- I've seen my fair share of inferior camcorders, but at least those didn't purport to record in high definition like the Ordro HDV-Z20 does.
Its main attractions are a fixed focus lens, low-fi mono microphone, digital zoom, and poorly upscaled SD video.
In response to the Ordro HDV-Z20's obvious interpolation if its image sensor's output to 1920x1080, the maximum resolution available for watching this review is 720p; 1080p would've been a wanton waste of storage space and bandwidth.
You seemed to be biased from the beginning against $30 camera. Some of your points are welcomed and valid. But, you also compared an Ordro against a Canon. Really?
This would've blown the competition away in 2006.
People buying these things don't expect it to be comparable to a canon/big brand camcorder. When buying or receiving the item you would read the specs and realise that the focus is from 1.5m to infinity and therefore not an auto focus camera. It's really only the codec and the low res widescreen that seems odd. It's the cheapest camcorder on the market that comes with shotgun mic - so I don't think it's all that bad. I'd buy it for a bit of fun if I had more money than I do.

Seeing some comments about how it's in bad taste to compare this to a camera from a more reputable brand..
The Canon FS200 is a standard definition (read: not HD) camera from 2009. It was, for a little while in like 2011, available *from Canon* for $100 refurbed. It can be picked up used and working now for between $20-$40 (or, in about the same ballpark as the price of this Ordro camera) and records better looking video.
Hell, for not a lot more money ($40-$70), cameras from Sony, Canon, JVC, and Panasonic that record pretty good looking HD are pretty thick on the ground right now. Hell, at the time this was released, I had gotten my hands on a cheaper Canon HF-R series camera for $35 with free shipping on eBay.
Also, sure, it's $30, but if you spend $30 and the footage looks worse than you can get for that amount of money, that's not money well spent.
I've seen these on eBay and wondered how good or bad the performance is. Thank you for buying this crap so we don't have to!

I bought 4k camera of this brand. There is NO FOCUS at all, it says 48mp for still photos but in real they look like 1mp results. 4k video looks like Blur of smthg, I record wtevr time, it saves less than 1/10 of that. Super wastage. Can not use it for ANYTHING AT ALL. just a DUMMY. so sad. In this era of high gear cell phones, this is unbelievably worst thing to be called 4k camcorder.
"Morbid curiosity" is certainly applicable to most purchasers, including myself 🥴
This camcorder is surprisingly good video & the hot shoe works great with very good sound.Easy to use for a beginner

YIKES. I have a client who wants me to shoot with this, even though my experience is next to zip. I'm usually directing competent people to do their craft. HOWEVER, they are not going with us to a seminar. Your unit is not the one my client purchased although it purports to be the same (in theory.) The settings, buttons and so forth are close, not the same. BUT if this is 2019, I don't know if it's updated. I have one day to learn it. This video scares me to death. The 4K designation is disputed in another review, so that's reassuring. The negatives are SO MANY. I don't see how the lavaliers the purchased will work out. I would have liked to see the mic get set up and perhaps some of the other pieces in the box explained if you know what they are. No provision for attachment here of the 2 inch long rectangular USB-ish object. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh. Pray for me
The spec claims 24mp image resolution from an 8mp image sensor.

Actually, there is someone who pirated the Ordro AC3 on E-bay. I have two genuine Ordro AC3. Low end and a high end AC3 with all the full accessories. There are more features on the higher end AC3 than the basic one. I also have the Ordro HD Z50 full package and it's even better. These camera's are mass produced and not one is exactly the same. If you hate this camera, or your not satisfied... email Ordro, they have a website and they have excellent customer care service. They will either replace the camera or they will re-emburse you. You just need your original sales recept.

Wish I'd seen this video before I decided to buy. It's been a disaster! The company I bought it from are being very friendly and helpful, though. Let's see if I get the reimbursement I'm after.

Can someone recommend a good upgrade camera for me? I have a low rent Sony HDRCX. I want to get a better camera that is under $700- that will give a crisper picture for the price. Think semi-pro.
