Happy Saturday ,we waved when we went thru NC. We just got back from an adventure to Amish land in Lancaster PA. Great trip some of the most beautiful farm land you will ever see. It's good to be traveling again. Happy birthday Maggie and Happy Tails!
Going to put this one on our list of places. Nice video, I thought the music choices were really good. Not sure if it is your musical background Owen, but one of the strong points of your videos is always the music selection.
It’s definitely a place to put on your list. I also think Owen’s music background helps set the mood of the videos. Thanks so much for letting us know what you like about our videos.
Enjoying this journey because it reminded me so very much of how my husband, myself and our Marley liked to do similar adventures, checking out new places. But, life interrupted and nothing lasts forever like we are use to. Everything is scaled back now and a big adjustment. Go while you can, see everything you want, enjoy each other’s company and especially love that pup dog, she is special. Your videos are so good, and there is always a new adventure waiting to be explored. Happy tails Maggie. ❤️🐕❤️🇺🇸🚗
So nice to see you in the Outer banks !!! We always have dinner at that restaurant near the marina . But because we live in Canada we are still in lockdown . But hope to be there again soon ! We are vaccinated ! But seeing you there is wonderful ! Brings back amazing memories !!!🦋💕 Love that area and the ferry rides !!
So cool! We love sitting by the marina and enjoying the great food. And dreaming about boats and water. We sure miss our Canadian friends more than you will ever know. Our plans this summer were to head to Newfoundland to do the trip we could not do last summer due to covid. Looks like the border will stay closed too long to allow us to go again this year. Bummer. We know it’s a bummer for you guys too. Maybe soon.
Maggie is a great travel dog and Happy Birthday to her. Also Happy Mothers Day. We are on the road ourselves in Thermopolis Wy. It's very windy here today winds of 25, but it's a great time to catch up with our favorite You Tubers. Enjoy the journey.
Hi guys, great video. Happy Birthday Maggie! Sorry guys I usually have a joke or funny comment but it hasn’t been a great weekend. Our little girl has just started yelping when she gets up from her bed or tries to jump on our bed. I think it’s her back legs but we will check with the vet next week. Her breed are known to have hip displacement so we are a little worried about that. We were told that her breed usually live from 10 to 13 years old and our little girl is 10. Stay blessed and safe guys. ❤️🇨🇦❤️ Cheers!!!
Happy Birthday Beautiful Maggie! Seeing her riding the fairy looking out the window with the breeze hitting her face put a huge smile on my face. What was going thru her precious mind? She loves the beach and water.
We were on Ocracoke last summer during hurricane teddy. The road to the Hatteras ferry terminal over washed and we were trapped for 5 days. The national park campground floods during the over wash events and we had to change sites. Not sure if the ferry from Cedar island to Ocracoke still requires a reservation...check before you plan your trip. Even with the hurricane and covid we still had a great time.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle naw, teddy was 1,000 miles off shore we just had the wind and wind driven waves. Couldn't go out on the beach as the waves were sweeping the beach to the dune line. Thanks again for a quiet moment of Zen on a Sunday morning. I look forward to your adventures no matter where you go because of the peaceful, calm time your videos bring. Happy Birthday to the Magster. Looks like she had the most fun on this trip. She really is living her best life along with you two. I am pretty sure y’all already know this but it seems like you’ve found the key to a happy life. Living in a beach town myself, I know the power of time spent watching the waves roll in and back out again. There is something soothing about that if you let your cares recede and live right in that moment. We’re hoping the 3 Mile Bridge will re-open next week in time for the long weekend. It has been shut down since September after Hurricane Sally ripped some barges loose that damaged the bridge and the new parts that were under construction. If it opens up, we are hoping to make a trip out to Santa Rosa Island with our son and his family. We’ll pack a lunch and head for Langdon Beach (near Ft. Pickens) and go in for some beach therapy. Good for what ails you.....as long as you remember the sun screen! 😉 See y’all next week in another chapter of your ever unfolding story.
You videos are very inspiring and easy going, love them . We are retiring soon and waiting for our storyteller to arrive end of the year. For sure a lot of your suggestion and places will be on our list of places to visit
Thank you for your kind words. Congratulations on your Storyteller and on retiring soon. It’s a good time to start planning on all the places you want to go.
been to ocracoke a few times and I used to spend my summers as a teen near swansboro, (actually called bear creek area) which was many moons ago, and we visit theouter banks every so often during october but last oct was so many people it was hard to find a room.
Great video. Wing from NC that’s an area that’s an area up that way I’ve never been. I do see a trip up that way next year for sure thanks for sharing 🤙
My wife and I love the Outer Banks. We spent several days visiting the Hatteras area. It rained the entire time we were there but it was still beautiful. We found a great restaurant and ate breakfast and dinner there. Lunch was usually in the cabin or a picnic in the car on the beach. We have thought about retiring in Manteo.
I love the outer Banks I have a truck camper i stay in the nps campgrounds also i go there a do some fishing . really enjoyed the video , hope you are enjoying your trip
Why are you not using the Rocker chairs any longer? I just got us two and love them so far. Seems I never sit very long; always something to do or somewhere to go. Keep up the good work/travels
Thank you so much for sharing all your adventures with us. I am always impressed with your approach to finding the wonderful campgrounds and interesting places to stop and visit. I have a question about your E Bikes. I bought 2 Rad Minis after being encouraged by the ease with which you ride your bikes and how much you obviously enjoy them. I bought the Hollywood Rack, as recommended by Rad, but I cannot load the bikes on to the rack myself. My husband just lifts them up and makes it look easy. I know you have a Thule rack, and I have a few questions to ask you, if you don't mind. Can you open your back doors with the rack released to the downward position? Do your bikes wobble around when you drive? Can Lynn load the bikes by herself if she had to? We are in our late 60's and have a RAM Promaster 3500. Thank you so much for always having practical solutions and honest advice.
Yes, we can open our back door with the rack released, but we do have step extension does make easier. We had to put an extension on the Travato to make it work on that van, here’s a link to a video that shows more about the Thule rack if you are interested ua-cam.com/video/a3-mA0VvxgE/v-deo.html. The rack does come with a ramp that would make loading the bikes easier for me to do by myself, but we don’t use them. I cannot lift the bikes by myself either, it is something we usually do together but Owen has done it by himself. The hitch on the Revel is more sturdy than the Travato and helps a lot with any wobbling or moving of the bikes as we are driving down the road. I hope this help.
Yep. Been to ocracoke many times and that "campground" is nothing more than a field. Destroyed a couple of tents in storms so quit that. That cold shower did not help.
Here’s the Amazon link Bike Cover - Waterproof Outdoor Bicycle Storage For 1, 2 or 3 Bikes - Heavy Duty Ripstop Material - 2 Styles: Stationary and Transportation - Offers Constant Protection All Through The 4 Seasons. We also have it in our Amazon store in the “Bike” section here’s that link if you are interested www.amazon.com/shop/VanTrekkingLifestyle. We has worked well for us.
Absolutely love this video! You three are a treasure! How did you transport your RAD e-bikes on this trip without the trailer? Was looking for your Thule rack from a previous video at 14:10 in this video, but saw none. Had you taken the rack off at that point? Or did you carrying the bikes inside? If still using the Thule, do you have to remove the rack to open the back doors? We're considering the new Lectric XP 2.0 folding e-bikes, but are having a tough time figuring how we'd transport them on our Travato. Thanks, and keep up the great times! We look forward to each new video!
We did use the Thule rack on this trip. We had taken it off the van at 14:10. I’m going to attach a link to a old video that shows how we used the rack with our Travato, it does work the same with the Revel (with the revel we have a step extension and we don’t have to do anything for reinforcement) I hope this helps. ua-cam.com/video/a3-mA0VvxgE/v-deo.html
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle Outstanding! Answered a lot of my questions and since you had the T at that point, it was exactly what I needed. I know the Revel has a much stronger hitch than the Travato does. Did you end up reinforcing your T's hitch? Or using the straps? If not, was there any noticeable hitch bending after some trips with it? Seems the straps would be great just to stop the bouncing if for nothing else. It would scare me to have that e-bike investment doing a Happy Dance back there! Finally, how long was the extension, and how much total length does this assembly add to the back of the van? Thanks again Owen! Really appreciate you taking the time to respond.
No we never did reinforce the hitch. We did use 2 straps to connect the bike rack to the door hinges. But, that makes it a pain to open the doors. The hitch extension was 8 inches. Nose to tail it made us a little over 23 feet with the bikes and rack and extension on. Will help anytime you need it. Thanks for being with us.
Love watching your travels. When you leave the RV I am assuming the AC is running for Maggie. Do you have an alarm warning of ACFailure while away from your rig? Just curious. Am shopping for. a class b and thinking about everything as I have a dog too.
Thank you for watching and connecting with us. No we do not have an alarm. We used the Waggle pet temp warning device for 2 years… but it only works when there’s a Verizon network available so when we traveled to Alaska we paused it and never started back. We know our rig… we know what the batteries will do and how long they’ll last in most situations. We get back well before that deadline and feel fine. But that also depends on temps. When it’s 70-75 outside and we can park in the shade or there’s a breeze Maggie is fine with nothing on. 75-85 and we run A/C and leave a fan blowing on her. Hotter than that and we don’t go unless we’re plugged in to power or she’s very close to us so we can check on her. Hope this helps.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle Thank you. Very helpful. I am still shopping for the best camper and for me. Will probably wait until next spring to purchase one. Trying to learn as much as possible in the mean time. Watching the two of you and your travels makes me want to be on the road and enjoy the sites. Stay safe and be well!
Hi Owen, Lynn, and Maggie - question for you - how do you make sure your power is good enough to cool Maggie while you are off on your adventures away from the van (especially when boondocking? We have a Travato and when not hooked up to power, we worry that our pups may get too hot or that the power will cut off. We got a Blink Camera from Amazon that has a temperature gauge that we can check, but we were just wondering how you guys do things? Thanks!
When we had the Travato we used a Pet monitor but that you can set to send you a text when the temperature get above a certain temperature, but there was a monthly fee associated. We haven’t used it with the Revel since we can run the AC and we haven’t had the Revel in the hot part of summer. We will probably start using a monitor because I do worry about the AC turning off for some reason. We may check out the Blink camera, do you like it and feel it is realiable?
We feel pretty safe traveling with our eBikes. We have locks on the bike rack to the hitch and also the rack itself has a lock for each bike where it is attached and then we also have two Titanium locks that we wrap around each bike and then we cover them. I do feel better when we take the trailer and the bikes are not exposed. thanks for the question.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle Can I ask what brand & model of titanium locks you use? I was thinking whatever lock I choose for my ebike, I'm going to have to carry around in my saddle bag if we bike around a small town. I was also looking into the bike locks with an alarm that goes off if someone tries to cut into the cable or even shakes around the lock.
Last time I was there, a thug with a gun and a blue light would come if i let my puppy off the leash for a run and swim. Disgusting. It's why I quit going after 35 years.
A pups birthday on the beach....dang, it doesn't get any better. Happy Birthday Maggie!

It seems like a great place to fish, we’ve seen a lot of people taking advantage of that. Thanks so much for watching.
Why are you not using the Rocker chairs any longer? I just got us two and love them so far. Seems I never sit very long; always something to do or somewhere to go. Keep up the good work/travels
We take the rockers when we take the trailer, there just isn’t enough room in the van. We love them too.
We didn't make it there in March, drove down to Cape Hatteras ferry terminal, very windy while we where there.
Thanks for sharing.
Yep. Been to ocracoke many times and that "campground" is nothing more than a field. Destroyed a couple of tents in storms so quit that. That cold shower did not help.
We love it there but it would have been hard to tent camp while we were there, the wind was fierce.
I was almost expecting Luciano Pavarotti to show up when you said the tenors (tenters) stay here. I am like what the heck they do with the Sopranos...
😂. Yeah, our NC southern, hurry up and say what you’re saying shows up every now and then.
I am a proud Hickorite from Catawba and Alexander counties so I appreciate it.
Good day thanks for the video…please list what cover that you have for your bikes!
I noticed your pixels are off on your camera on this and the last video. Happy Belated Birthday Maggie. Peace to you Be safe.
Thanks for letting us know, we noticed that too and think we have it fixed. Peace to you too.
Do you need A/C or is it tolerable this time of year with open windows?
We did not run the A/C. During the day we just kept the windows open at night we run our little fans, with the windows open. So it was very tolerable.
Looks like you had lots of fun guys! Happy Birthday sweet Maggie

The Ferry ride looked a little spooky. I get nervous when I can’t see land.
We felt pretty comfortable on the ferry. But I don’t like not being able to see land either.
Basics are generally priced very close to mainland prices at the Variety store
Thank you for the information.
Do they allow any RV trailers?
They should allow trailers but make sure the campsite is big enough for you.
Have y'all got a different rig? Haven't watched your channel in a while.
We replace the Travato with a Revel, a bit smaller 19 ft instead of 21 ft. Glad to have you back.
It’s great watching a van video without millennial music.....
Thank you!!!
We appreciate you watching and for taking the time to comment.
double like
Double thank you!
How many children do you have (not counting Maggie!)?
We have 3 children, 2 girls and 1 boy, all grown and 5 grandchildren.
You had to be the coolest parents!! Do your children enjoy camping?
There’s a heatwave coming your way. Better head to the northwest.
One of these days we are going to get there.
Nice place, just bring a solar shower setup with you.
We were lucky we had a nice hot shower in the van. Thanks for watching.
Last time I was there, a thug with a gun and a blue light would come if i let my puppy off the leash for a run and swim. Disgusting. It's why I quit going after 35 years.
Wow, that’s horrible... I might quit going to if that happened to us. Thanks for sharing.
Happy Birthday Maggie
