    Hello, my name is Jorge and I'm from Portugal, I had a Suzuki Samurai 1.9 that had a canvas top and to attach the pressure buttons I had to pull the canvas with pliers until the button was adjusted and then with a small rubber hammer " hammer it." At first it was like that, as time went on it got easier. I hope it helps.

      Thanks, yeah I did a video when I installed it and I was sooo frustrated. Those back ones were the easiest ones, well 1 or 2 were a pain but I couldn't even get the buttons to snap that night, finally got them the next day. I think those back ones are supposed to be quick and easy so you can access the back quickly. They're gonna send me a new top so I'll have to start all over with the stretching process lol. Thank you for the comment and thanks for watching Jorge!

    While I'm more partial to tan, I do agree that it looks way cleaner with it matching the dash. I'm thinking I may do the opposite on mine and paint the dash to match the seats. XD At the end of the day as long as you like it, it's worth it. Truly is crazy how well that paint goes on and dries. Definitely want it to be a touch warmer with painting though. But still looks pretty dang good. Regarding the relay video, that was really interesting as well. I've never actually taken the time to think about how they work, and you're absolutely right, stupid simple once you understand the basics.
    Can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the interior. It's coming along beautifully, mister!

      Thanks, yeah I don't know if it was the temp or that can of paint. I got another can today and touched it up in like 5 minute, looks absolutely perfect now, I was so relieved (that'll be the first part of tomorrow's video, I just edited it). I painted the dash with that same paint, it's amazing stuff, it's so forgiving! It's frieken magic! I'm glad you saw that relay video. I hope alot of people watch it and can wire their own stuff. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!

      Honestly it wasn't something I was searching for. It popped up and I went and grabbed it. Didn't know a thing about them, but I'm learning. I totally get why people love them so much, they are so simple. Easiest vehicle I've ever worked on, makes it so much more enjoyable. Thank you for watching.

    Regarding zippers, sometimes you have to align the teeth at the beginning so that the others fit well and even lubricate them with Vaseline, I know it seems strange but sometimes it works. They are simple and fun vehicles, but sometimes too simple.

      Yeah I tried everything. I think I showed it where I even greased em up with some Carmex. I use chapstick alot for stuff like that, or for flashlights with metal threads to get the battery out. Makes em smoother and more waterproof. It was only 2 of the zippers, the rest were fine, but they're gonna send me a new top cuz it had other issues as well. I asked them to please check the zippers before sending it, but they might just be drop shipping from the factory that makes them so we'll see I guess. You're right, they are so simple I just love working on it! Hey thanks for watching!

    Did you have to spray any sealer or clear over the paint on the seats? How well has the color held up over time?

    • @FixLife119
      @FixLife119  4 місяці тому

      Not as well as I'd hoped. In my last video you can see where the paint has come off wherever the natural creases are in the seats. I'm going to contact Dupli-Color and see what they say. It says right on the can to use on dashes and seats. Once I get answers I'll put it in a video, I'll try to come back to this comment too if I can find it.

    forgive me if i missed it but is those stock seats i have a 88 and half model

      I'm not sure what these seats came out of. If you're thinking of painting your seats you might want to wait. On mine the paint is cracking where the natural creases of the seat are when there's weight on them. I tried calling Dupli-Color but they were closed. Gonna see what they say because this is exactly what it's designed for.

      @@joshuayoung6448 Damn, now I feel bad for painting them. These were in great shape, I don't see how they could have been original from '87 but maybe someone found an exact match. Thanks for the info!

    Sad to hear about your soft top experience. A “soft-top-tailor” for boats would easily fix your issues with the one you have.
    Painting seats … Won’t the paint rub off over time…?
