    I am here cuz of the recent video of the Lexus RX theft over at Sheppard and Brimley in Scarborough. I looked up Lexus theft videos and I am shocked at this type of theft. I was considering a Lexus NX, was a bit hesitant after watching that theft video but a more relieved now that there's a solution to combat this type of theft.

    With this system can you send a digital key to other authorized users via smartphone? Btw, is there a way to disable the security when you need to ( for example when you take your car for service , mechanic shop) ?

    • @LockdownSecurity
      @LockdownSecurity  4 роки тому +1

      No you cannot. This system requires one of the three (smartphone, secret button code, rf key) methods to start and drive the vehicle. If you bring your vehicle to the mechanic just ensure they have the factory key along with the rf key to allow them to work on the vehicle.

    What about simply disabling the Key fob everytime you go out of the car?

    • @onespeedlite
      @onespeedlite 9 місяців тому

      There's no need to do it every time. Just disable keyless entry. In some cars, you can change the setting yourself. If your vehicle doesn't have that option, you can ask the dealer to program it. You will be able to lock and unlock the door with your key fob. You will also be able to start your vehicle by placing your key fob close to the push-start button. If you want more protection, install a hidden kill switch to turn off the power to your vehicle's water pump.
      If you are short on cash, you can take the battery out of your key fob. This stops it from emitting signals. Then use the physical key found in your key fob to open the door. By using one of these two methods, you don't have to use a faraday bag/box.

    The original igla vid says the anti hijack works when the door is open for 3 seconds and suddenly driven off then it will shut down. Sounds a bit daft. Can u say whether the more sensible thing, the car simply being driven out of the range of the fob resulting in the engine being stopped works instead?

      These are designed for security in all world markets. While this can happen in North America, it is much more common outside of North America. Driver are lured out of the vehicle, and then a second person drives off. Without the code, after 1KM, they will be asked to enter the code. This feature can be disabled at the time of installation in the configuration, or afterwards by the owner.

    • @LockdownSecurity

      The IGLA does have an anti hijack mode, which can be enabled that would prevent the thief (car jacker) from driving very far away. However, this feature is something you must know how to use, as there is a risk you yourself (the driver) will have the vehicle shut down on you if this feature is utilized. However, if you understand how it works, and know how to use the feature, all is good and it works amazingly.

    Yeah sorry - not buying it. Adding another relay system (of a different technology) to a relay system... It's just as hackable as the first. Watching this video I can see three ways that I could potentially crack the system... the question is just how much time it takes. 1) brut force pin attack 2) man in the middle wireless interception 3) electronics bypass (if you know what system this is and do a quick lookup on the wiring diagrams or user guides that are freely available with a quick internet search.

    • @LockdownSecurity
      @LockdownSecurity  2 роки тому +2

      All of those would take you knowing the vehicle is equipped with the system, and having the time to accomplish any of them, which in the real world both scenarios are close to zero percent likelihood. Is any anti theft measure hackable: Yes. Would someone take the time to do all these hacks for a Toyota Highlander or equivalent, when there are hundreds of thousands on the road? No, they would simply move on to the next that is not equipped.
      Our offerings are designed to work in the real world, one where time and convenience matters, both to the owner of the vehicle and to the thieves. We make sure our systems are convenient to use for the owner, but a pain in the a** and inconvenient for a thief.

    • @JosephWulf
      @JosephWulf 2 роки тому

      @@LockdownSecurity Thanks for the reply - definite food for thought. Unfortunately... thieves are smart -- and the more that knowledge of such systems such as these becomes available - the smarter "hacks" they will use to get the vehicle they target. (my career is in the digital world where security measures are constantly being cracked...)
      True - we want to make it just difficult enough that they get caught or move on to your neighbor's car instead... but the more difficult we make it to steal cars the better/more hi-tech tools they come up with.... relay theft wasn't a thing when remotes for vehicles came out... the thieves themselves don't make the tools or necessarily have the knowledge of how the relay theft works -- but the information is available and easy to assemble.... a 100v shock mechanism would be nice... until they all start wearing insolating gloves. The locks on our houses can easily be picked by anyone who studies up on how locks work.... or bypassed via a broken or open window... there's so many possibilities - and every measure has its counter-measure... what has a low probability this year has a higher probability next year. I'm mostly rambling - I'm genuinely interested in security systems, and always looking for that perfect security system (especially for my highlander.) In the cyber security world, the "most attacks aren't going to have..." rule works well until your company becomes targeted. Once targeted any information about your security systems becomes useful information that the attackers can use to gain access. True - an individual vehicle isn't worth it to a thief when there are 100s or 1000s of them on the road...

Drop the key fob in there and it's good as dead or removed battery. My car won't unlock even with it right next to the door. And won't start even with it in the vehicle.
