).
- Thalassophobia: fear of drowning/deep water (I'm still debating whether it is only a fear or a true phobia at this point).

I've always had the fear of needles, but my diabetes is forcing me to get over that fear. It really sucks poking my fingers to draw blood several times a day and getting injections every time I want to eat.

My mom has had a fear of snakes since young when another child threw snakes at her as a prank. She doesn't like them even up to today.
I have hemophobia (phobia of bl00d) and the other week I was riding my bike and fell into the road, luckily I didn’t get hit but had bl00d running down my leg and on to my shoe. I used to be afraid to poop too so I tried to hold it in 24/7 then I ended up pooping my pants in kindergarten
My next door neigboor had a weiner dog named mustard when I was little, he was a rescue from a family who abused and underfed him for extreme amounts of time (he's very healthy now if any one was wondering). The majority of said abuse came from a kid, about my age at the time, who also looked like me. Needless to say, everytime he saw me he'd go into a frenzy barking and growling and it really scared me as a kid. It took him almost 7 years to trust me enough to even be within 9 feet of me and now (since I don't really look like that kid anymore) he isn't nearly as loud to me as he used to be. But the fear that was engrained in me at such a young age is still with me so now whenever I see a dog on the sidewalk, I move all the way to the curb to avoid it, no matter how friendly its supposedly is.

I suffer from emetophobia (fear of vomiting/vomiting situations) and my family could not be more rude about it. Whenever my brother pretends to be vomiting, or if someone in my house is actually sick, I find myself avoiding the places thay they've been, including bathrooms, couches, chairs, etc. My heart rates skyrocket and my chest pounds and I'm pretty sure I'm having a panic attack whenever I feel sick.

Holes freak me out I almost had a panick attack once
I know someone who claims she has this phobia recently but many times in the past she didn’t mind so I don’t think she really has it. Also she sometimes doesn’t always act scared of them like she forgets she has a phobia of it so she definitely heard it somewhere and just decided she wanted it I guess. I don’t know though. She really likes attention so whenever she sees a picture with holes she will just stare at it and screech until people ask her what’s wrong....like I think of she really had it she would try to get away from it. I have heard of this phobia before and I can’t say she doesn’t have it cause she might. But if she doesn’t then I feel like it’s kinda rude for people who do have it cause their phobias should be taken seriously and not be thrown around.
When I watch this video, I realized that _“Trypophobia” (Fear of holes and things inside them.)_ isn’t in the list. I thought it was common. But, it isn’t common, maybe uncommon or rare.

When I was younger, there was an incident of 3 dogs chasing me while I was returning home from (Elementary) school. I had cynophobia for 2 years, until we adopted a dog. Because the dog was obviously friendly with me as my pet, the phobia became less strong. Now I only fear dogs when alone with them and the feeling is not so intense. Also, I am completely fine with injections and I don't have a slight fear of them.

I’m not scared of loud noises, don’t think I’m just trying to seem cool either. I’m serious, I don’t know why I have no feared reaction to them. It’s even weirder about the fact how I’m fine with it and would usually like to hear things loudly. If you’re talking bout jump scare type of loud noises I’m not scared of those either, but certain pitches get to me. Like if you try to scare me with loud noises by surprising me it wouldn’t work but if it’s not surprising but there is a certain pitch it effects me and makes me feel icky and weird. ;-; don’t ask me what the hell is going on with me cause I honestly don’t know

I suffer from nyctophobia(fear of the dark)it’s really scary in Cuba especially when I was a baby. I don’t like the fact that I had to suffer from this, my mom always tells me to keep your head up. Thus,I have to go to my moms room sometimes or I have to turn the lights on ti sleep! So the only way for me to sleep is to close my eyes take a deep breath and sleep normally until dawn.
