I appreciate that, Andy, and if you want to bring the folks from The Golf Channel to the table I'll gladly listen to what they have to say, but I really don't think they'll know what to do with me......😆😆 Thanks so much for sharing your improvement and resulting enjoyment, and keep up the great work!! Tom
I started golfing 10 months ago and shot 110-120 for the first couple rounds. 4 months ago I was mid 90’s average then I started watching Tom’s videos and now I’m shooting mid to low 80’s! For me it was all about keeping weight on my lead leg
@redghost3170 - That is *OUTSTANDING* - I'm thrilled for your dramatic improvement!! 💪💪 This powerful, low-maintenance, body-friendly swing system is designed to provide a lifetime of blissful ball striking up to and including at the game's most elite levels. hanks so much for your support in sharing your progress and success, and keep up the fantastic work!! Tom
@DoubleBogeyBaker - Don'tcha think it's time to change your UA-cam name??...... 😆😆 That's AWESOME! Keep it forward, keep it crispy, and we'll see you soon in the 70's!! Tom
Tom, 8 handicapper here bumped up from 6 so far this year after losing a couple of low counters…. I’ve been applying your one swing plane methods in practice all last week and took it to the course and shot a 75 finishing runner up in our summer cup. The weight forward, shoulder tilt and abbreviated finish with a powerful connected swing has really helped me. Will be continuing with this and I feel way more natural with an inside takeaway anyway which I have been trying to “correct” for the last 3 years!
That's fantastic, Craig!! I am very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play. Thanks so much for your support in sharing your ball striking improvement and subsequent tournament success, and keep up the tremendous work!! 💪💪 Tom
If this is your first time watching this guy, just subscribe and ignore all the other teachers on UA-cam. Not only does he know the golf swing, he knows how to describe it so it is understandable for idiots like me.

I have watched a lot of golf instructional videos, read a lot of books on golf, and subscribed to Golf Digest, etc. I have had multiple instructors and have spent 100s of hours on the range. I am absolutely amazed by the progress in my game since watching Mr. Saguto. He is the “Minimalist Master” of golf. Instead of a bee hive of thoughts buzzing in my head, I just chant, “Crispy. Crispy. Crispy” Thank you Mr. Saguto.

This guy's simple approach to swinging changed my game forever! I shaved 10 strokes off of the first 9 holes i played using his instruction and actually had fun playing instead of cussing the whole time! I find myself hitting my irons farther than i ever have! It feels good being complimented on how good I am striking the ball. Cheers man!

I started using this swing after I'd quit playing for awhile because of stage four arthritis in knees.its given me renewed enthusiasm for the game even though I'm eighty years of age I'm playing decent golf again.. thanks Tom love your videos 👍
That is so great to hear, Derek!! 💪💪 (Though given the proven body-friendly nature of this swing system it is not surprising.) In this regard, you may be interested to know that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. Tom, through all of the stuff we have worked on together this by FAR has helped me the most with impact. That connection and feeling like the left arm never detaches from my chest works wonders. It allows me to keep the lead arm straight on my backswing and helps take the club back inside but not rolling it in but rather turning it inside. This has solved like 90% of my mishits. No more snap hooks and if I do I know how to fix it. Thanks for this Tom.
Great stuff, Stephen! Thanks so much for validating this lesson/drill with your well-documented experience, and as always - keep up the fantastic work and keep it crispy out there!! Tom

My game has transformed from your instruction. I’m now breaking 80 after 30 years of never thinking that was possible. It’s such an advantage to know what your contact will be before each swing. I think we would all love a vid on course management…only a suggestion. Thank you for making this frustrating game addicting.

Dear Tom ........ I am a believer !!!! I took your advice and went to the grass range yesterday and hit two buckets of balls using the tee technique and more of an inside take away over my right shoulder . Major game changer for me ! 95 % of my ball strokes were solid and effortless . The trajectory was much higher and straighter . Also , I am putting more weight on my left foot with a forward shaft lean ( your previous video ) and this also has really helped my game . Thanks forever ...... Your new friend from Oregon

I started using the stack and tilt method of swinging the golf club last year. I got tired of being inconsistent. I love how simple your introduce the concepts. Except for 2 weeks ago, I have been playing my best golf. Thank you
A consistent trait among top golfers is that they all seem to have a bad memory. They have already forgotten the lousy shot they just hit when they step up to the tee on the next hole. So two weeks ago?? We're talking ancient history that is not even worthy of any thought or recollection......😎 Thanks for your supportive words regarding my instruction and this fantastic S&T swing system! Now, get back to enjoying your best golf and keep up the great work!! 💪💪 Tom
Went all in with what you are prescribing and today, I MASHED the ball!! My putter didn’t show up, but NO DOUBT, I’m all in! That inside take away left me a few times, but I knew what happened immediately! I feel like I’m hitting my Florida knock down, but I also hit a majestic 6 iron that flew to the heavens and landed like an angel within a foot of its mark! Thanks so much for bringing FUN back to my golf game! You have a gift and I thank you for sharing!

This is probably the simplest but extremely effective backswing advice ever. I've been struggling with so many backswing thoughts over the ball resulting in all kinds of different contact. However, went in the garden earlier and tried this. It really helped .....just one thought, keep the left arm connected, brilliant tip tom.....

I had the very same thought and together with Tom's previous instruction I have actually been doing this for some time, Glad you reinforced this issue. Now I won't be second-guessing that swing start. I use a golf glove to get the same feeling and now I have it ingrained as part of my swing. Things are working and golf is getting more fun now. I'm 73 and still active but a bad knee almost stopped me from playing and certainly hitting crisp shots was out of the question. Now with Tom advocating and more left-centered swing things are getting "Crispy" again.
Fantastic!! I'm very glad to know that this lesson re-validated what you have been focusing on. Thanks for your support in sharing your body-friendly ball striking improvement and resulting enjoyment, and keep up the fabulous work!! Tom
Tom, Thank you for your awesome content. I am 74 with a 20 hdc but am trending to a 16 thanks to you "shoulder swing" Golf is finally fun again!! Most appreciative, Bruce in Green Bay

Have been taking 2 baseball swings in preshot routine...finally feel power right arm shoulder torso flatter baseball swing 20 more yards..finally doesn't feel like I have no leverage when wound up Thanks Tom also love Schefflers simple routine...arms close to torso ..lot of coiled power Dennis in Vancouver
Nice job incorporating that rotational/trail shoulder baseball feel into your swing, Dennis! As a former ballplayer myself I understand exactly what you mean. Keep up the great work and enjoy that dramatic power boost!! 💪💪 Tom
Forgot to add I have been hitting 80 and 81’s all this year so far up until the weekend using your methods - it was an “easy” 75 as a fair few makeable putts burned but so many more fairways and greens. Thank you Tom!!!

I went to the range today and after a couple swings I recalled seeing this video yesterday. I pictured the tee in my left armpit and took a swing. Powerful baby draw and an effortless feeling. I had zero other thoughts or feelings and most of my session was solid with a few pulls and some slight pushes. Took this feeling to my 3-wood and it didn’t translate until I kept my head back a bit more, sort of like a driver feeling. No draws with the 3 wood but it was piercingly straight! Heading back out tomorrow and I’m going to incorporate your right shoulder feeling through the ball that I saw in another video today. The feeling of the tee in the left armpit creates seriously good contact. Thank you sir!
Outstanding! I’m very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into practice. By the way, it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: ua-cam.com/video/o0xscMyN3v8/v-deo.html. Mr Saguto, your approach to the golf swing is by far the best I’ve come across on this platform. I’ve only just started trying it in the past week and already notice a difference in strike and consistency on target. I would love to see some vlogs on the course of you playing 18 like a lot of your peers do. Thanks for the common sense approach to the golf swing I didn’t know existed. I’ve gotten so much from watching you already.

Great lesson!! You are hilarious, besides being a great teacher! I love the way you walk up & talk to the camera. I've followed you for a long time... How do you manage to look younger now than before?! I just watched another lesson from someone who promoted the "straight back" method with a short backswing. I need to be able to keep my HEAD out of my swing!!!
LOL! I'm glad to learn that you are enjoying my "lesson and a show" instruction style, Judy! 😎 Taking it straight back is a disconnecting move that puts the hands and club in the "Zone of Uncertainty". They don't know what to do from there. Do they crash straight back down in an effort to hit at the ball? Do they drop down and try to find that perfect "slot" each and every swing? Do they get stuck behind us by overcompensating? In other words, we disrupt the natural geometry of the swing preestablished at address when we force the club out and up - or, conversely, snatch/roll it to the inside - in either case taking it off the plane of the inclined circle that was preset at address. Instead, why not just put them in the "slot" to begin with and preset the ideal downswing path before it even happens?! While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Thanks for your ongoing support! This might be one of your best videos Tom. Makes total sense. These thoughts have led to some incredible consistency for me. A man you might have heard of, Gary Player, learned this move at 70 and he said it was a game changer (you can find this video on UA-cam). He said Ben Hogan gave him this tip. You’re in good company.
I’m very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you to such an extent, James; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play. I also appreciate your further validation of this game changing swing element by citing its employment by a couple of "decent" players in their day...😎 Thanks so much for sharing your dramatic improvement in ball striking consistency and keep up the fantastic work!! 💪💪 Tom
This works - especially the weight forward. Have picked up 6-7 mph and about 15 yards of carry with my driver in a just a few trips to the range. Best part is I think there's more to come. At 65, this approach is a Godsend!

You’re under appreciated my friend. That simple fact of adding a move and manipulating the back swing is insane. 10,000 golf balls a week and even then are you really comfortable with forcing the shallowing the club that way. For some sure. For most we want a simple easy and effortless way of being in the correct position. And without having to add extra movement or mechanics this is ridiculously good !! Appreciate your work man.
I sincerely appreciate your kind words, and I'm very glad to know that my lesson content and teaching style are resonating with you and providing clarity and simplicity in the muddied, overly complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction! And yes - unfortunately, such sorcery from this dark underworld of golf instruction rarely finds its way to the mainstream because if too many folks found out about it the mainstream would then be rendered irrelevant....... 😎 In actuality, the body-friendly, powerful, low-maintenance swing system I teach is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's greatest ball strikers. As such it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everyone in between, inclusive of the best players in the world. Watch any Tour event on TV and you'll see a significant number of players executing these motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top. Thousands of folks across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result of learning this swing system through my online school, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Compare and contrast that with the sad reality that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within the realm of “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, firing the hips, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). Thanks again for your message and support! Tom
I always try to keep the club in line with the target at the halfway point. I'm most consistent when I just think side to side. It takes most of the thought out of my swing. Which is why I like your lessons the most out all other UA-cam lessons. You keep it as barebones as possible.

I appreciate that!! Golf is indeed a very difficult sport. But if we can simplify the swing so as not to rely on timing, exceptional hand-eye coordination, and/or micromanaging "positions" - and we can - then we will be able to achieve consistently great results without overcomplicating things or having to continuously work so hard. @@SagutoGolf Thank you Tom. I will check out the mini course. I wanted to share a story with you. I had to put my driver in time out for being a bad boy. Duck hook hell,. Well I figured a lesson would help. The instructor tried to steepen my back swing and then bring it back down to square. A failure. To be fair my instructor helped me out with many other segments of my game. So I watched your videos. Slowed down my take away. Made sure the left arm is straight thru the back swing. Shoulder turn so the hips cleared naturally... Result? Long drives with a nice gentle draw. Who knew it could be that easy. THANK YOU AGAIN Tom!!!!!
the first twi rounds after watching this really worked for me. Then I lost it again. So frustrated...But I will keep on following this advice. Those two round were sooo addicting

Ben Hogan Five Lessons I like what you are saying why instructors changed the swing but your absolutely correct. Page 63 in his book.I’ve played for over fifty years and never take it back outside.
Mr. Hogan delivered phenomenal and timeless instructional value, right?! But there are just so many misconceptions about his swing out there - particularly within the realm of misunderstood or misapplied instruction - that have sadly relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of chronic frustration. I'm doing my best here to clear these up one by one and put an end to this madness by taking what Mr. Hogan conveys in the “Five Lessons” book as his "feels", applying it to the reality of what he actually did in his swing, and translating it into something we all can learn well from. Because if we can get Hogan right there are tremendously effective swing keys to be garnered. Thanks for your message - I sincerely appreciate your validation and support!! Thank you for the explanation, it makes total sense and I always wondered why we should have to have the club head out in front of the body when naturally it doesn't want to do that, let the body take the club around....
My pleasure, Trevor! Yes - I wondered about that odd piece of advice as well, as it disrupts the natural geometry of the swing that was preestablished at address. Thanks for your validating remarks. Makes so much sense, Tom 👍🏻 I wish I would have seen this before this morning’s round. I struggled a bit squaring the clubface; I tried hard to focus on taking the club straight back (prevailing knowledge). But it felt like I was opening and closing the clubface (like a door) 🤷🏼♂️ I’m definitely going to try this, staying connected and “fa-get about it” 😂 Another jewel of knowledge 💎 from Saguto Golf Thanks 🙏🏻
I'm glad this resonated with you, Mike! As for that prevailing "knowledge" (which is really anything but), consider that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within the realm of modern “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, firing the hips, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). Hey Tom, this is great. I was having trouble a couple of weeks ago with shanks 😬. After I left the range I was trying to imagine what was causing me to bring the club back farther away from me to cause the shank. It occurred to me that I must be lifting my arms too much and not dropping them back down enough. I had a golf round booked the next day so when I went to play I did exactly what you are saying here. I tried to keep my arms connected by imagining that I was pinching something in my armpit. I didn’t hit one shank and shots went straighter. Also improved my ball contact. This just gives me confirmation. Thanks.
Awesome! I appreciate knowing that this lesson resonated with you and provided validation for your recently deployed anti-shank strategy. @@SagutoGolf Thanks, I’ll have a look at that. I’m a 20-21 handicap at the moment and feeling a bit stuck. I been thinking that I need a system to work through rather than just trying every new tip I see on YT. I’ve been intrigued by the S&T system. I’ve followed your channel for a couple of years now and love the simplicity of your instruction and swing. The idea of getting into the “slot” by just staying there in the first place makes perfect sense. I’m just looking to remove as many variables as I can right now.

This tip and many other videos of your simple swing has improved my game immensely!! Only issue is with this new swing I sometimes have a tendency to hook the ball and hit fat shots. I know it’s hard to diagnose without video but any tips ? Perhaps my grip or ball position?
I’m very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you, Daniel; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play! You are correct in there are just too many potential variables and unknowns for me to make an accurate diagnosis. However, if your path was previously too steep and you were making compensations to prevent the ball from slicing off the planet - perhaps a very strong grip or setting up with a closed face - then those compensations could certainly result in a duck hook if this lesson corrected your path. Other things to consider are your ball position is too far forward, your hands are too far back, your weight is not forward enough at impact, more..... For a good starting point to get at the cause of your hooks, here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” where you can learn some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner: go.saguto.golf/ Thanks so much for sharing your dramatic improvement and keep up the great work!! 💪💪 Tom
Whenever I’m struggling I come back to this channel to reminisce what my golf game was like in the 1990s Younger, more athletic, unlimited energy to walk 36 holes, and random tips from the time traveler himself, Sensei Saguto, to get the game back in order. Love the simple, single swing thought, tips that work instantly on the range and course. Also love the 90s vibes of these videos. 😂
That 90's vibe is probably because the physics and geometry of the swing system I teach are timeless..... 😎 By the way, you may be interested to know that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. Have you looked into the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. You don't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. I hope you'll give the school some thought. Let's put a stop to this insane practice of "struggling and coming back". Why not just stay here and put an end to the struggles?!.....😆 Tom
@@SagutoGolf Hi Tom, I discovered your videos and have been following them since about the COVID hit. So, what 2018? Five years later, I am in my 60's and I have gained and lost parts of my game. Every time, I find myself returning to your videos. Several times I have contemplated either signing up for your golf school, but figured I wouldn't have the time because of work, family etc. Now, I have more time and once again I am contemplating the on-line school or coming to see you personally. I am about an hour to an hour and 15 minutes up the road in N.C. Right now, I struggle with consistent iron shots. Plus, I have a habit of pulling my 9-iron and pitch wedge to the left side of the green. This is frustrating to be so close to the green and waste a shot with another chip or pitch onto the green because I missed it the with the earlier short shot. If I chip/pitch it really well and one putt, I am golden. Otherwise, its another stroke & sometimes two strokes added to the scorecard. I guess what I am thinking or asking is --- would the on-line course be more comprehensive than an in-person lesson. Knowing that in-person lessons would probably cost more, plus the commute. Thoughts? Respectfully, Steve

Can’t wait to try this, been struggling with ball contact consistency with the “clubhead outside the hands in the initial takeaway” prevailing wisdom. Saguto, when watching your lower body during the backswing, it appears this mirrors stack and tilt method. Agree, if not how is this different? Thanks!
I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you, William, and I hope it performs well when you put it into practice! And yes - I am both a Class A PGA Professional and a Certified Stack and Tilt Instructor. Here is the story of my "conversion": ua-cam.com/video/PM8lNNrMPEk/v-deo.html And here is an episode documenting my week at S&T Instructor Camp in Miami: ua-cam.com/video/m9qdPOzYUWU/v-deo.html This body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance Stack and Tilt swing system is designed to provide a lifetime of great ball striking, and since it is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everything in between, and inclusive of the best players in the world. I give all credit where it is due - including Andy Plummer and Mike Bennett for analyzing and interpreting the science, and to those who preceded them with their empirical observations of the game's best ball strikers and all their subsequent chalkboard number-crunching. I just do my best to take what they have built and convey it in my own simplified teaching style, and as a result thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives through my online school's step-by-step lessons and drills, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. I used to do that wide takeaway, but this year the idea of turning the shoulder under the chin has been meraviglioso! I think weight forward, start my takeaway thinking shoulder under the chin & when I get to the top pause slightly to slow myself from rushing the downswing like I used to. Tomaso you are turning me into a golfer FFS!

Mr. S! Nice breakdown and time spent teaching here. I’ve gotten consistent during my membership to your lessons 🎉 Pinning the tee in left pit always made more sense to me than right pit. Tom, if you have a minute, could you please comment on something here.. - Setup with left elbow pointing towards target. Pointing it naturally pushes the upper arm away from the body, releasing the shock trigger. Should there be a conscious decision to pin it AND point it-both feeling unusual, briefly?
Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed it!! Regardless of the lead arm orientation - which I leave to a matter of personal preference - we should be able to barely embed the tip of the tee in that armpit area. From there, yes - the key is to really emphasize that connection throughout the swing. This will keep the shoulders in control of the motion while serving to resist a consistency-wrecking disconnect. Can it feel "unusual"? Sure, particularly if you were prone to losing that key connection point at some point during the swing. Thanks for sharing your improvement and keep up the great work!! Tom
Been playing about 2 1/2 years - I started here but strayed into all kinds of other crap but gradually returning to this swing and recently it seems the closer I get to this the better I do…so much simpler. The other day I hit roughly a 280 yard drive. I’m 59. Moving forward I’m sticking to this swing - seems to work with basically all my clubs…
Now that you've been through your experimentation phase and have put all that "crap" behind you, I'm glad to have you back - hopefully for the long haul! My pleasure, Andy - I'm glad to know that this lesson resonated with you! Yes - this absolutely applies from wedges to woods. Tom You are the Best!!!!! My question is my feels in my swing i feel the left shoulder go down club goes in and up but i also feel my right shoulder go back to the target at the top of swing is that a good feel to have ? Do you have any videos that explains left shoulder down right shoulder pointing to the target?
I appreciate that! Yes - I have spoken about trail shoulder retraction in numerous videos. In fact, in this week's episode I mentioned the feel of getting my trail shoulder behind my neck: ua-cam.com/video/l1Hh6RyEuds/v-deo.html This is a very important component of a truly completed backswing, so keep on doing what you are doing! I have been following your content for a few months now and i have to say it has revolutionised my game. I was diagnosed with Parkinsons diseaese 5 years ago and slowly it has impacted on my golf game to the point i was considering giving the game up. In desperation i spent hours following UA-cam content and following the old doctrines of golf instruction but unfortunately with a movement based condition like Parkinsons the last thing you need to be doing is trying to achieve difficult body positions combined with intricate timings . Your simple no bs delivery style along with simple well explained routines has rescued my game . I now go to the course thinking i may be in with a chance of winning rather than accepting it as a day out with friends , a chance to catch up , a nice bit of lunch all spoiled by a disastrous round of golf. If it wasnt for the fact i live ib the UK i would definitely be looking for some one to one time with you but i guess thats never going to happen so i will continue to eat up your content and continue the improvements .

I hope you'll give the school some thought. Thanks again for your message and support, and keep up the fantastic work!! Tom
Ooohhh... I just got my srixxon UDI. I wanted the 18°, but ended ordering the 20° by mistake. Well, it took me a bit to dial in my 4i out here in Indiana. Since tgen, my swing has been very consistent and I was getting great flights, almost to high. Can't wait to get back home and get it to familiar territory and decide wetger I should exchange it or not. I can tell it's longer than my 4, just not sure about how much fairway roll it will get. Anyways, thanks for being the best to do it!!

LOL! It'll take a lot more than a thumbs up for that, Mickey.....😬⚡ Anyway, if you'd like some more entertainment value try slowing down the video to 1/4 speed during one of my shock therapy moments.....😆😆 TS
Thanks Jonathan - I appreciate that! I choose to "stay in my lane" when it comes to other lesson content out there. That's certainly not a slap against any other personalities or methodologies; it's simply that the system I teach is rooted in physics and geometry, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's greatest ball strikers. As such it works for me and for countless golfers across the globe who continue to flood my inbox with unsolicited testimonials of enjoying the best golf of their lives. Having said that, since this is a robust swing system based on data from the game’s best golf ball strikers, I am never surprised to learn of similarities between components of my teaching and what other very capable instructors are saying. Tom
Hi Tom--Do you still advocate Right elbow above the Left elbow on the takeaway like on your previous video seen on the online golf school? This current video definitely helps with the feeling of a shallow golf club and has even helped with my chipping as I feel I'm using the bounce more on my sand wedge. Thanks for all you do!
Absolutely, Christopher. The only way the lead elbow will rise above the trail elbow in the takeaway is if we roll or snatch the club inside with our hands, and I am definitely not suggesting that!! Thanks for sharing your improvement and keep up the great work!! Tom
In 1975, Carl Lohren put out "One Move to Better Golf", in which he proposed starting the backswing by turning the left shoulder (right-handed golfer). As using a tee would not be permitted when actually playing, I have seen some pros yank up some fabric in the armpit of their shirt. It reminds them to keep their left shoulder pinned to their upper torso.
Tom, I m 6'4 " and am 74. Tried NATURAL golf for 10 yrs and gave up on it. Tried stack and tilt for a few yrs and still inconsistent usually hitting it fat and behind the ball. I tried all most every thing, changing my swing almost weekly looking for answers including most of your tips incl. this take away. Still inconsistent. Here's the tip that gave me game. Grab the hozel with your hands and let the shaft/ grip rest on or above the hip and make the backswing without letting the shaft leave the hip and notice what the body is reacting/doing. For me it taught me that I wasn't using my left leg/ knee properly. Now I point my left knee behind the ball on the backswing and I am hitting it on the screws picking up at least 10 yards per club. Maybe you can share this tip with your audience . First thing in 50 years that has really changed my game. Love your approach to the game. 😊
Thanks - I'm very glad to know that you are enjoying my content! If you were not already aware, I am both a PGA Professional and a Certified Stack and Tilt instructor. A significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's (and of all shapes and sizes) - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. Having said that, even though that lead knee moving back to such an extent is outside of the realm of what I teach, if it works well for you and does not place any stress on your body then I certainly am not one to discourage it. Keep up the great work and have fun out there! Tom
It’s funny I already brought the club inside like that, and I noticed my friend who is getting lessons was doing what you are talking about. I was considering changing until I saw this video. Thank you.

Another great video.. only thing to add is for me not rushing the back swing and intial downswing. Then i took this drill next level. Does that make sense tom?
Thanks - I'm glad to know that this lesson and drill are performing well for you! And yes - that absolutely makes sense. There are two things at play in this regard: 1) Discovering and dialing in our ideal swing tempo, and 2) Feeling that transition - or the change in direction - so we don't rush our downswing from the top and thereby lose our sequencing (a very common affliction within the amateur golfing realm). Our perfect tempo/rhythm - which is unique to each of us individually - enables us to gather and unload the various components in proper order for seemingly effortless, powerful ball striking bliss. Executing a full shoulder turn is a key component for accomplishing this, since an abbreviated motion lacks both rhythm and a natural stopping point and thereby encourages the "hit" instinct to take over. Keep up the great work! I will sign up...i watch your stuff exclusively now . I would come for a lesson but new Zealand a little far from you lol . I have to watch every video very carefully as lots of gold in the little things you teach that you must do before you see the results you make look so easy lol
This takes me back to my original golf text book which said to simply rotate shoulders under the chin. With weak wrists I imagine we need to be careful not to break the wrist at the top of the swing. Going straight out now to try this. Does it work with woods?
Yes - this also applies to the driver, Gordon. In fact, it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: ua-cam.com/video/o0xscMyN3v8/v-deo.html. Beyond that, if you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content. Ideally we should simply "allow" the wrist/arm actions to happen without forcing anything. If we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct positions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. The power accumulators - including the proper arm, wrist, and hand action - will then naturally load and fire with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary, thereby returning the face to the position pre-established at address. It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power. And while I certainly have other videos that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Thanks for your message. Tom, I have been using your instruction for the last two years and my game is like a hot slice of butter melting on a big ol pile of flapjacks. I play a quarter a hole skins game with a quarter for greenies on the par 3s and my bag is overflowing, I could ride the horsie outside of my local drug store all day long if i wanted to. The old men hate me and the youngsters want to be like me but what they have in common is they all pay me, and my bag jingles with that beautiful sound of all that loot. Who wants a pop out of the old soda machine? Its on me, i got change. 😂
I'm typing this reply through voice recognition as it's gonna take me some time to pick myself up off the floor after reading that. I was done for by the time I got to "horsie".... 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆 Thanks for that. Keep up the great playing and keep on cha-chinging it out there!!! Tom

Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed it! And yes - this also applies to the driver. In fact, it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. Perhaps your best video? I have watched every one. I fired my instructor. You should have a weekly show on TV, but everyone else has said that too. Check out TOM and THE BOYS in concert when you are in South Carolina! Nobody else has said that! Tom plays a mean guitar and he is always "TAKIN' CARE OF BUSINESS " on the stage as well... Cheers
LOL!!! I'm glad you enjoyed the video, MaryAnn, and I appreciate the TV show plug and the band shout-out!! Just one correction: The band is The Guys, and I'm the only "boy" member since everyone else is more than twice my age!! 😆😆 Thanks for your support, keep up the great work, and rock on!! Tom
Thank you so much, Tom. I really like your style. I can tell that you laugh a lot. And it is fun for me to watch you earn a living while having a great time. Very cool.
I sincerely appreciate your kind words, Colin, and I'm glad to learn that you are enjoying my "lesson and a show" instruction style! Just know that despite the entertainment aspect, everything taught here from a golf swing perspective is consistent with a system rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and modeled on empirical observations of the game's greatest ball strikers. So have a chuckle or two, and then get to work! 😎 Tom PS: By the way, since my lesson content is connecting well with you, I am confident that you will also benefit from my FREE mini course - “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”.: go.saguto.golf. One takeaway Tom (no pun intended) is that late in a round, I sometimes begin to get lazy and not push back, allowing for this separation, causing me to start hitting down on the ball. If I focus on tilting the shoulders and pushing my front arm back pinning, as you said, I pure the shot every time. I am 60 yrs old and just picked up golf again after 20 yrs and issues with my lower back and knees. After two months of learning this stack and tilt method, I went from rounds of over 120 to now consistently hitting in the mid 90's. On short, par, 3 courses, I am scoring under bogey golf with crispy KFC hybrid shots. Can you do a video here on hitting hybrids? I would again be interested in your takeaways on using these magical clubs with the stack and tilt. I have been able to even hit my 3W hybrid from the tee box and hit long baby draws that are as long as my friends drives. Playing the course now from the fairway is a beautiful thing, Tom.
Awesome stuff, John!! 💪💪 I am very glad to know that my instruction for this fantastic Stack and Tilt swing system is performing well for you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play. With regard to those hybrids, as you are discovering through your own success it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to hybrids and woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver (sorry - no hybrid in the bag, but still the swing would be no different!): ua-cam.com/video/o0xscMyN3v8/v-deo.html Thanks so much for your support in sharing your dramatic and body-friendly ball striking improvement, and keep up the fantastic work!! Tom,thanks indeed. Whilst we concentrate on the many tights, drills, think the main culprit to a good swing ,takeaway is the distance of the grip From the thigh / body.If this varies, the swing goes off plane, pronto. I may be wrong though.
As I have said on many occasions, "the setup is the swing". Now, can we have a good setup and make a bad swing? Of course. But the chances of making a good swing with a poor setup fall somewhere between slim and none! This guy definitely needs a weekly 1/2 hr TV show ... at 73 my game is so much fun now following his really fun and sound basic swing tips....
I appreciate that, Andy, and if you want to bring the folks from The Golf Channel to the table I'll gladly listen to what they have to say, but I really don't think they'll know what to do with me......😆😆
Thanks so much for sharing your improvement and resulting enjoyment, and keep up the great work!!
Tom
TV? What's that?
Great and simple tips
On the plus side, if you were to get on the golf channel, you could grab one of your guitars and play your own intro and outro. 🎸🎼🎵🎶.@@SagutoGolf
Right, Andy. He IS da Bomb!!!
Two years ago, 120 average. Last week, 85. All because of watching Tom.

@DoubleBogeyBaker - Don'tcha think it's time to change your UA-cam name??...... 😆😆
That's AWESOME! Keep it forward, keep it crispy, and we'll see you soon in the 70's!!

We are fortunate to have found Tom
Yards?

If this is your first time watching this guy, just subscribe and ignore all the other teachers on UA-cam. Not only does he know the golf swing, he knows how to describe it so it is understandable for idiots like me.

Thats what i tell all my friends
He had me long ago with the watermelon

💪💪 (Though given the proven body-friendly nature of this swing system it is not surprising.)

We're talking ancient history that is not even worthy of any thought or recollection......😎
Thanks for your supportive words regarding my instruction and this fantastic S&T swing system! Now, get back to enjoying your best golf and keep up the great work!! 💪💪
Tom

Have been taking 2 baseball swings in preshot routine...finally feel power right arm shoulder torso flatter baseball swing 20 more yards..finally doesn't feel like I have no leverage when wound up
Thanks Tom also love Schefflers simple routine...arms close to torso
..lot of coiled power

Nice job incorporating that rotational/trail shoulder baseball feel into your swing, Dennis! As a former ballplayer myself I understand exactly what you mean.
Keep up the great work and enjoy that dramatic power boost!! 💪💪

Thanks so much for sharing your ball striking improvement and keep up the great work!! 💪💪
Tom
I may use a tee tomorrow! I mashed the ball today and barely started implementing these techniques. Congrats!
I sincerely appreciate your kind words, Darren, and I'm very glad to know that my lesson content and teaching style are resonating with you and providing clarity and simplicity in the muddied, overly complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction.

Taking it straight back is a disconnecting move that puts the hands and club in the "Zone of Uncertainty".
While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews
Thanks for your ongoing support! Now, let's do that "lobotomy" on your swing and get you on the path towards consistently crispy ball striking bliss!
Tom
This might be one of your best videos Tom. Makes total sense. These thoughts have led to some incredible consistency for me. A man you might have heard of, Gary Player, learned this move at 70 and he said it was a game changer (you can find this video on UA-cam). He said Ben Hogan gave him this tip. You’re in good company.
I’m very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you to such an extent, James; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play. I also appreciate your further validation of this game changing swing element by citing its employment by a couple of "decent" players in their day...😎
Thanks so much for sharing your dramatic improvement in ball striking consistency and keep up the fantastic work!! 💪💪
Tom
This works - especially the weight forward. Have picked up 6-7 mph and about 15 yards of carry with my driver in a just a few trips to the range. Best part is I think there's more to come. At 65, this approach is a Godsend!
*OUTSTANDING!!* I’m very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play.

PS: By the way, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them.
If you've not already joined, have you considered enrolling in the online school and taking your learning - and your game - to the next level? That's where - in addition to detailed lessons and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish - you'll find diagnostic tools for identifying/resolving swing and ball flight issues when they arise, plus advanced level instruction, and much more. As you are now coming to understand, one does not need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. I hope you'll give the school some thought.
You're so funny and your tips are the best. Unfortunately I still suck at golf. Inconsistent bad ball contacts and club path. But... I'll keep working on your tips and drills. Maybe in 2030 I'll manage (some)....
Keep up your good work!

In actuality, the body-friendly, powerful, low-maintenance swing system I teach is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's greatest ball strikers.

I always try to keep the club in line with the target at the halfway point. I'm most consistent when I just think side to side. It takes most of the thought out of my swing. Which is why I like your lessons the most out all other UA-cam lessons. You keep it as barebones as possible.

3:32 you encapsulated the entirety of the golf swing. Thank you!

I’m doing my best here to clear these up one by one and put an end to this madness, and I'm glad to know that it is resonating with you!

I hope this lesson and drill perform well for you!!

Makes so much sense, Tom 👍🏻
I wish I would have seen this before this morning’s round.
I struggled a bit squaring the clubface; I tried hard to focus on taking the club straight back (prevailing knowledge).
But it felt like I was opening and closing the clubface (like a door) 🤷🏼♂️
I’m definitely going to try this, staying connected and
“fa-get about it” 😂
Another jewel of knowledge 💎 from Saguto Golf
Thanks 🙏🏻
I'm glad this resonated with you, Mike!
As for that prevailing "knowledge" (which is really anything but), consider that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100.
Nice job figuring that out on your own, and keep up the great work!! 💪💪

I tried this today and it really helped me! Thank you!

For a good starting point to get at the cause of your hooks, here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” where you can learn some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner: go.saguto.golf/

Whenever I’m struggling I come back to this channel to reminisce what my golf game was like in the 1990s
Younger, more athletic, unlimited energy to walk 36 holes, and random tips from the time traveler himself, Sensei Saguto, to get the game back in order.
Love the simple, single swing thought, tips that work instantly on the range and course. Also love the 90s vibes of these videos. 😂
That 90's vibe is probably because the physics and geometry of the swing system I teach are timeless..... 😎
By the way, you may be interested to know that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them.
Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. At just $14.99/month or $149.99 per year the value in terms of what you get for that price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet.
And if you'd like to first "dip a toe in the water" prior to diving into the school, then here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ That is where you can learn some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner.
Why not just stay here and put an end to the struggles?!.....😆
Tom
Thoughts?
Respectfully,
Steve

Can’t wait to try this, been struggling with ball contact consistency with the “clubhead outside the hands in the initial takeaway” prevailing wisdom. Saguto, when watching your lower body during the backswing, it appears this mirrors stack and tilt method. Agree, if not how is this different? Thanks!
I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you, William, and I hope it performs well when you put it into practice!
And yes - I am both a Class A PGA Professional and a Certified Stack and Tilt Instructor. Here is the story of my "conversion": ua-cam.com/video/PM8lNNrMPEk/v-deo.html And here is an episode documenting my week at S&T Instructor Camp in Miami: ua-cam.com/video/m9qdPOzYUWU/v-deo.html
This body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance Stack and Tilt swing system is designed to provide a lifetime of great ball striking, and since it is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everything in between, and inclusive of the best players in the world.

Mr. S! Nice breakdown and time spent teaching here. I’ve gotten consistent during my membership to your lessons 🎉
Pinning the tee in left pit always made more sense to me than right pit.

I love this Tom, thank you. Does this equally apply to irons, hybrids, driver and wedges?
My pleasure, Andy - I'm glad to know that this lesson resonated with you!
Yes - this absolutely applies from wedges to woods.
In fact, in this week's episode I mentioned the feel of getting my trail shoulder behind my neck: ua-cam.com/video/l1Hh6RyEuds/v-deo.html
This is a very important component of a truly completed backswing, so keep on doing what you are doing!

I now go to the course thinking i may be in with a chance of winning rather than accepting it as a day out with friends , a chance to catch up , a nice
bit of lunch all spoiled by a disastrous round of golf. If it wasnt for the fact i live ib the UK i would definitely be looking for some one to one time with you but i guess thats never going to happen so i will continue to eat up your content and continue the improvements .

I choose to "stay in my lane" when it comes to other lesson content out there. That's certainly not a slap against any other personalities or methodologies; it's simply that the system I teach is rooted in physics and geometry, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's greatest ball strikers. Having said that, since this is a robust swing system based on data from the game’s best golf ball strikers, I am never surprised to learn of similarities between components of my teaching and what other very capable instructors are saying.

@@SagutoGolf Thank you, Tom! 🙂
Yes - the shirt sleeve tuck is a good and "legal" way to emphasize this connection. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you.
My pleasure! I'm glad to know that this lesson validated what you are doing and stopped you from going down that rabbit hole!!

Tom

And while I certainly have other videos that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

I broke 40 with a 39 on the local par 32 9 hole course for the first time yesterday and made 4 pars. I went back today and shot 40 but improved to 5 pars out of 9 for the first time. I've been playing for a year and these lessons have been really helpful. Saguto Rocks!!
That is *outstanding!!*

You beauty congrats on being a crispy golfer now
Epic comment my friend, ride that Saguto horsie, she’s studly, and reliable.
I'm typing this reply through voice recognition as it's gonna take me some time to pick myself up off the floor after reading that. I was done for by the time I got to "horsie"....
😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Thanks for that.
Keep up the great playing and keep on cha-chinging it out there!!!

@@SagutoGolf Thanks bro, Im planning a golf trip to Myrtle beach with the boys soon and we gonna have to reserve a table with you at the crispy nugget factory with all the extra sauce 👍
@@SagutoGolfthis is hilarious commentary !
I have been a 12 handicap for a yr and hovered at an 81-85 score. No BS, Litrally watched these vids and been to the range just 3 times to do this swing. I have litrally broke 80 the last 3 rounds ive played, from my more acurate iron play, no extra distance but dispersion is next level good. Cant believe it
That's AWESOME, Mark!! 💪💪

To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver (sorry - no hybrid in the bag, but still the swing would be no different!): ua-cam.com/video/o0xscMyN3v8/v-deo.html

@SagutoGolf Thanks, Tom. I am a subscriber at Saguto Golf and will look into the one on one training for sure!

I was able to get the tee, but was looking for a link for the shock collar 😂
LOL!!!
Thanks - I appreciate that, and trust me - stick with the plain tee as I'm still icing down the shock scars.....😆😆
Tom,thanks indeed. Whilst we concentrate on the many tights, drills, think the main culprit to a good swing ,takeaway is the distance of the grip
From the thigh / body.If this varies, the swing goes off plane, pronto. I may be wrong though.

As I have said on many occasions, "the setup is the swing". Now, can we have a good setup and make a bad swing? Of course. But the chances of making a good swing with a poor setup fall somewhere between slim and none!
