I recently bought the R5 and didn’t even k ow that the time lapse mode made it into a video file. Thanks for that! Also - as you say - just a good reminder to do these more.
I'm not sure about the R5c as I don't own it but I would think the menu system would be very similar or the same. Make sure your in the correct mode. Menu options change based on the mode (video vs photo)
Hi Mike...excellent video...I must admit I havent tried doing time lapse photography but after watching your video Im going to try it. 2 questions...which technique ( in video or photo mode) do you recommend in setting up the time lapse on the r5 and why. And second what post editing software do you recommend that is user friendly...thanks
I do the video mode most. Its just so much easier. I have one of the customizable settings all set up for the R5 so I can instantly go into time lapse. I always use Lightroom classic as my primary editing platform however Luminar NEO is my secret weapon. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thanks for the correction Moni. I know most professionals use the term mirrorless rather than DSLR but the average person will recognize the intended meaning of the DSLR a little clearer than the technically correct term mirrorless. I appreciate you watching and contributing.
Nice video, thanks. What (if any) are the advantages of using video mode vs photo mode to do time-lapse videos. I believe on the 5D M4 one advance was that you could take higher quality 6k ish time-lapse videos in photo/still mode vs movie mode.
It depends on the camera but it mainly the post processing. The camera does a good job stitching everything together but you have much more control doing it in post. Thanks for watching.
Battery life is pretty good. You can easily do several long time lapses but I've never timed it down to the minute/second. Thanks for watching and commenting
Not sure how I missed this one. I'm sorry. In the long run yes however the individual method requires more work but allows for better editing and therefor quality.
I'm confused. In photo mode it only gives options for interval and no. of shots (99 maximum). That doesn't seem to be nearly enough to make a 10 second clip. ???
Great video, I have one question in timelapse video mode (4K or 8K) what is the minimum shutter speed you can set in for instance aperture priority mode is it 1/30? or can you go lower thank you
I may not understand exactly what you are asking but I shot a 6 hour Astro timelapse last night with the shutter set at 20 seconds for each shot. You have to use mechanical or 1st curtain shutter mode to shoot slower than .5 seconds. (I'm not sure this is relevant to video tuberosities though) instagram.com/daveybphotos to see what I got. The video timelapse mode is so much less work than using the intervalometer but not as flexible on first glance, I may change my mind.
Did you know the Canon R5 is the only hybrid mirrorless camera which will output a completed time-lapse movie in full 8K resolution ? I believe the excellent Nikon Z9 only has a maximum output of 4K resolution for time-lapse movies.

Glad I could help!
Hi ! Thanks for the video ! I have the canon r5c but I can't find the timelapse option, like on the R5. Can you help me ?

Hey Mike, Thanks for the video. Very informative. Just subscribed. I look forward to watching more of your content.
Awesome to have your support.
Great tutorial, thanks.
Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate you watching.
Great, short tips! I'm gonna try these today. Thanks for posting. The R5 is not a DSLR, btw. I know. It doesn't matter to the average viewer.

Nice. Thankyou 🙂

What about battery life? How long can you shoot without charging it?

Very good video 😊👍👍
Thank you 👍
I like your video very good please add my subscription I will also add your subscription thank you 😊🔔🔔🔔
So both methods you showed create internal "movies" that download as video clips?

Not sure what you mean here. Can anyone else?
@@MikeWilley put it to 00 photos and that makes it unlimited.

Its a beast of a camera. Thanks for commenting and watching.
Nice video, but the first 2:43 seconds is just background information that most of us already have. After that, it's all good.
Thanks for the feedback
How large of a file does the 6 second video create? What if you did a 20 second video? Thanks Mike!
It would have to do with your settings but not very big at all. I'm sorry I missed this comment.
Are you using the European edition ? I have an American edition bought from Texas and I don’t have the option to do what you’re doing. Weird
No, its directly from Canon USA. Maybe try and update the firmware?
The R5 is not a DSLR.
Correct. If I said something otherwise, sorry for the mistake.
emmmm I can't find the time lapse movie thing my camera 🥲🥲🥲
Make sure your in video mode, go to the camera menu (red), screen 2, second option "Time-Lapse Movie"
