I just missed 4 days of daily rewards and event coins, and because of the way the stamp system works, I don't even want to play the game anymore. It's insane how much FOMO there is.. missing one day will set you back one day, and that's really not cool. I wish I could miss a few days and come back where I left off, but now I'm 4 days behind the daily rewards and won't be able to claim them without spending NX on a pass.. It's very discouraging.
I remember being heartbroken when I came back to Maple after missing out for a few months because my PC died, and when I logged back in, I saw that I believe it was called Node stones were removed and right after I spent so much getting 4% max hp on all my gear for my DA and now it just appears as a flat hp gain on my gear. That made me stop playing right after because my damage was reduced significantly.
You're thinking of nebulites! It was a major blow for them to just remove them entirely the way they did, especially given how much emphasis they put on spending real money for gains on those stones
Yeah nodes are the 5th job skills/stones that drop from enemies in Arcane River onward. Good luck with getting back into the swing of things, and try your best to have fun!
Great video, and really bums me out. I came back after 11 years of not playing, didn't even know reboot was a thing until September. And I of course expected to have missed events and collabs, but it was a shock that old content was removed... and a bigger shock that a lot of old content is best in slot. This kinda thing wasn't what I expected from maple, having played old maple since beta as a very young child. It's always been a leisurely game; you can grind hardcore if you want, but it was always at your own pace. But now there's so much pressure on players to not miss out on events, to not miss out on dailies, to not miss out on content, etc. I've been playing for a while now, and I've gotten pretty far having just survived through a BM carry for the first time last week, and I tolerated and rationalized a lot of the negative aspects so I can better enjoy the parts of the game I still like, but it's getting harder with each new change they keep piling on. I almost deleted my main and quit forever after watching the live New Age event and finding out reboot exp will be massively nerfed. Old maple was all about how much effort you put into grinding. This new maple is all about who just happened to stick around the longest, not necessarily having grinded much at all. I rushed to 275+, but I can't even do damage to the the mobs because even grinding is timegated through sacred force. The most fundamental aspect of any korean mmo is grinding. And even that is timegated. You gotta rush to a certain level, so you don't miss out on dailies and get sac gated.
FOMO is actually scary. Haven't really played maple for a few years now and have had time to play other games I like for once (dark souls, pokemon, etc.) but I wanted to enjoy Maplestory. It's hard to enjoy it anymore and the game being less social in general, makes the game far less appealing.
Lmao this is why imo if nothing gets done, New Age is gonna flop. They've been pretty much trying to garner interest in the game again, but ironically there's so many systems in current maplestory that are just so punishing to new players. Being a returning player myself, I found myself struggling to do things like maintain dailies, raising my legion (This one is especially bad, I just want to play my favorite class), levelling up my burning characters instead of my main, and doing event stuff. I seriously don't understand what they're trying to do at this point, especially with the nerf to getting carried in bosses. So I've pretty much started playing again realizing I've missed out on a lot of best in-slot gear, missed out on renewable vac pets, multiple burning events, and also struggling to make new characters since I'm absurdly weak without legion (Crazy how most of the damage stats are locked behind having a certain legion rank). The grind from 190+ is absolute shit when you have nothing to start with (I swear the amount of times my friend tells me to grind on monsters I can "1-shot"... yeah that I can rarely find those). There's actually so many useless maps in the game they could rework into theme dungeons/quests to make the levelling process easier while breathing new life into old areas, rather than outright removing them (Shout out to Florina Beach, Gold Beach is far from the same). I used to play maplestory so much pre-reboot and now I find myself wanting to quit when I realize my friend can kill bosses on his "mules" that we levelled up at the same time, while I still do 0 damage to bosses on my main.
I love MS not gonna lie, I have been addicted to the game for 13 years until I finally give up on the game entirely. I actually felt great stepping off the game after all these due to years of "rushing home" to complete event dailies. I get punished if I didn't finish JUST one week worth of dailies throughout the span of 3-5months of major events. I had to force myself to play sometimes even when I didn't feel like it, all because of FOMO. I realized that I still play because I have no life. Been touching grass recently and I don't regret it. the fomo for me comes from all the time limit deadlines on items expiring. how do you expect all content to be available, maintained and balanced forever in a 20 year old game? and before you say, how hard can it be to have this legacy content when it doesn't affect new stuff??? well, threads of fate breaks inexplicably MULTIPLE times for long periods of times on new patch

In 2021, there was some discrepancies that KMS noticed with either flames or honor (or both), and it got so bad and heated over there that Nexon apologized and refunded a lot of them back to all players, worldwide I believe since it affected all regions, along with a TON of other goodies. A vac pet, chuchu outfit set, fake arcane weapon + fake dominator, tons of nodes and 3x exp coupons, symbol selectors, burning character, a ton of level up potions, just a whole LOT of stuff.

I had to give up on maple after the fomo got to me pretty bad around the sweetwater removal, was already feeling burntout of it after missing a couple good events etc.. i felt like playing again recently so looked into some news and found out that they're straight up removing old classes now.. left me with a really sour taste and just makes it obvious that i really don't respect the devs and what they're pushing the game to be these days (along with the reboot nerfs and upcoming changes) it's a crappy place to be in as i love the game and nothing can really scratch that itch, but just playing it is such a chore and the things to look forward to while playing seem to just fill me with dread (SFing, getting better pots, collecting boss dupes) ughgh, we defo fell into the "darkest timeline" with current maple.. i really do hope someday that this game can be truly great again ;'
Thank you! 💜I still deeply care about and enjoy this game but also understand where you're coming from. Game's massively changed since it first launched nearly 2 decades ago in the west now. While I don't agree with all the dev's more recent choices, I still put some hope into them and respect them to a degree for keeping one of the last major 2D MMOs alive for so long. In recent years the reworks have been pretty good (some glaringly not so great ones), and it feels like overall they're trying to push Maple back into a better direction with more things to do, at least in KMS's case. GMS gets a lot of their changes too, but that also puts pretty much everything else at risk for vanishing in an instant, which is (and has been) a LOT.
When it comes to fomo and missing out on stats isnt so bad when old items that arent accesible get power crept out. Tho i understand the video is talking about current bis, but it they can add something better. The video is def valid.
I just got back into the game for burning event few weeks ago. was disappointed when I couldn't locate mysterious path on a hyper rock. Knew access to singapore(Think the NPC was removed) for some time was removed but the actual files we're still all intact. I still don't have Crystal ventus badge after 2 weeks which is why I was looking into getting Ghost exocist badge ffs Edit: Commented this during the badge comment not even the actual map removals, mp3 the spot fr. Probably still remember the portal combo's by heart to get to the Captain
The whole ghost ship and getting to captain latanica was so much fun imo, also yeah crystal ventus sometimes just DOES not drop for a while. It took my kaiser over a week with people coming along with high drop rate to kill him on both normal and hard before it finally dropped

I never feel confident enough to recommend Maple to people due to there being SO many systems. This is also a bit of a reason.
