    What about the S52 ? It seems very similar to the 162r (both were recommanded to me; 142 is not interesting for what I'm seeking, namely a feeling as near as possible to a real piano within a reasonable budget - which is why I'm not looking for Clavinova, which are too expansive for my budget).

    What do each of the three pedals do on these pianos (especially the middle one)?

    • @aloysiusdevadanderabercrombie8
      @aloysiusdevadanderabercrombie8 6 років тому +1

      Left is your "soft pedal", which is exactly what it sounds like. In an acoustic piano, it shifts the keys and hammers over a few mm, making the hammers strike less strings and the sound softer and quieter. The far right pedal is a sustain pedal, which is the most commonly used. It also does exactly what it sounds like it'd do. In an acoustic piano, it releases all of the dampers so the strings ring out even after you release the keys. It also more subtly lets other strings vibrate sympathetically, giving a slightly richer sound. The middle is a "sostenuto pedal", which is a sustain pedal that only releases the dampers of the keys being pressed at the moment the pedal is pressed, but no keys played after the pedal is pressed.

    I was wondering what is the cheapest option with Yamaha if what I'm looking for is a step up or two from the GHS key system? It doesn't need a huge load of features, but it must have really good, authentic feeling keys that can handle fast action.
    Been playing the GHS for a few years on a Yamaha KX8. I find the keys to be slow and a little too noisy. I'd like to buy a piano I can play for years and years without feeling the need to upgrade because of key limitations. Very helpful videos you make. Thanks:)

    • @ePianoscouk
      @ePianoscouk  8 років тому

      +Universe Hi, that would be the Yamaha P255 or YDP162. They are the cheapest however if you're really looking for something that never need upgrading perhaps look at the Yamaha Clavinova range, they start at around £939. Hope that helps.

    I've been playing for over two years, and I'd like a digital piano besides my acoustic, what would you recommend? Budget is about 800-900 euro's. But if you recommend something more expensive, I am willing to save up a while longer. I don't care much about all the side features, I just want a good touch and sound. Cheers (:

      +Thijs I Hi, Well these Arius models are great value for money and good for beginners, but have a look at the Clavinova range too, they are more premium products and generally have more quality. I made a video comparing the first two Clavinovas here ua-cam.com/video/1MtyROYZtP4/v-deo.html

    02:54 what is that sound? it it the piano making it or the camera vibrating inside because of the sound? or moving. It didn't sound like that when he played the other piano. Maybe it has a certain pitch that makes the camera sound like it and the other piano has a little different pitch. (reason why i think it's the pitch is because for example when u play a certain pitch against glass, it will behave and shake more than it's used to and eventually it will brake cause the that specifc pitch that makes the glass behave that way)
    Edit: you hear it on the second piano too but it's not as bad. I don't think a £500+ piano has that big of a flaw in the sound, it's most likely the microphone of the cam

    • @ePianoscouk
      @ePianoscouk  7 років тому +1

      Yes occasionally there is a bit of clipping the microphone due to a spike in volume which causes a buzz. But the piano sounds are completely clean, even at full volume.

    Hi. Is there a huge difference between graded hammer (ydp s52) and graded hammer 3 (ydp 163) ? I believe that 163 (GH3) has better realistic touch, but why does s52 (GH) is slightly higher in price compared to 163? 😊

    • @Pompadour123
      @Pompadour123 7 років тому

      Ririanna, I also want the S52 but the GH action is a deal breaker. The YDP-163 is a better choice because it has a GH3 action but I love the design of the S52. From what I know is that GH and GH3 are the same action and both are premium actions found in Yamaha's high end pianos. However there is an extra sensor on the GH3 so a faster note repetition is possible. And I thought the YDP-163 ($1500) is more expensive than S52 ($1300). Lol. I was considering a Casio AP460 but the sound is not good in my opinion. If you want the design of the Yamaha S52 but the key action of the YDP 163, I would go for the Roland F-140R ($1200). The 140R's design is still not as good, sleek, or refined as the Yamaha S52 in my opinion but I heard it's a really good piano. Haha.

    • @arina1402
      @arina1402 7 років тому

      S52 have higher price in my country that's why i confused lol. I was going for 163 but sadly it's out of stock. Perhaps because of the GH3 system. But i don't understand why it's cheaper here. Thanks for your response 😊

      My friend has the Roland F-140R. I like it, it has good action and sound. But it has a "Roland" sound and I prefer the Yamaha's sound. I want to get the ydp-s52, may get it sometime in the summer. I'll deal with the one less sensor. I have a feeling the ydp-s53 will have the GH3 action, but I have no idea when that will come out.

    Hi, I'm actually considering between the DGX650, P115 and the YDP142/162. The DGX650 and P115 are great, but there doesn't seem to be anything that can protect the keys from accidental physical damage (the optional covers only offer dust protection). On the other hand, the YDP142/162 has a cover which serves that function right? :)

    • @ePianoscouk
      @ePianoscouk  8 років тому
