It wasn't fair when actual freestylers were losing to people sneaking writtens in. Eventually people just said fuck it were all going to agree the whole battle is going to be writtens now. But make no mistake, there's a lot of MCs that battle nowadays that still have insane freestyle game and use it for rebuttals or when they forget their shit. Thesaurus from scribble jam still battles. Charron is one of the best in canada imo and basically freestyle'd his whole 3rd round for the KOTD title agaisnt Pat Stay. I miss this freestyle era too tho... I practice freestyles almost every day but it's super difficult to find an actual freestyle battle nowadays.
