They never understand what it is I'm afraid of and try to cure me by saying some shit I've been thinking for years like they're the first ones to think it.

I also have it and agree completely. The whole 'face your fears' thing is a bit different when it's not just a fear and is a full-on phobia. People keep talking about the guy in the grey shirt and saying he is trying to get them to overcome it, but I think when it's a phobia, a therapist needs to be the one to help them with the exposure and response prevention because there are steps and things you have to do to do it safely and effectively.
Omg same I have it to and it gets in the way of things, for example long bus journeys as someone might throw up and I get terrified. But, I just can’t seem to get rid of it and I have had it for my whole life so far.

@@simonmurray1557 im not regarding the fear itself, im regarding the people and his approach. Bruh half these people stem their fears from trauma. Not handled correctly can have worse effects.
Grey shirt guy is the type of dude to say, "Well just stop being anxious" because that's literally what hes doing. Lack of complete empathy doesn't make you the right support network.
Exposure is literally the only way to overcome phobias, the fact he managed to get several of these people to do the stuff they did even though their fears is progress. It's not making it worse or so, it's the only way to treat it, the other option is you'll be scared of this for your life.
@@Ashuowl A lot of times exposure can actually worsen phobias, particularly if the phobia is tied to a traumatic experience. Just because people can get through it for a video does not mean they got through it unscathed.
@@em9845 The only way to fight it is with exposure. Maybe it can worsen the phobia briefly, but it wont be forever if you keep exposing yourself. There's really only 2 options, avoid it for the rest of your life or take the bull by the horns. But for the video or not, you could clearly see that the guy with arachnophobia wasn't willing to even be near the spider except when it was with the big guy, so I sincerely don't think he did it for the video but it was more that he felt safer with him, pretty much he was the only one that managed to allow them to take the bull by the horns, cotton girl refused with everyone so not all of them were willing to expose themselves.
I lived with social anxiety for a long time now and my dayli exposure helped me a lot. I started this exposures ( like going out in the streets, go to malls, sit in a cafe) 9 Month ago and yesterday i was on a concert surrounded by people and i had fun. It is still hard work to get my mind set up for this, but the fact that i didnt get nervous, breathless, sweating like hell goes down to zero without medication showed me that exposure to your fears can cure you. All you need is patience other wise it will not work. I can tell you that because at the beginning i made a step too far and that really brought me down again, slow steps and it will work. :)
The dude asking the girl to touch the vomit was crazy. even if you don’t have a phobia of vomit, that would still be disgusting since it went through that girl’s mouth.
@@everyonesfavoritecaptain335 yeah but he wasn't respecting that people were scared or grossed out by the things and he was laughing at the girl who was grossed out by vomit
I understand the emetophobia so much. It’s terrfiying to me. I do not think people understand how horrible this fear can be. It stops me from going out, and doing anything were v* could be the outcome. I will have full-blown panick attacks and when the grey shirt guy undermined the phobia i was upset.
The last time I had to “face my phobia” I had an actual panic attack. Props to these guys, I would have embarrassed myself so bad if I was in this video
My sister has a fear of vomiting and the guy who was mocking that girl with the same fear made my blood boil cause I'm super overprotective of my sister.
the dude with the gray shirt, i feel like he is trying to help, with a joke and all, trying to ease tension but sometimes by forcing them to face it suddenly, is probably too overwhelming for them
They didnt have to do any of it from the looks of those who did face the phobia example the one whos scared of spiders or heights. they didnt have to do it but they chose to.
I'm extremely scared of rats once i was walking by the Disney store rigth when ratatouille came out and they had this huge rat plush doll (?) outside, OMG I started to freak out in the middle of the mall. It was horrible.
no more like the type of guy to help you challenge whatever you may going through so you can eventually feel more at peace of mind with it. whoever liked this comment is just too afraid to face their fears, insecurities, anxieties or whatever may be plaguing their mind directly. I used to be depressed and and thanks to his attitude that got me past it. stop making excuses for yourself
@@dancingdoungnut people going through such things like a phobia or depression aren't making up excuses, or just being cowards, they're actually facing huge problems, that you just showed you don't know anything about
@@dancingdoungnut Phobia is not fear, for example: if you see a horror movie you might experience fear for some short periods of time, but someone with Claustrophobia can start getting worried af/panicking/hyperventilating just by noticing they're in a closed room, it didnt took half of the work that the horror movie production had to make a zombie make up and a teasing soundtrack at all, just one door closing can start a reaction way beyond the "you just need to concentrate and there's nothing to be afraid of" line
I can completely understand the girl with emetophobia. I have it too and it has such a big impact on my life. Whenever I even think of having a belly ache or vomit I start to feel sick and nauseous. This has gotten so bad that I avoid certain places and situations because I know that I or someone I know has felt nauseous there. I hate theaters, shopping centers, trains, busses and long rides and I try to avoid them as much as possible just because I'm afraid to get sick. I always have medication and water on me "just in case", even if I never really vomit (I haven't puked in like 7 years). Even writing this makes me nauseous. I'm actually glad that there are people sharing my fear, but I'm also sad that there are a lot of people not believing and not understanding it exists. I hope this comment creates a bit of awareness around this fear because it's something more than a fear. It's like a curse to me.
Hibah Hussain I have emetophobia too. I thought it was rude when the guy in the grey shirt laughed at her for saying vomit is gross. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t think vomit is gross.
@Hibah Hussain same. I can't even bear it when they say it, I'll burst into tears 😑 Most of the rlly insensitive boys in my class would do those noises to annoy me, I would usually kick them in the balls! I usually do that to boys who annoy me tho ;-;
Hibah Hussain I have too. Nobody believes me tho.they just say nobody likes being sick and I’m like. You don’t shake or have a panic attack when you are or it do you?
Oh hell nah, I have majority of these phobias so most of this whole video is uncomfortable for me, but I literally started gagging, tearing up and shaking when the vomit part happened and had to look away and shield my eyes from the screen and take my headset off. That is the one thing I absolutely cannot deal with. I don't know how she handled that so well especially in person so props to her.
I don’t wanna sound patronising but everyone who faced their phobia like woman climbing ladder and guy with spider and woman with bunny I’m so proud of like Damn the courage that takes man 😱😭
Maybe it sounds stupid, but those things are all conected to mental strength. All of those people can get through their phobia, if they just believe. I went through fear for deep water and heights just by keeping it cool and keep on fighting them, like I never had those phobias to begin with. Just believe in yourselves, guys, it'll be worth it!!
The girl with the cotton phobia describing how her teeth hurt when she touches it is one of the symptoms of autism or sensory processing disorder or something of that nature, I have similar issues with stuff like uneaten food on plates or the smell of dishwater or certain textures making me physically vomit and need to get out of the room. It can be almost anything and even being close to it can be physically painful - if you’re struggling with it, don’t be afraid to go see someone about it and do a bit of research on SPD and sensory overload, understanding what triggers it and why can go a long way in making it more manageable
Oh shit really? I have a list of a ton of things, sounds and textures that make my teeth hurt and cause other physical reactions for no reason, I had no idea it could be a symptom of something. I thought I was just weird. I’ll have to look into it more, thanks for commenting this!
Keep suggesting this and soon half the people in a county will say they have autism. You can't use one vague example to replicate an entire mental composition the mortal mind may have. You are ignoring other issues by making every single answer into Autism, or Adhd.
@@WitchKing-Of-Angmar suggesting better education? I’m not saying everybody with these symptoms have those disorders, but if it is at a point where it is impacting your daily life, it might be good to look into these things, seek help and go for a professional opinion. People shouldn’t self-diagnose, but they should be aware of the correlations between certain symptoms and certain disorders, especially if it impacts them, and keep an eye on their health and why their body/brain does what it does overall. Self-diagnosis should not be done, but learning about what affects your life and why is always important and can make a difference to a lot of lives.
vomit is gross idk why they were like "will u touch it" cuz I don't have a phobia and I still would not volunteerly go near or touch vomit its just gross
The phobia of cotton seems actually more like a sensory sensitivity thing to me. Like I’m not afraid of cotton balls, and I use them, but I totally get that “my teeth hurt” thing from other sounds/sensations, and every time I’ve experienced that feeling it was sensory sensitivity. Which is connected with ADHD and Autism, so it truly cannot be “cured”. When grey shirt guy said to her about she prefers to avoid things rather than face them head on, it brought back so many memories of people telling me to just “act normal” as if I could just re-write how my brain works and my DNA through sheer willpower. I understand he’s coming from a place of trying to help but damn that gave me some flashbacks
I would be shaking, CRYING, and having the largest anxiety attack if someone threw up near me like that. She was anxious, but she was a trooper.
For real… literally when she started gagging I had to physically get away from my phone
when that person came with a bucket i already knew what was coming and started getting anxious, that girl is so strong for facing it like that

Grey shirt guy is the type of dude to say, "Well just stop being anxious" because that's literally what hes doing. Lack of complete empathy doesn't make you the right support network.
LOL that’s exactly it!!! Acting as though being completely devoid of empathy means he’s a good support system when it’s actually the exact opposite.
The guy in the grey shirt tried to cure them by saying that it's nothing to be afraid of but they've probably had that phobia for most of their life.
I'm sure most of them are fine after this lol, but you really never know.

@Noble Six your pfp is trippy

Maybe it sounds stupid, but those things are all conected to mental strength. All of those people can get through their phobia, if they just believe. I hate climbing ladders. When I get to the top and just stand there, and look in the distance, it seems like the ladder is falling
