I have been scared of needles for a long time and haven’t had one in about two years, I much prefer it when they don’t talk about it just sit me down ask me about my day and do it. Thank you for making this video. I have my HPV vaccine tomorrow and this is making me feel much better 👍
Hi Josh, don't beat yourself up over it. We knew when developing this video that for some the fear of needles is a massive hurdle. Let alone compounding it with other factors such as a new environment, and being in close proximity with people (especially after a year of social distancing). You did really well to get into the building and sit down with a nurse and your reaction is understandable. If you do try again I wish you the best and try and stack the deck in your favour by telling the staff in advance, even before sitting down for the jab. And if you feel you can’t right now that is also fine, the fact that you came to this video to tell us about your ongoing journey means a lot.
Thank you for this video! It’s a shame the nurse administering my Moderna vaccine wouldn’t let me sit down when I asked. I had to stand up for the injection.
This guy: people are there to support you and to help you through your vaccine. They will help. Me about to have a school needle: are you sure about that?
Hi Charith Pain is subjective, but most describe the sensation of getting the jabs as a scratch and some people simply don’t feel anything at all. Your arm may feel sore/tender for a couple of days like you bumped into a door, but that’s normal. For me I barely felt it thanks to our lovely skilled nurses. When I was a kid many kids after their vaccinations would chase other kids around to punch them in the arm because that would really hurt. So just don’t try and get punched in the arm after getting the jab! Just to be clear though I am a research doctor, not a medical doctor. So after your jab if you have any questions or side effects that you are concerned about talk to your GP.
@@vjmonkey182 Thank you... actually this pandemic situation has forced me to have that experience. Even though I had some shots when I was in school literally I can't remember the feeling. Anyway I have chosen this over my dead. I think hopefully I will have a little pain as you said.
For me, I wouldn’t call it painful, but it’s a horrible feeling. It’s a numbing scratch inside your arm and it sucks. The thought of it makes me feel terrible,
I have to get my HPV vaccine but I’m terrified it’s not the pain that makes me scared it’s just the fact that it’s gonna go into my arm .
the 4 shots right because if so i have to do that

I wish I would just faint. I get horrible panic attacks. I'm crying just thinking about the radioactive shot I need to get this Friday
Been to first appointment for vaccine, couldn't do it. Sat down wht not, spoke to nurse for 10/15 mins, then flinched last second. It's crushing.
