  • I replace the seals and felt on the steering knuckles, custom build some under dash panels made of repurposed Ford headliner, find and fix a vibration and a few other small things.

I have a 1988 Tin Top Samurai I have been restoring so it’s been fun watching you work on yours.
Those wiper seals are replaced when the hub is disassembled and the axel tube is naked. That way you don’t have to cut your new seals to replace. I would tear down the entire front axel so that you can inspect all the parts. Once torn down you can repack your wheel bearing and repack the grease on your birfield joints amongst other things. The way you have done it will cause you problems down the road with water intrusion and road grim.

You're 100% right. That's why I put the disclaimer in the video. I really thought I was gonna be greeted with gear oil once I got the old seals out, then I was gonna just order the whole rebuild kit, kinda shocked that wasn't the case. Also might need to figure out how to adjust the camber while I'm in there, she kinda pulls to the left but I measured the toe in/toe out today and was shocked that it was almost perfect. Gonna do some research and hopefully dig into it more. Man I'm jealous... I wish mine was a tin top! Dealing with that soft top has been such a pain in the ass.

Purtroppo quando i bulloni si ingrassano la chiave dinamometrica puo falsare il torch.

Please check your king pin bearings. There are two square plates with 4 bolts at 6 and 12 o’clock at the steering knuckles.
Unscrew the lower one, pull it out, check for rust, grease mixed with water, and/or any other bad junk.
I’m saying this because I think your knuckle issue is worse than a simple seal.

That's all? I thought for sure you were gonna let me have it for cutting the seal at the top lol. Can't believe that's that's the manual says to do. Do you know if that's how you adjust the camber, with those plates above and below the kingpin?

Camber is fixed because you have a solid front axle. You cannot adjust camber, only caster.
The kingpin bearings permits you to turn the wheel right & left. Over time water will enter the bearings, especially the one at 6 o’clock, and it will break. When this happens the broken bearing will cause the camber to be out of line. That’s why you always check kingpin bearings when you have an oil leak at the knuckle head.
Now that you have changed the outer seals keep an eye for new leaks at the same location. If you’re unlucky and a leak appears you will have to change all four of them, I.e., two per wheel.
Changing the bearings is easy, but a greasy job. If my memory doesn’t fail me I’ve done it at least 5 times.
I saw in a video of you that you applied a red grease in the gap of the knuckle. That grease will be of absolutely no use. You will understand why when you take it all apart one day.
There are videos on UA-cam on how to replace the kingpin bearings. Watch one or two before you do it yourself.
The best bearing grease you can get for money is SKF Bearing Grease LGMT 2/5. Good grease is as good oil, they might be expensive but are still cheaper than the parts they protect.
Let me know if you have any questions, I’m happy to answer.
