Nice to see you guys enjoying summer! We're also making the best of it, since soon rain and cold times will arrive, and we will be stuck mostly indoors again for half a year.
I was hearing that you are going to have a dark winter with power outages. So if that happend your winters are going to be a lot harder. Is that something you are prepared for if it happens because that would just suck! We are going to try to move to warmer climate for winter and shut down our house.
It is the not place we go to now since we took a day trip over 10 years ago. We stay for a week every year almost. We love biking and starting the morning at the coffee shop. We love picking up the day’s catch and grilling it at our rental. Love visiting the sound side or the ocean side and then catching the sunset by the ferry and then heading to the ice cream shop. It is worth spending some time there to see what makes it so unique.
My wife's family would rent a house in Hatteras and take the ferry over. She was blown away how much it has changed. Sounds like you guys had a really nice time when you would visit. It is a really neat place!
@5:41 - imagine hanging out over the edge painting the top of that! Done it! One of the last Lighthouses that was painted by the local CG station crew and not a contractor. The stairs were too rusty back in 1987 Ocracoke is also one of only 2 places that you can visit Britain without a passport (the other is at Cape Hatteras)two cemeteries with British WWII sailors graves, both Cemetery plots are deeded to the Crown
That is really interesting to know! It's amazing how much the Royal family owns and now all of it is handed over to the next person in line since the queen has passed.
@@notaboutthedestination5693 Sadly, not many people are aware that during the early days of WWII British sailors were fighting German U-boats and paying the ultimate sacrifice for the US just offshore of Cape Hatteras (aka "The Graveyard of the Atlantic") During the 1940's, the stretch from Cape Fear to Cape Hatteras was called "Torpedo Alley". The land is technically owned by the crown, under the "commonwealth graves commission" - the Commonwealth graves commission holds property around the world, and therefore it is still true that the sun never sets on the British empire. I should have been more specific - it's "one of only 2 places in the US..."
❤Thank you for sharing beautiful place love you all God bless you
Our pleasure!
