  • How to hit the most reliable shot in golf - the POWER FADE. Learn the legendary golf shot that Jack Nicklaus used frequently to be successful on the tour , THE POWER FADE. The Jack Nicklaus Power Fade is one of the best golf shots that you can use to your advantage on the golf course. There's a reason it's one of the most trusted shots used by Jack Nicklaus and other PGA Tour Pros - it's deadly ACCURATE and, as the name suggests, SUPER POWERFUL.
    What I love about the Jack Nicklaus POWER FADE is that you can swing as hard as you want and know that it's going to be in play. With that kind of confidence, you can step up to the tee and FEARLESSLY RIP IT while your golfing buddies stand there in tears from the sheer awesomeness they just witnessed off of your driver face.
    The Jack Nicklaus Power Fade is very simple to execute and doesn't require any swing changes - just a couple of minor setup adjustments and you're ready to FULLY SEND IT to the target with the WRATH OF GOD.

Whether you are a seasoned golfing veteran looking for a quick swing tune-up after an on-course emergency, or a beginner just looking to get the most out of your golfing experience, I am here to help you achieve your golfing goals.
    My mission as your swing doctor is simple, to help you maximize your enjoyment in game of golf. Because, let’s face it, golf is a hard game.
    My philosophy is wholly based on the student having a fun, meaningful experience in a frustrating and complicated game where potential lifelong golfers either quit because it is too difficult or that they experience some form of swing-related pain or discomfort. I mitigate these problems by focusing entirely on the student’s needs and goals while teaching a golf swing method that ultimately takes stress off of the common pain areas of the swing.

    Ok Wildman, I made a conscious effort to set up and hit the power fade this morning. It worked! My carry on the first hole was 236 and the second hole carried 271. Similar results on every hole. On holes that called for a draw, I set my feet up opposite from the fade, and again it worked!! BTW I will turn 73 in December⛳️. 🏌🏼👍

      SagutoGolf Thanks Tom for the lesson! I watched it just before leaving for an eight o'clock tee time and was able to transfer what you demonstrated to the course. The course was wet from a heavy dew, and no doubt would have rolled further if dry. As an aside, my second shot on the par 5 landed in the middle of the green. Maybe the best back to back shots I've ever made! Missed getting an eagle, but got a birdie. Keep up the good work Wildman🏌🏾

    Thank you Tom. Your explanation and details of the push power fade are fun to watch; easy to understand; and most excellent. Yo Wildman, love your power fade instruction. Generally hit the draw but at times push right. Based upon your instruction, started to utilize the proverbial “power fade.” I really felt the full power of the hand of Thor. It was outstanding. Hit every fairway. The key was swinging more on plane. By swinging on plane, it really allowed me to drop in and unleash the right arm of Thor. I utilized my same slight draw stance, aimed a little left of center fairway and moved ball just a little forward. Wow, never felt stronger and more powerful. First time that I really understood and felt what Hogan meant by claiming to want three right arms. It was awesome, great job.

      *AWESOME!!* 💪💪 I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play. And yes - once you've got the setup properly established you can really go after it with confidence that the ball is going to behave and stay on the short grass. And now you know why so many Tour players - who can obviously draw it on demand - use the power fade as their go-to shape off the tee.
      Thanks so much for validating this lesson with your results and keep up the great work!!

    Lee Trevino quote “you can talk to a fade but a hook won’t listen !” I never change my stance but I do aim slight left then I aim the face of the club at the target. I’ve taught it this way but students still persist in coming outside to in at first. After practicing a bit they start getting really good a it letting the open face do the work. 😉👍

    Hello Mr. Saguto, I would usually start a lot of my shots on line of my target but had a problem turning them over and had a big problem with consistency with my long irons 4, 5, on long par 3's. A few months ago I decided to change my right hand grip to a more neutral position because I found out at set up my clubface was closed. My right hand would sit more towards the side with space between my thumb and pointer finger. I found out after some research that both V's from both hands need to line up and the thumb and pointer finger of right hand need to be pinched together. After doing this the clubface sits square but I've been hitting some really fat shots. I went out and played the other day and tried something different. I practice the one plane swing but because of the issues I was having I decided to go from my usual set up to a fade set up, to start hitting fades. Before grip change I was having trouble fading the ball, even now there's not as much fade but I noticed I was hitting the ball more solid and surprisingly just as far. wedges I could still use old swing. but everything else I hit fades and I hit some nice long irons into greens on par 3's. I'd like to go back to my draw or improve this swing because one problem was control with my driver off the tee. I didn't hit a lot of fairways but didn't miss them by much and sometimes I still have iron shots that slice instead of fade.

I even won long drive in a scramble outing with a 316yd poke. My last round was a pretty smooth 77 from 6300yds. The shot works. For this power push-fade I move the ball back a little (relative to my standard driver setup) to ensure that I'm contacting it while the club is still approaching on it's in-to-out path. Play around with it a bit at the range to find the ideal ball position that works with your swing.

    Excellent video! Correct me if I am wrong Saguto but you really need to rotate hard through this shot to make ball fade while still swinging in to out? If you don't rotate the ball will go straight or draw. You and Milo Lines have this shot mastered and I am trying hard to learn this shot. Must be nice to keep hitting that building at 350 yards!

    • @SagutoGolf

      There's no need to turn hard through this shot, Kelly. Simply align the clubface at your intended stating line, adjust your stance (both feet, shoulders, hips) for the desired amount of curvature, and swing along the foot line. Ball position must be such that impact occurs when the path is still coming from the inside.

    Tom - was on the simulator today trying this, and I could only do what you did on that second shot (except there was no shed to hit 🤣). Any tips on getting it to turn over to the right? For this to work, do you want the face to be open to the in to out path? Thanks.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 роки тому

      Well, Jack - I suppose there are worse problems than fighting a chronic push-draw.....😂😂
      Just like I say in the video, shift your entire stance line to the left (for a right handed player). Don't just open your front foot; instead adjust your entire body line - feet, hips, shoulders - to the left. Keep the clubface aimed on the desired starting line, which should now be oriented to the right of your open stance line. From there you can just to make your normal swing along your stance line. You should catch the ball on the in-to-out side of the arc just as you would for a push draw, but based on the adjustments you've made the ball should start straight on the clubface line and fade towards the desired final target. Properly executed the degree of stance openness will determine the amount of curvature.
      If you are still having difficulties then try making minor adjustments to ball position and stance line until the ball starts behaving as desired.

    In order to strike the ball on the backside of the swing arc where do you position the ball in your stance? Thanks

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 роки тому +1

      Once you have the downswing working properly, Chris, ball flight rules - aka shot shaping - are a function of clubface as it relates to path and target line. Clubface relative to target line dictates the ball's starting line, and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature. So to strike the ball on the backside of the arc simply means that the ball is positioned sufficiently back where to face is still approaching it from the inside (i.e.: before the zero point after which it turns the corner back to the inside).
      FYI, I just added a course on the Shot Shaping Grid to my online school. • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 роки тому +1

      Hi GENZ - When playing the stock push-draw shot for the swing that I teach, I do advocate a clubface that is slightly open to the target line and closed to the in-to-out downswing path. Ball flight shaping is a function of clubface as it relates to path and target line. Clubface relative to target line dictates the ball's starting line, and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature. While these flight rules were certainly on display in this video, I get into them in far more detail in my online school: saguto.golf/p/golf-swing-simplified-tom-saguto-pga

    Hi Tom how’s it going? I know you stress to cover the lead thumb in the grip but ever since I started doing it my swing has felt awful and I haven’t pured a iron in so long, could it be that I’m not putting to much pressure against the club with that thumb?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 роки тому

      Hi Presley - Are you referring to my grip lesson video here?: ua-cam.com/video/g-Oue2IWbd4/v-deo.html
      I recommend that the thumbs of both hands not rest directly on top of the handle, nor should they apply any force into it as this will result in tension, affect the action of the hands and wrists in the swing, and lead to a host of other problems. The heel pad of the lead hand is what sits on top of the club's grip. The only thumb-related pressure point I advocate is the pad of the trail hand pushing *_slightly_* downward - and I do mean *_slightly_* - where it folds on top of the lead thumb. Beyond that, as I demonstrate and reinforce in the video - the grip is primarily held in the last three fingers of the lead hand and the middle and ring fingers of the trail hand.
      I hope this helps!

    Tom i hope you can answer this...i have a Callaway Rogue that i have been struggling with. I hit a lot of low left shots, then a few straight shots, but mostly all over the place. So, i went to the garage and found a TM 2009 Burner, and put it in the bag. This past weekend i used it Sat and yesterday. I hit very drive well. Nice high straight and far. Several were crushed. After Saturday i pulled my Epic 5 wood and replaced it with TM Burner and hit 3 nice shots yesterday. Is all this technology a lot of crap. It sure seems that way.

      Rich - Any technology can be "crap" if it's not properly suited to you and your swing. If you can bomb your Burner, then there's no reason you can't hit the Rogue every bit as well and probably better if it's professionally fitted in terms of shaft, loft, and movable weight configuration. That would be my suggestion to help you fall in love with your new technology!

      Hi Edward,
      An "open stance" conjures up the notion that the trail leg is set square to the target line and the front leg is set open to it. With the push-fade demonstrated here, our total alignment - feet, knees, hips, shoulders - is to the left (for a right handed player) and the face is set - *_and the club is then gripped_* - open to that alignment, the degree of which is dependent upon the amount of curvature desired. Then we simply swing along our body line and trust that our setup will produce the desired shot shape.

      Well, Gerard, yours is not a terrible "problem" - in fact I would say that it's something we have in common!! Anyway, you've got part of this power fade equation correct because it is a push-fade. Just keep tweaking your stance line and club face to get the ball starting and curving where you'd like. Remember - once you have the downswing working properly and approaching from the inside, ball flight rules - aka shot shaping - are a function of clubface as it relates to path and target line. Clubface relative to target line dictates the ball's starting line, and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature.

      With regard to your tendency to pull, oftentimes this can occur when the lateral sliding of our hips towards the target - which must occur from the start of the downswing through impact - quits to early. This failure enables the rotational component to take over, rerouting the club across the line and sending the ball to pull city. Have a look at this video for a bit more on the topic: ua-cam.com/video/x1IudE_9e5g/v-deo.html

So if we set the face towards the left half of the fairway and angle our stance line slightly open to it we should expect a drive that finds the center or right half of the short grass. And if we happen to make a "mistake" and hit a straight ball, well then we're still in the fairway!

      Hi Scott - I am unable to tell you definitively without seeing you swing with both clubs. Sometimes the loft of the 3W is better suited to a player's swing speed, sometimes the stock shaft in an unfitted driver is the culprit, sometimes we make more direct contact with the 3W and hit the driver with a glancing blow. There are numerous of possibilities; those are just a few of the more common scenarios.

    A number of teachers advocate the club face to be closed to the target line but open to the club path or the second stick. What say you?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 роки тому

      According to ball flight laws the shot shape produced by the condition you are suggesting would be a pull-fade or pull-slice. The shot shape I'm teaching in this lesson is a powerful push-fade in which we are making contact while the club is still approaching the ball on an inside path.

    You do realize that 90 percent of the people watching your videos are not bombing it 280 to 300 plus right, (some think they are, they aren't) so a slight fade at 210 to 220 may find the fairway, but its not a bomb, unless you like a smoke bomb like that, that you can buy at your friendly SC roadside store, lol ;)

      Yes, they are. During the take away make a wider arc. It will keep the driver coming in from too much inside, and you won't be able to wrap it around your body, and the clubface should face the target. Those two things should help reduce the left to right sidespin.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 роки тому +1

      Hmm.... What manner of golf sages are your friends to be judging YOUR swing? I assume they've got their own games all figured out and have nothing but time on their hands to "help" you??😆
      If you're hitting it just 5 yards right of your intended target and the ball flight and contact are good, then try this: Address the ball as if you were going to hit a shot at a specific target. Then have a friend place alignment sticks down on the target line and your foot line. Step away from the ball and have a look at the sticks from behind. Does the target stick point at the target? Is your foot line stick parallel to the target stick? Oftentimes our setup is wholly responsible for misdirected shots and yet we try to make adjustments to a swing that was functioning correctly!

    presumably the opposite is true for a draw?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 роки тому +2

      Surprisingly not, Toby. The stock shot for this swing is a push-draw. This occurs with the stance line parallel to the target line, a club face that is slightly open to the target line while closed to the downswing path, and a contact point occurring on the rear side of the arc (meaning that impact is happening while the club is still traveling on its in-to-out route). There is no need to close the stance or the clubface in order to hit a draw with this swing. Trying to do so will likely cause undesirable results.
      I hope this makes sense!
      Thanks,
      Tom

    Tom, don't you realize that when you say "Mini" or "Soft" (shot) guess what happens next? You are more relaxed and proceed to hit the CRUD out of it - "With the Wrath of God!" - without realizing it!

      The thing about this swing is that the stock shot is a push-draw. So you can pound power fades off the tee all day long with these minor setup changes and then go back to the standard alignment and seamlessly carve in your irons from the other direction!
