To add, the performance was METICULOUSLY planned and executed... people often talk about this era of hip-hop being somehow lesser than the Golden Eras (which were great), but if you know, you know... for me, it was the greatest ever time for rap music.
People watching this today would automatically assume you recorded this on a phone, but this was almost a decade prior to smartphones which makes this video a rare gem to find. Really appreciate this, thanks for uploading!
they feed off each others vibes. This is so hard. Ive never heard two artists that are so into each others music. To think i was looking for Gods bathroom floor LIVE..and i found this gem.
They're both still helping me. An eyedea never dies. Wish I could have met the person behind that mask, but I thank him for his legacy. In my opinion, Eyedea was the most significant mind hip hop lost. I have not been personally affected more by someone I never actually met.
Someone who loved these guys & truly knew how talented they were booked a small afternoon concert in the commons area on the UCLA campus on this fall day in 2001. This is so special! You can totally tell that slug & eyedea were the only true professors on campus that day.
There are other greats and people who deserve the credit of really pioneering hip hop to a certain direction but eyedea and slug and without doubt two of the best things to ever happen in the history of hip hop .
@@seabassgilligan9396 that feeling about eyedea passing away always hits me when I hear his music. Plus; I grew up with rhymesayers music. There won't ever be a moment like this one again; it reminds me of so many amazing small RS shows; sort of a bitter sweet type feeling about it.
Indeed man, hit me really hard way back to. Always will be apart of me. I don’t want to take away from what you said above, so here’s this- And this goes to those Whose love is so strong You can shut your eyes and see them when you listen to they songs.
sounds kinda terrible, but damn, eyedea seriously could have been huge if it wasnt for the opioides. watching interviews of him all strung out is terribly sad, this guy had huge star power.
Damn, this is dope. Wasn’t old enough to see Eyedea. I got to see slug twice at the novo in LA. He preformed Gods bathroom floor. Man I can’t believe I’m seeing it preformed in a 2001 vid.
Great video. Classic era for both these guys. Fortunate enough to have seen Atmosphere and Eyedea but of course missed the tour they did together. Great footage, thanks for posting.
Thank you, brought back memories, you captured the back of my head most of show! I remember going to Costa Mesa for their show during that tour as well as the in store performance at the Basement. Thank you!
I got to see him this year in tulsa. He freestyled for like 20 mins. I was 14 and my mom picked me up before the show was over. I was so bummed. Slug partied so hard back then. He was lit for the gig
Just caught Atmosphere for the second time the other night. This was the first time. Insane that you got this set on video, it's like stepping into a time machine.
Wow, thanks for sharing! Such a great set. For me, God's Bathroom Floor is the gem. Seeing Slug & Eyedea with such youth and passion alone makes it, but that song grabs me. Always has, but they're in particularly good form here. I too have some older (1999 - 2002) footage from them in Santa Cruz and SF, CA, from some graffiti battles that I'd love to share, but just need to transfer the analog footage to digi.
I have been a fan of all THREE of these guys for such a long time. The comments are all talking about the chemistry of the two which is amazing but DJ Abilities on the ones and twos behind Slug and Eyedea !!! I wish I found this video earlier thank you for sharing . This is such a treat . So many people don’t know how good Hip Hop shows were around this time . Very few shows today are as good as this !!! Thank you again.
I love this !! I was in high school my last year when eyedea passed, I remember going late cause my brother and I wanted to listen to eyedea that morning
Man…Eyedea really was a fucking genius.

RIP Eyedea 🫡
He was light years ahead of his time. His mind was on another level.
The way Eyedea and slug had chemistry on stage was crazy. Would be great if they would do this to this day. R.eye.p

Eyedea knew how to get in that rhythm with people

That's a great observation!! Cheers!!
Gold.
They both preform gods bathroom floor jesus christ that's something else.
That was the norm, then we lost Eyedea. Murs has done it as well, I saw Brother Ali and Slug do it live and that was AMAZING!!

i was there OMG thank you , still have my sad clown bad dub 2 signed , i was 14... thank you
Shame on UA-cam for not recommending this to me sooner.

R.I.P. Eyedea. His flow was nuts.
Eyedea and Slug shared a brain I swear
Both of these dudes helped me get through a crazy time in my life. I’m here all the way in 2020 thankful ❤️
