Literally was looking if any other commenter has noticed it/commented on it. You can tell that the camera hung on her for a second longer. What an entitled woman. Also puts it in what clearly is an access lane, so people will have to avoid it.

I've started calling these people out in person. I'm tired of their selfish behavior
Where is the cart narc when you need him 😢
No disrespect to Donut or anything, but only halfway through this video I'm realizing how creatively stifled you were there. The production quality, overall vibe and laid back atmosphere you both provide here is unmatched. Love ya boys
I've already learned so much in the first two videos. Donut didn't let them get too technical
About the production quality: yes, it doesn't feel like an amateur production but at the same time it's much more laid back than the corporate hellscape that Donut has become. These kinds of videos ala Money Pit were the reason I and many other people fell in love with Donut. Zach and Jeremiah are NAILING it.

Hey Jerry... some advice brother. I don't drive them but my dad did for years and it was my first 'vehicle' I got to 'drive' as a kid while I was on his lap. The flaps covering the grill are for when it's cold outside so that the truck doesn't get too cold when running so it runs more efficient. When it's hot, you don't want that to even be on the truck at all. Secondly, the biggest obstacle to dailying that thing (other than the things you mentioned and showcased here) is that it's so inefficient... it's meant to haul. So you'll want to do everything you can to make it more efficient, in any way possible.. aero, tires, keeping it clean with a good breather and exhaust, using the highest gears you can with little throttle. Also, you don't want to use your brakes a ton... with big trucks you want to use your transmission to slow down a lot and brakes are more for supporting that effort and for emergencies.
I'm sure there are people that know a lot more than me, but as a supporter of y'all I hope that helps at all. Additionally, if you REALLY want to get some great advice and really make this project go far and be entertaining and be amazing on your channel... then I'd recommend hitting up either "The Kenworth Guy" since he's a Kenworth focused knowledge bank (www.youtube.com/@AndyTheKenworthGuy), "DGHD" as he's a down-home wrencher that can do anything and has practical experience tearing into these things (www.youtube.com/@DGHD/featured), or last and not least "Mike the Truck Nut" (www.youtube.com/@mikethetrucknut)... specifically his video tackling a truck similar to yours ---> ua-cam.com/video/oPIgw8T1UWo/v-deo.html
I know you guys typically don't get too serious about these kinds of trucks and are more into cars and bikes... but you've stepped into a world that is more brotherly than even the car scene brother. It's one I wish I got into like my dad but he refused and wanted me to do more than be a trucker like him (it was a different world in the 70s/80s I guess). Anyways, RIP dad and good luck BIGTIME!
THANK YOU for mentioning the grill flaps. Don’t wanna overheat that sucker first few trips out
Love the new channel and content so far. I’m a truck driver and actually a CDL instructor at a school. If you really want to know how to run that 13 speed properly I can help.
Also don’t forget about truck stops. They’re built bigger so getting around is easier and there’s usually a shop that works on them and sells parts, tires, etc. As mentioned above, either check out other UA-cam channels or find/talk to diesel techs. I’m also not sure what the rules are for driving a not-for-hire air brake vehicle on the road is. May be fine around here but in California it may be different.
truck driver here yes down shift and use the jake brake to slow down you only want to use the servive brakes to slow down under 30mph

All gas pumps have a $150 limit. You need to fuel at a truck stop to fill up completely without it cutting off. Great content, love it man!!!
you also get the bigger nozzle at truck stops so you can fill way faster
It depends on the gas station some limit it lower actually. It all just depends on the hold they ping your debit card for. Most of the time if you pay in cash inside there is not a limit.
@@LewdnCute It's not the gas station that prevents people from getting more than 150 at the pump It's the bank that people fill up their card with

"Bye Jerry" *10 solid seconds of Wayne walking away silently*
I was expecting a "You need a ride?" or something at that point.

Wayne deserved his 10 seconds for being the hero for getting this truck for them.
He knows what parts cost for big rigs. He was thinking GOOD LUCK BOYS later lol.
I kept expecting Jerry to say "sucker..." under his breath there.
Pausing to talk about the motor, its details, and a quick “what is a 2-stroke” explainer is why these boys will go far. Exactly what I was thinking and wondering, delivered to me on a silver platter the moment I wanted it.
It's very Intuitive
Could've used that exact explanation in college lmao
I'm surprised there's a 2 stroke engine for a big vehicle. Heck, after googling there's Kawasaki two stroke marine diesel engine. I love two strokes and have daily moped for work

As a guy who grew up working on semi trucks with my grandpa, this is very cool. I'm excited to see more of this truck, and to see the work you guys do to it
Being a Florida man myself. I’m proud to see you can take Jerry outta Florida but can’t take the Florida outta Jerry. “Let’s buy a 50 year old big rig and daily drive it through LA” most Florida man thing I’ve heard all day.
The way things are filmed and edited are beyond perfect. When Wayne’s walking away, I said to myself, “they’re gonna just keep it going till it’s awkward” and as soon as I felt it, bam. Just primo stuff here guys.

Boys, the camera work, the writing, the charisma, everything is coming together perfectly.
This is what I loved about the old donut. The absurd builds. The hilarious moments, the pure enjoyment of being in the moment. I'm looking forward to this channel successfully running!
My dad was a truck driver for decades. Two things. His 1984 Freightliner FLC120 put 2.4 million miles on a single engine block. In his words he has worked on or replaced everything on that engine except the block. It finally gave up the ghost after nearly 35 years on the road. Second thing that I am going to predict you did realize that that bigger everything means you need bigger tools. I can't wait until you see the kind of wrenches and socket sets you need for a big rig.
The camera outside the car for the driving dialog hits HARD!
That was a really good touch.
agreed that was cool af
I'm glad someone else noticed that. I'm a huge nerd and was amazed by that shot.
I was about to say the same thing, really cool stuff
I, to myself, said 'damn thats a beautiful shot' some Tarantino shit
Was not expecting the immediate purchase of a big rig. Jerry heard the saying "go big or go home," and he HATES being at home.
Thats why hes always at Jobes house.
@@bamba7aI thought he was one of them perpetual couch surfers tbh.
At this point, he doesn't actually have a home
The channel ain't called small time lol
I hope they make a return on this investment. I bought a F-650 tow truck and I wasn’t expecting $1200/month insurance, up to $3000/month on diesel, $600 tire change, $200 oil changes and god forbid you need to be towed a Class 8 wrecker charges $300/hr from when they leave their yard till they get back. Also, you can’t legally park a vehicle over 18,000lbs on a residential street.
70s jazz track playing while a cab over does laps of downtown LA was pure gold. Keep up this production quality lads!
Some advice. 2 strokes love to rev. Don't lug them like a 4 stroke. Rev it out to almost redline on every shift. And when you want to wash it just Google truck wash and run it through there they will do it all for you and it's like 50-$100 and just wash it like twice a year. Lol
Redlining it sounds like a stupid idea even for a two stroke.
@@kiddy1992 then you know nothing about 2 stroke engines.. especially the older diesels. They don't make power at all until the top of the rev range.
When they sound like they’re about to rip apart that’s where they like it. They sound like they’re revving super high but that’s because you have 2x the exhaust pulses of a 4 stroke. They still aren’t revving very high. Maybe 3k rpm.
Never. EVER. Have I seen a channel start out soooo strong as what BigTime has. Awesome to witness

That failed U-Turn was gold. I'm so here for this fellas.
I sadly did that when my impala was new (on a smaller road) and I just dailied my sportbike for 3 years LOL it felt like I went from a speedboat to a cargo ship.
When I was helping new drivers learn I'd tell them on U-Turns "Don't halfway it. You gotta all-the-way it. Get wide and then turn that wheel as far as it will go (usually 2½ times)"
There was further instruction involving not letting the trailer fold up the sleeper, but the heart of it is getting wide and using full turn power from the get. Also the slower you go the tighter you will turn. Because if you try to put any pedal in it you'll run over your own tires. Creep it.

As a Diesel Mechanic, step 1 is buying an ace torch, and putting a rosebud tip on it. 99% of your problems can be solved with a little bit of heat
Can't be tight if it's a liquid
Step 2 would be to buy an electric grease gun and a case of grease tubes. That’ll potentially save a fuck ton of money down the road
Make sure the tires are fully pressurized to normal spec which is typically 95-110 psi depending on load rating. I doubt you have anything above 110psi. I don’t know what California laws are with inspections, but most brand new not recapped semi tires start with 24/32 of tire tread and the minimum is 2/32. Those Michelins could last 150k plus miles easily with no load on it. And you may have different tire treads on the steer axle compared to the drive axle. Fun little fact for ya each wheel (rim and tire) on 22.5 steel rims weigh aprox 275-300 lbs.
A set of 3/4" sockets tools. 1/2" is not going to touch chassis bolts.
I love how the top comments here are legit helpful
And when a little bit of heat doesn't help. You can just use a lot of heat and it solves the last 1% 😂

That animation at 8:12 will probably go unnoticed since it’s so flawless and helpful. But that is very creative, digitally manipulating the photo in the book to make your animation. Great!
Agreed. That was one of those "wow, how'd they do that" moments when I saw it.
As a graphics designer, I can already imagine what it was like for the animator, because I love projects like this, but there are always technical bits that can easily get misinterpreted when translated into a graphic. The feedback from experts like Jobe and Jerry would probably be more like “do this to make it look cooler!” Instead of “no, that part’s supposed to look like this!”

Take that front white cover off the grille. It’s meant for winter and cold weather to keep the coolant temp warm.
25 gallons? How far do you think you're going to get on that? Don't push the clutch all the way to the floor unless you are completely stopped. Dump the air tanks every night. Keep the brakes adjusted, you need to do that about once a month. (It's easy, look it up) Put a shot of grease in the pilot bearing ASAP ( I'm sure it's dry) grease the whole truck. Get that winter front off the rig immediately! Don't drive it in the rain until you get a little more experience, it's going to be a handful.

FYI, that thing rides so rough because theres no weight on it. that suspension is made to have a big oll full trailer on the back in which case it would feel nice and floaty. Since you are missing about half that weight... it feels like steel rods connected to your spine.

One of the biggest issues with US type trucks. With our European ones, you can still feel it, it's a natural thing, a thing made for something will never feel right without it, BUT... i'd take one of our trucks for "a daily" than this. It should be named the boneshaker. On our trucks, even underweight, the suspension still feels like you're driving a slightly pudgy sedan.

There are a couple things to watch out for on that Detroit:
Don't ever let the coolant temperature get above about 200 degrees. The cylinders are sealed to the head with o-rings and too high of a temperature will melt them.
If that is a pre-DDEC engine, make sure the rack is adjusted properly, If the rack gets stuck in the full-fuel position it will run away.
Does that engine have an emergency stop flapper in the blower? If it does and you ever need to use it, check the blower seals as the sudden vacuum tends to destroy the seals.
Two-stroke Detroits are very sensitive to intake and exhaust restrictions so check the air filter and muffler to make sure they aren't plugged up.
And someone has decided to close half of radiator opening hole with these doors, in LA. Very strange temp. management.
This is the exact kind of content that made everyone love Donut. Please don't ever change guys, we need you more than ever.
unironically, 4:18 is such a sick and creative shot i love the way you filmed it
the camera angle from outside of car in 4:54 ius so insane LOVE THE BIGTIME EDITING STYLE AND CAMERA WORK
this is classic top gear level stuff. Insane used vehicle, buddies messing with each other, guys who shouldnt be driving things driving them. Massive smile plastered accross my face watching Jer drive it for the first time. A++
Oh the top gear influence is huge. These dudes are gonna be just fine
They are about to take it to Thailand and give it a sick Thai paint job before driving through the Golden Triangle...
12:49 the laughter and body giggles say it all. The big rig is here to stay
I grew up in a similar fashion idolizing truck drivers due to my dad being an owner op.
I was sad when the market crashed and he chose to sell the truck he and I loved just to meet emissions requirements in the state of California.
I never saw the same truck up until recently when I spotted an identical truck in Utah with a blown motor within my budget in a random ad listing.
It’s a 93 freightliner CO
Only problem is I don’t have a way to get it to Los Angeles .. I’d drive it but the motor is blown..
I wish I could see his face as he saw his old metal horse again after all these years..
I just wanna restore it with him and take it to truck shows together..
Definitely can tell that Jerry wrote the scripts for Up to Speed. 1:56
Feels like home
@@FIR6123 every day i hope for an Up To Speed video.... Alas it will never come
As a diesel parts advisor, let me tell you. Parts for big rigs are EXPENSIVE! Plus, the older they are the less parts are available off the shelf. That being said,
Can't wait to see the build!
Went to college to be a diesel mechanic and I almost choked when I saw the thumbnail for this exact reason 😂
@@trevorgreene9951 I am going to college for diesel tech, any advice you can give?
Yep, I feel a "why did I buy this truck" video in the future 😂😂
I have to buy parts for a fleet of 20 trucks and fix them and my lord the prices are insane and turbo replacements aren’t uncommon as well as many other computer issues are wonky asf
@@eve__________Boost problems are going hell with this thing but at least he doesn’t have to worry about his infotainment bricking itself
Those speedbumps in the tractors will make you feel like you're gonna fly out the cabin even at slow slow speeds
