  • In today's video we take a look at the BMW M2CS. To start off we compare my opinion of the car with ‪@TheStraightPipes‬ opinion of it. Then we talk about the overall feel of the M2CS. Then we compare the Manual transmission with the automatic transmission available on the M2CS.

I had a manual M2CS. Just oulled the teigger on the DCT version. Can't wait.
Now that said, it is a car that grows and gives as you learn to trust it.

I have both of these. Manual in Blue with all options. It it sitting I storage with 65 miles in it. All stock, obviously. The DCT one is in white. Stage 2 tune, suspension, all M Performance parts you could get. Akra and AcriveAutowerke midpipe. 520hp. Car is so much fun!!!! It has 7K miles on it. Both of my M2CS cars have CCBs. I have a lot of BMWs. My DCT M2CS and my 2024 M3CS are probably tied for the best.

The manual cars clearly bring more $ in the used car market. And that’s short term (3 yrs). I have DCT and think it’s great. I respectfully disagree on the exclusiveness and special aspect of this car. I believe it to be the best modern era BMW. It’s not ridiculously heavy, it’s look and design are beautiful, and 444 hp and 406 ftlbs torque are enough to get you in plenty of trouble if you don’t restrain with the right foot. I’ve never driven a 1M, maybe some day. I believe the M2CS to be a worthy successor to the 1M. I think it’s the closest thing to the 1M’s spirit and soul and what it brought to the table over the last 12 years. Unfortunately I’m not rich so going out and “ beating the shit” out of mine is not an option. I enjoy it, really enjoy it mind you, but 89,000 US $ is to much for me to wipe my butt with. These cars only came with the “ fat” alcantara steering wheels. I believe the person who added the extra carbon fiber bits ( dct shifter cover) added the leather steering wheel because of preference. One last good point of these cars……the turn in is amazing on these cars. That’s coming from 2 previous GT350’s and a current 17 Corvette GS Z07. It just works, and in my opinion, it works really well. DCT, 6spd, it doesn’t matter which one, BMW made a good car with this one. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure a M4CSL is an absolute riot to drive.

Agreed 100% bro! MB M2 CS here also with DCT. (I'm in Tdot as well)
I did 2nd guess myself when getting the DCT, but after driving the manual I knew I was right getting the DCT.
With the ZF now replacing DCT forever for BMW, I'm not surprised to see the DCT equipped M2 CS may worth more than the manual.
If I were to get a manual car in the future, (I don't think I'll ever sell my CS) it would be either the Lotus Emira or Porsche Spyder. Love their mechanical feel .
BMW's manual just doesn't give me that. However I do prefer the M-DCT over PDK as I find the PDK is "too smooth", unlike the DCT which will "kick your a$$" during hard shift at high rpm. It feels so much like a manual car. Never get sick of that.😊

I'm 54, and have owned over 30 cars and all of them manual gearbox except for 2.
Many years ago I had an automatic renault fuego, which was awful.
I have owned many tuned cars especially as I got older and could afford to buy and run them, and the car I currently own now is a tuned M140i.
This is only the 2nd car with an auto gearbox. I thought I would hate it, but I didn't have a lot of choice as the car was a trade in at a car dealership I worked, and I got it for a very good price, as I could not afford to pay the prices being charged privately.
    I love it.
The ZF8 HP50 gearbox was very good from the moment I drove the car, but I have flashed the software with xHP3 and now it is amazing. I never thought I would enjoy an auto so much, but it is perfect. In 'normal' mode it changes very smoothly, keeps the revs low, and is great for town driving. In sport mode it is savage and changes as quick as any DCT.
After 4 years of ownership, I would not go back to a manual.

Yeah, unfortunately the manual is good for a 40-50k BMW but the M2 CS is so much more special and aggressive, that it becomes the weakest part of the car. I would have liked the DCT to be a bit more responsive regardless of rpm and throttle/brake positions, because every now and then it’s lazy. But overall it’s really great, and better than the fake powershifts of the ZF8 and bleeeeah downshifts

Love the vids, keep up the good work.
With the alcantara steering wheel I wouldn’t option it because within like a year the alcantara just looks grose. IMO the leather steering wheel looks better long term.
With BMW’s S55 motor the DCT was designed around the S55, while the manual wasn’t designed with the S55. I think BMW just tossed in the manual for it’s consumers
