    Thanks for the video, got a new lg OEM pump from Amazon for $175, 30 minutes after the part arrived I’m washing dishes again and they came out clean. I think that pump has been on its way out for over a year as sometimes they would come out clean and sometimes it was like we never ran it. It worked well for the first two years we owned it but running it three times a day is probably why it didn’t last long. In the end water was just dribbling from the spray arms, now it’s full force again and the arms actually spin!!!! Success, thank you!!! This is a super easy diy repair.

    Other than the inlet/outet hoses on the pump being a huge hassle to reattach, this went smoothly for me with your video. Slighty different model, but very similar. Thanks

      @icalloutbs5441: How did you reattach the inlet/outlet hoses on the pump? Can you please elaborate a little bit or create a video about how to do it? Thanks!

    Thanks for this incredibly clear video! Can anyone answer how you knew this was the problem? My dishwasher is starting to fill up, but then stops after a few minutes (maybe 1 minute) and then gives error code 1E. It then drains easily and isn't making any strange noises.

    • @appliance63
      @appliance63  6 годин тому

      Could that be a IE code, inlet error. Dishwasher is not reaching the water level. there should be other videos, Google LG dishwasher, IE code.

    The only issue is the pump price. I mean lg sells it for $ 300 & that is not far from the price of a new one. Great video, thanks

    Is this part LG ABT72989206? Also does most of the LG Dishwasher use the same drain pump? Does the model LDFN454HT also use this ABT72989206 drain pump? Thanks!

    • @appliance63
      @appliance63  8 днів тому

      Yes the ABT72989206 wash pump motor/ heater is for the model # LDFN454HT. They sometimes call the part a drain pump. It is not.
      A good place to look for parts. Put your model number on searspartsdirect.com and look for your part in the pictorial diagrams.

      I saw on a few other videos where a bad pump emits a high pitched whining noise. Ours started doing the same thing and now having drain problems. We are waiting for the replacement pump we ordered to arrive.

    this video helped me out alot. but in this case i had to change the diverter motor. That was almost impossible to get access too even without the main pump out of the unti.

    • @appliance63
      @appliance63  5 місяців тому

      Yes, I know what you mean. If anybody doing this in the future that has to replace the diverter motor. I have done it by moving the float switch and also working through side of the dishwasher to access the diverter motor.

    • @appliance63

      We can find any appliance part by going on searspartsdirect.com with your model number. Looking at the pictorial diagram and find your part. The part number for my watch pump motor was ABT72989206. I try to get my parts locally Encompass and Marcone.

    Did it matter the brown and blue wire put on backwards?

    • @appliance63
      @appliance63  Рік тому

      No, it should not matter. The blue and brown wire are 120 V alternating current. The wires supply voltage to year heater.

    • @appliance63

      Yes, that happens often. You can look up the wiring harness part number on the pictorial diagram online to your model number. Or clean it up the best you can with electronic cleaner, electrical lube, and sandpaper

    Is this motor the Direct Drive motor warrantied for 10 years?

    • @appliance63
      @appliance63  Рік тому

      Yes, you have to call Lg to have them do it or an LG certified technician. After one year you have to pay for the labor.

      @@appliance63 how much is the labor?

    • @McScott76
      @McScott76 4 місяці тому

      @@storytons They quoted me $300 IF an LG certified tech was available in my area. The problem is that we live out in the country, and no LG tech is available. So, they told us to call around to local appliance repair places to get someone to come out and diagnose the issue, fill out a form, submit it.... wait God knows how long for LG to approve the claim, then ship the part... wait for it to arrive, then schedule a second appointment with a repairman to install.
      I said screw it. I'm buying the part on Amazon for less than $200 and doing the job myself. To do a warranty repair would probably cost me at least twice that with the two visits from a repairman, and it would take weeks to get the part. So friggin' ridiculous for a less than 3 year old dishwasher that supposedly has the ability to "self-diagnose" problems. Apparently it doesn't matter that the dishwasher's app tells me exactly what is malfunctioning. I still have to pay to have a tech come tell me what I already know.
      I will never make the mistake of buying an LG appliance again.

    Hum, a few days ago I had an issue with the heating element, a code, and then a week later "started" leaking. Based on evidence It could have been leaking for a few months, until now that is leaking way more I noticed. I can't believe it, 5yo dishwasher and LG doesn't sell you gaskets, but only the whole freaking pump and motor assembly. Now I am wondering if buying something else instead of replacing this...

  • @bobbycrosby9765
    @bobbycrosby9765 Рік тому +1

    I got quoted "just under $300" to replace this thing. Seems a little steep, especially since the part is under the 10 year warranty.

    • @fernjul4

    I am extremely disappointed with LG, I am having the same problem and the dishwasher is less than 3 years old. we had another problem with LG TV that stopped working in 2.5 years. I would never buy LG ever again.

    • @McScott76
      @McScott76 4 місяці тому

      Same here. Built a new house and put in all LG appliances. All the paint on the range controls wore off from basic cleaning within the first year. So we have a range with knobs that have no markings. Just have to guess what temperature setting you're using. Now the dishwasher has crapped out in less than 3 years. Bought it specifically for the 10-year warranty only to find out it's a scam that will end up costing us almost as much as a new dishwasher once I pay for the MANDATORY two visits from an LG tech to diagnose the problem and then later return to install the part.
      So infuriating!

    I have an LG LDF5545SS dishwasher. I'm hearing a noise similar to this: ua-cam.com/video/KZiZPR5sWe0/v-deo.html&ab_channel=BrianHawkins. I suspect the motor is going out as I've had the unit for 4 years. I found this part number in my searching (ABT72989206) and I wasn't sure if you'd be able to confirm this part is compatible with my model. Thanks!

    • @McScott76
      @McScott76 4 місяці тому

      Less than 3 years for me. After multiple frustrating calls to LG, I just ordered the part for $175 on Amazon and am going to do the work myself. Would have cost at least double that in diagnostics and labor costs for a warranty repair. Such a scam.
