- Family members find Barnabas in an upstairs bedroom at the Old House and are convinced by Angelique that Barnabas has the plague. Natalie and Josette convince the doctor to let Barnabas stay at home so that this contagious disease will not spread into the town.

Great acting on Jonathan's part! He does the sick and feverish bit so very well! Lara did the evil wife very well, too! What a lovely bunch of actors Dark Shadows had! Thanks for this video. I really appreciate it! ~Janet in Canada

@@melissajenniferjones9959 Fair enough. I was only looking out for you as a Co-Dark Shadows fan and friend. Years ago I used to think some of my friends should be D.S. fans also. One friend who is 5 years older than I is scared of watching it because he says if he does he has Barnabas Collins nightmares. 😆
@@bruce8808 when I was younger I'd have nightmares too about Barnabas. Then Dad would say I couldn't watch it for 3 days, which was excruciating for me, but the nightmares would stop. I'll take your advice to heart for other people. I was just thinking about the funny expression. ❤

Barnabas has love and understanding from his mother Naomi and Joshua is very cynical and believes the worst in his son not fully realizing what has happened to him.
Joshua's story is among my favorites. Louis Edmonds is such a pleasure.

Joshua has always been a proud and stubborn man. After Naomi leaves the room and goes upstairs, we see Joshua with a puzzled, and slightly worried look on his face.
He won't admit it, or allow anyone to see it, but he is concerned about Barnabas, especially now that he knows Barnabas never turned up to meet Josette.
Roger's always been my favorite character. He's always sore and uptight about something, not allowing any fun, on the lookout for a scandal in his dysfunctional family.

As Barnabas lays deathly sick, his parents argue about where Barnabas could be. Naomi doesn't believe Barnabas would run out on his wife, while Joshua believes that Barnabas and Josette have run away together.
Joshua wasn't entirely wrong. It had been Barnabas' attention to meet up with Josette in Boston once he disposed of Angelique (obviously it didn't work out that way).
Love how Joshua pretends not to care wherever Barnabas may be or what may have happened to him. This annoys Naomi who walks out of the room, but once she's gone, we see Joshua contemplating what his son is up to. Whether he admits it or not, he does still care about his son. It's just his damn pride won't allow him to show it or admit it.
Barnabas calls out and Josette runs to him. She's devastated to see how ill he is, and to find the marks on his neck, not knowing where they came from.
The doctor recommends moving Barnabas away from Collinsport off to somewhere to die so no one else will be in danger of 'the plague'. The Countess does her best to talk him into allowing Barnabas to stay put and not to say anything to anyone.
I have to wonder what Angelique had up her sleeve now that she knows her little potions cannot cure Barnabas. I think she may have resigned herself to the fact that he'll die and she will have to do something about that after he does.
Wow, Josette, Barnabas was only a friend?! Good thing he was incoherent when you said that.
She only said that to appease Angelique. I'm sure Josette is aware that Angelique does not want to be reminded that her former mistress was once engaged to her husband.
Husbands can be Friends. And.. Angelique was No Wife. She lived in the craziness of her mind.
Not a very good acting job by jonathan frid.
I disagree, I thought he was great.
