Transitions XTractive can be activated inside the car. They don't necessarily rely on UV light to be activated but they don't activate inside buildings. They get dark slightly about 30% in car.
I just bought some green frameless transition gen 8, but I’ll definitely get the photo flash next. Please do a video showing both sides with photo flash lens outside….thanks

Are they darker now and days ? I always hated that they weren't dark enough
They go pretty dark, but not as dark as the best sunglasses. Which is kind of the point as they aren't supposed to replace sunglasses, just enhance your everyday glasses
I really like the silver frames with the purple tint. How many years do these types of lenses last? Is it time or wear dependent?
Warrantied for 2 years, but typically last at least 3-4. Sometimes longer

i am wondering whether to get photochromic reading glasses. do i need them while mostly being indoors.
If you get photofusion x then you have blue light protection when indoors and then sun protection outdoors.
Do these work for replacement of blue cut lenses?(computer use)
Photofusion X which is coming out soon will have complete blue light protection as well as being photochromic!
Blue cut are not necessary .. science has not proved that blue light from devices damages our eyes so why pay extra

Especially if you're gonna get Zeiss it will be 380$-ish for standard plain prescription w/ reduced reflection thingy... if thick (mine were)
If you want to get them thinner/ size reduced to fit the frames better and not warp the perception of your eyes (people looking at you), it's an extra 60-80$
Some places let you do installments for the purchase to reduce the stress of doing a massive purchase.. which this can be.
I paid 190 giving it to them, then will pay 190 when I come to pick them up.
Also, some places don't have all the photo fusion colors,
You can call in ahead of time and ask them if they can do it for you (some people are nicer than others to oblige) and they'll ask you to send a photo of your prescription and your name with it & what color is it you may request so they can ask Zeiss themselves.
I tried doing it today just buying a new pair of glasses and got a refreshed Glasses prescription, and went somewhere else for Zeiss lenses for my area didn't have it and lo & behold, they had only 5 colors. Grey, brown, green, another grey, & blue.
No ruby for me, but i'm currently waiting for them to see if they can ask Zeiss on the ruby color for the place I went to has never done that before for a customer's glasses....
EDIT: I didn't go to The Spectacle Factory for my lenses!

Transitions XTRActive change behind the windshield of a car, and the new generation version gets even darker.
That's true, but still nowhere near as dark as true sunglasses, and certainly not protective enough to be safe for driving in certain situations. Many people buy Transitions Xtractive thinking they will only need one pair of glasses but it's wishful thinking unfortunately.
