To be fair, he does have the expertise, so people shouldn't be telling him that he's wrong. No one's flawless, but Alvin is still the professional here. No hate to Eric, but he definitely shouldn't have questioned the chef.

Eric and Alvin's interactions through Season 1 were great. It was like a student learning from the master and Alvin was in his corner all the way trying to see if he had what it took. Considering they're business partners now, it turned out really well.

Honestly Eric's first dish really didn't seem so impressive ,so for him to get to the title and where he is now (partnering with Alvin) , really does show how much hes learned and developed

David seems so kind and genuine. I just loved seeing his happiness and his love for his family. I’m so happy he won.

I love how the entirety of season one Eric was constantly pushed by Alvin and pushed in the ways on the right direction.
I absolutely love Mary. She’s beautiful and her aura lights me up.. makes me smile. She’s so upbeat and I’ve been sad recently and seeing Mary just talk and smile and cook almost makes me have hope.
I KNOW RIGHT. she's got to be my favourite, like she's humble,helps out other people, doesn't get jealous and overall is an amazing cook. ugh i just love her

Eric's "You're Alvin Leung, you're a chef, you're an engineer, and you're living my dream," and the cut to him wearing the apron with the doors dramatically opening and the music just all gave me goosebumps. By far one of my favorite MasterChef Canada moments by a longshot.

Chef Alvin knew Eric was going to win since the moment he saw it, the argue convinced Alvin that the kid needed to learn before being a proper chef.
Basically the whole season 1 was about developing Eric's ability and Alvin pushing him hard until the very last moment.

David, beccy, and Trevor literally killed the competition, everyone was terrified of their skills. Eric really worked hard to be the winner, I’m glad Alvin saw potential in him. Mary never looked away from her goals, she is always so bright but true to herself. I loved it when she said she didn’t want to win by relying on others. And Jennifer! Her creativity and originality is out of this world!
All the winners truly deserved it.
I think what Chef Alvin is pointing out on Eric is that not to have a different opinion, but to listen to other's opinion (especially from a chef) and consider it. Because if you just think you're always right and won't listen, you won't learn and no one will like to teach you.
After Eric's audition, he didnt smile anymore 😬

All the Masterchef Canada champions just blow me away. I've watched most of the series through UA-cam videos alone: Eric learning humility and honing his talent under chef Alvin's wing, David's skill and love for his family, Trevor being a funky young underdog, Mary being a talented yet sweetheart cook, Beccy being a calm, collected young chef, and Jennifer as a creative cook that thinks outside the box... Even Christopher that I last heard about, who developed his skills further after Masterchef to blow everyone away... Man. All these champions have amazing stories.
Gotta love when Mary comes out doing her super excited dance thing and her family are already doing it back at her 😭☺️

Mary's personality is like a 5 year old and it is soo cute watching her jump up and down as she got the apron. It just melted my heart

Hearing David's story. It really shows his drive to turn his life around and he showed it by winning the MasterChef and not that he alone even making MasterChef shows it

Really great choice by chef Claudio to bring David's family in when making their decision. So wholesome and part of the reason why I love Masterchef Canada.

David was my favorite. He was super humble and always impressed the judges. His two boys where great examples of how good of a person David is and how good of a dad he is also.

The difference between the way chef alvin talked to the other contestants compared to how he did with eric really shows how much he believed in him
Jennifer’s desert was absolutely crazy! I’ve never seen anything like it, just like the judges say, it’s not just a desert it’s an experience.

@@jphi6142 Gordon wouldn't do that. He's pretty much only mean when he needs to be. The rest of the time Gordon is incredibly kind. He will tear you to pieces but he won't embarrass you.

Mary's chicken dance when exiting the audition and her family and friends just doing the same was priceless.
If you could notice, Trevor with the rapport of goofiness made his final dessert and presented it like the ice cream just fell on the plate. He made his so called flaw his signature!✨
David and Jennifer were the most mature contestants ever on masterchef. While Trevor, Becky and Eric were sophisticated persons. While Mary is like my Dream elder sister.She is sooo jolly and happy person.

Season 1 taught me to not stop living you dream
Season 2 taught me to cook for your loved ones is the best thing in the world
Season 3 taught me to always loves sharing your foods with others
Season 4 taught me to believe in yourself even people called you're goofing
Season 5 taught me that age doesn't matter to live up your dream
Season 6 taught me that being yourself is enough to make your dream comes true

I love how Chef Alvin is so suspenseful, he eats it and says nothing, not until they all speak to the cook about their dish
He is just as imposing as Marco Pierre White.
David has the SWEETEST smile it makes my day I love his courage and his back story it’s so beautiful.

I love how Trevor's first dish was noted to need more salt then his last dish had the right amount of salt.
I think the judges should have told David: "It's a beautiful family, but it's a shame we have to keep them apart for a while, cause David it's a yes from us".

I'd also say Eric was also because most people thought he was bad and had the best audition (not just the food but the audition it's self) and it was as if he had an actual story like a protagonist he had to become an engineer cos of his expectations but rebelled

As a father that loves to cook, and cooks every day. When they told JJ to hand his dad the apron, I started crying. I would love to have an opportunity to do something like this, but my skills just aren't there yet

When they were judging Jennifer’s dessert cereal, I felt soooo proud for her. To hear “my dream” from Alvin Leung, and “you can’t teach these skills” from Claudio. Wow, just wow!
