So I have been golfing for probably 20yrs but the last 5 pretty consistently and have been a mid handicap player for a long while. I’ve always been very inconsistent with the driver, not bad with the irons and so so around the green. I could never figure out why some day I could crush my irons and other days I couldn’t hit the ball to save my life. I watched Tom’s video on grip and swing and at first I thought “this guy is a lunatic, there is no way he knows what he’s talking about” then I started to actually listen to what he was saying about the driver and irons and swinging them the same and keeping your weight forward and pointing the shoulder and it was all really logical. I went out later that day and shot 1 under , added probably 20yds to my irons with incredible height, accuracy and spin and started crushing my driver more consistently. I went out again yesterday and, with the exception of one hole where I doubled, shot 4 over, with the double 6 over. I still hit the ball really well and straight and I’m amazed at how easy it was from watching 1 video. Tom, you are a crazy genius and I appreciate your willingness to help and continue to make content that can help anyone hit the ball well. Keep up the great work. It would be great to get a video on hitting from different lies too, ball above and below feet, uphill downhill, mix of the two....

Great video. I have been using your swing for a couple months now. I dont fully have it down, but I am way more consistent and confident in my golf game than I was before. I will get where I am hitting par with occasional bogey soon, I can feel it. And now my back doesn't hurt for a week after 18 holes.
David - I'm thrilled to learn of your body-friendly success and your resulting enjoyment of this great game!! THAT is what this channel and my online school are really all about!! Keep up the great work! Tom
The one thing I think about sometimes, is that the target is about 1 inch in size. Therefore, very small inconsistencies will cause very dramatic results in the quality of the shot. (or you might even miss the ball entirely) So holding that in mind, I try to observe what "little thing" I might have done incorrectly. It is usually this "little thing" that is bringing down the entire swing rather than something major. Nice teaching Tom, keep up the great instruction!
That's so spot on, Michael! We mishit one or two and suddenly we find ourselves retooling the entire swing and creating many new problems... Thanks! Tom
One of the best golf lessons ever yes ever , if you do not get good ball contact the rest of the swing is irrelevant, just wish I had seen this years ago.
Great job, Joey! Great job, Tom as well. Clearly you're a skilled one-on-one instructor in addition to making very nice golf instruction videos. Well done!

Joey is going places in this great game, he has the best teacher in you Tom, I will put this one into practice too although I'm not a beginner golfer..🤣🏌️♀️🤗
with all these tips I can hit around 275 yrds on the range now which is around 300 yards on the course, heheh. And I can fade or even draw it..I try to remember to keep weight 60/40 on left side at address and when I start the back swing I remember the pully tip Tom gave and put more weight on the left side so my left knee bends down towards the ball and my left shoulder points towards the ground and my right knee goes straight. I start the down swing by moving my hips towards the target, but not turning them, very important not to turn them, then pull down hard hard on the right side with my arms, the pully going the other way, and swing smoothly keeping head still and keeps arms straight throuigh the hit and beyond.Works a treat, but you need to practise hard.:)
Awesome, purple teddy - simply awesome!! I'm glad that pulley system feel is working well for you. It really is a great one for keeping the swing centered and coordinating the actions of the various moving parts. Well done!! Thanks for sharing and keep it crispy!! Tom
@@richardjames8728 copy what I said above.,trevino gave a good tip as well, think of your left side pusing up against a wall and keeping the left side pushing up against the wall the entire swing
Just picked up watching your videos my favorite iui s the driver video stop transferring weight to the back and left 60 %forward at address bam great contact I always thought you had to shift.thanks great lesson.
Thanks Garry! "Weight forward" is one of the three basic components of the Stack & Tilt swing method I teach. The others are "shoulder down" and "hands in". I'm glad you enjoyed the lesson video! Tom
@@SagutoGolf been catching up taking these tips to the range just did the chest down no other thought and I was hitting straight and great contact a few fat ones mostly because I got fast .thanks again
It's simple, Ted - just visit saguto.golf From there you can choose the monthly option for $14.99 or the annual option for $149.99 (16% savings over monthly). Thanks, and I look forward to seeing you in the school! Tom
Hi Graeme, No matter which club you are swinging, in the backswing the lead knee always works straight down in the direction established at address - which should be flared slightly outward towards the target. This keeps the weight forward and the swing center intact. Any inward movement of the lead knee will shift the center and low point backwards. This can lead to inconsistency and may also cause some discomfort to the knee. This lesson video may offer further explanation: ua-cam.com/video/1OSKMF8X_zQ/v-deo.html TS
Really enjoying your videos. As many say on your comments I am in the process of changing my swing. What about this net and mat? I would like to have a backyard set up with this equipment. Can you share where to get this mat and set up?
I truly appreciate your kind words and I am very glad the instruction on my channel has benefited your swing!! The mat I use is a Real Feel 3' x 5'. As for the net, it is a DIY job. We then redeployed an existing net that we had and made some other minor PVC support structure modifications to suit our needs. Hope that helps! Tom
Great tips and simplification of the swing.👍 I've had with quite a solid result except for the direction flight. With my irons, I always shoot à little to the left. I'm right handed. With my woods, it goes slightly to the right.... The faster the downspeed, the worst it is...🙄 Very difficult to correct.

I've watched videos of his swing and of him talking about it. He was absolutely a legend! While the Stack & Tilt method I teach is indeed a single plane swing, it is definitely different from Moe Norman's and for this reason I am not inclined to do a video comparing two methods as it would certainly lend itself to confusion. This should not be construed as a knock against Moe's renowned ball striking prowess or the instructors who teach his style; it's simply that components of these swings are not compatible with S&T. Thanks, Tom
@@SagutoGolf Thanks for your reply Tom. Very well said. I've seen demonstrations of Moe's swing and though tempted (who wouldn't like to hit the ball as good as Moe) it's too radical and would take years to get remotely close to hitting the ball as good as Moe. He is a one off and damn impossible to replicate. Keep up the good work Tom.
The stack and tilt is fairly similar to the one plane teaching you see on youtube. Not the strict Moe Norman style but the ones teaching elevated hands at address and a setup in an impact position. Tom....what do you think about having your hands elevated at address similar to DeChambeau or even like Steve Stricker? Do you see a benefit of this? I've always had mine lower or more of a 2 plane setup.
Hi Marty - I delve into the finer points of the swing such as this in my online school. Handle height at address does indeed affect ball flight, and this is addressed in Stack & Tilt teaching. All other things being equal, in this swing method that I teach a higher handle - i.e.: butt of the club pointing at the belt buckle - is more conducive to producing a draw, and a lower handle height is typically supportive of a fade. Thanks, Tom

This may be a bit off subject Tom, but do you much analysis of various professionals? Have you looked looked at Stacy Lewis much? I fall in love with that woman every time she swings a club.
You may have to clear that with Stacy's husband, Carl!....😆 I've posted some episodes on my channel featuring recent PGA Tour winners including DJ, Rahm, Michael Thompson, JT, and Morikawa. In these videos I focus on a particular element of their swing and how it may be of benefit - or even of detriment - to the typical amateur golfer. I'll likely do more of these whenever I believe the content will be of value to my students, subs, and guests. Thanks, Tom
@@SagutoGolf - I totally understand that "love" you feel for LPGA players. I think of someone like Anna Norvquist swinging the club beautifully and strutting to her next shot full of confidence. Imagine being married to a woman who can play golf like that! It would be intimidating even to a guy as good as you are on the golf course. How would it feel to know you were going to get your butt beat every time you go out?
Good news - Ball striking greatly improves with this method (S&T). Bad news - It causes me tremendous back pain after only a few shots. Look closely at the separation between the forward knee and trailing deltoid - spine twists dramatically. I'm 53 and was injured in Iraq. I wish I could use this swing method.
J Alsept - There should not be any uncomfortable twisting motion of the spine in this swing if properly executed. In fact, on my YT channel and here in the online school I continue to receive the same types of testimonials. This weekend I just received a message from a 56 year-old doctor in this regard. Here's an excerpt from his post: " _I took on board your stack and tilt advice because I primarily wanted to judge the strain it put on your back, and you were absolutely correct in stating that it was minimal. However, I also achieved a new found consistency, which has frankly astonished me._ " It is very important to remember that the videos, lessons, and drills on this free channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, and common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. We absolutely want to swing "through" the ball and not hit at it, but for good compression we do need to take a little turf after it. Our divots should be "bacon strips, not pork chops" as Moe Norman said...

Great video. I have been using your swing for a couple months now. I dont fully have it down, but I am way more consistent and confident in my golf game than I was before. I will get where I am hitting par with occasional bogey soon, I can feel it. And now my back doesn't hurt for a week after 18 holes.

Very helpful.
nice work. I was looking for this content
Well done Joey. He's making great contact. Definitely crispy clean.

When you put your wait over the Ball do you push your knee straight out or behind the ball
Hi Graeme,
No matter which club you are swinging, in the backswing the lead knee always works straight down in the direction established at address - which should be flared slightly outward towards the target. This keeps the weight forward and the swing center intact. Any inward movement of the lead knee will shift the center and low point backwards. This can lead to inconsistency and may also cause some discomfort to the knee.

We used this video as a starting point: ua-cam.com/video/-p11qs4E2T0/v-deo.html. We then redeployed an existing net that we had and made some other minor PVC support structure modifications to suit our needs.

Tom
Can you make a video where you compare your swing to Osthuisens or Morikawa? I think it would be very good to see that
Great tips and simplification of the swing.👍
I've had with quite a solid result except for the direction flight. With my irons, I always shoot à little to the left. I'm right handed.
With my woods, it goes slightly to the right....
The faster the downspeed, the worst it is...🙄 Very difficult to correct.

Tom have you ever been tempted to study Moe Norman's one plain swing?
I've watched videos of his swing and of him talking about it. He was absolutely a legend!
While the Stack & Tilt method I teach is indeed a single plane swing, it is definitely different from Moe Norman's and for this reason I am not inclined to do a video comparing two methods as it would certainly lend itself to confusion. This should not be construed as a knock against Moe's renowned ball striking prowess or the instructors who teach his style; it's simply that components of these swings are not compatible with S&T.
Thanks,
Tom
@@SagutoGolf Thanks for your reply Tom. Very well said. I've seen demonstrations of Moe's swing and though tempted (who wouldn't like to hit the ball as good as Moe) it's too radical and would take
years to get remotely close to hitting the ball as good as Moe.
Thanks,
Tom

You may have to clear that with Stacy's husband, Carl!....😆
I've posted some episodes on my channel featuring recent PGA Tour winners including DJ, Rahm, Michael Thompson, JT, and Morikawa.
When I was primarily teaching private in-person lessons the majority of my students were in their 60's, 70's, and 80's with a variety a variety of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back surgeries, and joint replacements, and they were overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them.
However, I also achieved a new found consistency, which has frankly astonished me._ "
