    First of all, thank you for a very nice video and I appreciate your affords a lot. I am a fan of your channel. I thank you for the informative and educational content you provide - in this video and other as well :)
    Now about the lenses, I hope you can give me some advices -
    Currenty I own the stock photofusion X one but I got some unpleasant reflective light sometimes around the edge that caught my attention all of a sudden - mostly a reflection from artificial light I think and it is pretty dangerous when I was driving too. Though I know that it is not especially design to be wore driving at night, it is the time when these reflections are at worst. Is this normal?
    Idk whether this is because of the blue light protection or not as it tends to reflect the blue light, highlighting the unnatural reflection experience. It is my first glasses so may be I just don't get used to it yet. I don't know much about how things should be.
    Anyways, this made me thinking of having a drivesafe instead as it has anti-reflective coat which I hope it will solve this problem. However I'm still indecisive whether it can be an all-round lenses or not as I spend lots of time reading too - both from screens and books
    Btw, a condition in my country is quite different from UK. It is very sunny with harsh sunlight to the extend that sometimes the tint is activated- pretty dark inside of a car. I don't know if this a factor causing the problem or not.

    I have three pair of glasses with PhotoFusion X, and my problem with Transitions is not the reaction time -- I just don't care -- but I think PhotoFusion is superior because the colors of the lenses are BEAUTIFUL. Transitions are AWWWWWWWWFUL. The "grey" is this terrible shade I call Molester Purple. Yikes, lol. There is always a terrible undertone. The grey in PhotoFusion is gorgeous. The sapphire is stunning. That's why I love them. PhotoFusion does not get as dark as Transitions. I will die on that hill. But I don't care about that either.

However I’ve never seen them go as dark outdoors as they did when the optician tested them in store under his UV testing lamp, so that’s a bit disappointing. Perhaps Zeiss can fix that in their next version of Photofusion technology.

    Hi mate, would any tint + flash be suitable for indoor use (eg computer, reading etc)? I saw you recommended the extra grey + diamond flash, would that work? Would you say the lens wide open is clearer or darker than the Hoya Sensity Shine Silver?
    In short, I love the mirror look (Zeiss or Hoya) but I'm worried that the default tint might be a tad too dark for all indoor usage.
    I have Zeiss Adaptive Sun Polarized for 100% outdoor situations but I always get pissed when it's just a short trip followed by going indoor and needing to read something (eg. go see a doctor); with the Adaptive Sun it's too dark, without them I'm too blind, and guess what, I forgot the standard pair of glasses at home :))

    How clear are the PhotoFusion X in the when it is the clearest (indoor in the dark without UV) compared to Transitions Gen 8? I don’t have a problem with reaction time but I do have a problem with the fact that my Essilor Varilux X 4D Transitions Gen 8 (brown) give a slight yellow/brown tint indoor even if not exposed to any UV-light. I like the concept of having clear lens indoor and sunglasses outdoor without switching glasses. I can’t find the numbers of how clear the different competitors (Essilor Varilux Transitions Gen 8 vs. Zeiss PhotoFusion X vs. PhotoFusion X with Flash Mirror vs. Rodenstock)? Are there any independent tests? Does Zeiss Flash version have more tint indoor than PhotoFusion X without Flash?

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  Рік тому +3

      You can see in the video just how clear they are indoors. The flash does add more tint indoors (which most people greatly prefer).
      I wouldn't buy photochromic lenses to replace sunglasses, but they are a great addition to a good eyewear wardrobe as a 3rd option which is kind of a hybrid between clear glasses and sunglasses. Super versatile.

    Robert, can PhotoFusionX work with 1.74 lenses? In the past I was told Zeiss’ photochromic could only do 1.67 max, which is why I’ve always been told to go with Nikon if I needed 1.74 because they work with Transitions.

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  Рік тому +2

      Unfortunately not. However, depending on your Rx and frame choice, you might get an equal result with 1.67 Zeiss as you do with 1.74 Nikon. And if you're really after the thinnest possible, you could get 1.9 glass photochromic...

    Today when trying to order PhotoFusion X, I was told they don't clear 100% indoors even without flash. I thought that was a guarantee in order to even argument about replacing sunglasses. Talk about replacing normal glasses!

      This is why numbers are important. It is true that Photofusion doesn't go 100% clear. The previous generation start from a base tint of 8% and go up to 89%, and this isn't a secret or anything, you can literally find the Zeiss lens catalogue online. The point is that an 8% tint is barely noticeable and I don't think there's anything wrong with using "clear" as a descriptive term for it. The more important point that Rob mentioned in this video was that PFX doesn't actually reach the marketed 89%, which is one reason why they're not ideal as a sunglass replacement. But indoors, to all extents and purposes, they are normal glasses.

      I might do! Zeiss have their equivalent of Xtractive and Sensity Dark which is called Extra Grey. But all 3 are a compromise for people who try to replace their sunglasses with light reactive lenses - a really bad idea.
      Normal photochromic lenses (whether Transitions, Sensity or PhotoFusion) always work best when not trying to work behind the windshield - which is where good sunglasses are absolutely essential.

      @@thespectaclefactory this is where I don't know what j should do as my eyes are light sensitive and in the past I always just had regular glasses and carried my sunglasses. I thought maybe having photochromatic lenses would be a good enough compromise for someone like myself, but maybe having two is a better choice or just save up and get one photochromatic and one regular sunglass. I've never tried photochromatic lenses before so I figured Its no better time than now to try them they seem much better these days!

    I understand, that auther is obsessed with Zeiss, but in reality there's nothing special in PFs. 8 gen Transitions along with Sensity 2 stay the most stable and best working photochromic technology nowdays. The longest durability of pch molecules, best nano-composite matrix and time of reaction. Not to mention that its drive versions, Dark and Xtractive have additional light sources to react and are fully independent from temperature around. People nowadays pay for Zeiss lenses only because of the brand and definitely not the quality. For quality and innovations you go to Hoya, Essilor, Shamir and BBGR.
