R.I.P Micheal "Eyedea" Larsen
Man, I can never get over that lyric..
" I am not doomed, I burn bridges. Not spoons."
9 years after your comment and I relistened to this and that line caught me off guard. I also understand what that line means now lmao. He came out swinging with that line.
@@jacoblamberson2709what does the line mean im tryna figure it out
@@evaroman2816you inject heroin by heating it on a spoon before drawing it in a syringe. to "burn bridges" means to sever connections with someone
@evaroman2816 spoon is a reference to drug use
Still gives me chills like it did when I was a teen. Timeless 🔥
3 of the greatest rhymesayers in one song
Damn fucking straight. But underground goes much deeper, and hides much better artists
@@georgebetz5645 better than eyedea? Im not angry im just disappointed
The 3 greatest u mean
@@georgebetz5645 Aes is pretty much as good as it gets dog... Only other rappers similarly gifted are el-p and illogic imho
@samraiz shoaib Yeah agree about doom he has mad skills although subjectively I‘ve never really been into him that much cause I don‘t dig his beats oftentimes and I‘m hypersensitive about instrumentals, doesn‘t mean I‘d ever sleep on the dude though! I feel like Lupe is the type of rapper that is crazy good with his storytelling something akin to Big L or Nas. Have to admit I never really listened to Canibus, I thought at first you were talking bout Carnage for whatever reason lol
Eyedea's ability to sublimate pain is really something.
He caught rampancy
atmospheres got the best hooks, eyedea and aesop got the best alien level verses
Hooks, alien level verses. . . Please explain.
@@TheMisskimim hooks for fishing, and alien verses as bait for the human fishies ^.^
Never forget that Blaze Battle with Eyedea. Me and my boy watched that shit back to back a million times in awe at that kid. Wow..I didnt even know he had passed. RIP kid. Mad talent, respect.
“This man wants to be my back up dancer.”
I burn bridges not spoons is a perfect line
Reptile Sniffer my favorite
Biscuit Tin aes has a bunch of dope lines centered around burning bridges haha
"Dope lines"
@@alexjoseph4665 Fuck...
RIP Mike
RIP Russ
Finally understand these I'll lines...
Aesop, Atmosphere , and Eyedea & Abilities are the only things keeping me calm right now.. God, I love music.
These 3 are all amazing. R.I.P Eyedea.
An accidental classic. You have to wonder if there's anything else of its caliber on the cutting room floor.
8 years of listening to these 3 and I discover this just today. Incredible.
Usually I'd be too young for this. born in 94. but thanks to my awesome older brother I know all of this dope 90s stuff. shoutout to my bro
+Lobster with Mustard and Rice '94 here, I've been listening to Eyedea since the battling years on Scribble Jam. Check out everyone on the Rhymesayer roster, they're all Gods on the mic, especially since Rhymesayers got their hands on Aesop.
+Obvious Malware hell yeah man! their ain't much artists these days that make stuff that compares to the classic underground hip hop greats. And mainstream is soo shitty like offensive noise i cant stand. good to know some people from younger gens listen to real music.
***** yeah man. it's awesome to have an older sibling who's into the same music as you
I feel you man. I'm only 15😂 I'm a 2000 baby but my old bro loved Rhymesayers and now they're all I listen to.
+Luke Heron thank God your brother saved you from this current generations rappers
rip eyedea, greatest rapper ever, and forever will be
had these 3 rappers on it, couldn't help my self :3
YEA!!!!
Why would he not release this. This song is amazing.
They're all so dope, they don't deserve the radio.
I'm parallel with every line that jesus christ thought
Leavin heaven frozen rolling a 7 on this dice shot....
you gotta love eyedea...his whole verse in this song is the sickest verse i think i've ever heard
Eyedea's beautiful metaphors cannot be touched.
This song wakes up memories. I discovered all of these dudes on this song years ago. I'm so glad I did
One of my favourite songs of all time, amazing work by all 3.
One of the best trios in rap history.
Im so grateful 3 of my favorite emcees growing up all did music together. And theres a lot of it.
Who do you like the most out of the 3?
@@kermitgod7413 I'm sure it's Eyedea. It's always Eyedea. It better be Eyedea
rip eyedea!!!!!
Aesops flow on this track is one of his best
Aesop.made this whole song hands down I love his old and new stuff what a boss
Listening to aesop makes me feel euphoric
all the best rhymesayers on one track. genius!
these are my top favorite MC's
R.EYE.P Mikey. and may Ian and Sean live long and prosper
they all killed it
[Verse 2: Eyedea]
I prick my finger on a thorn bush, picking you a lilac
You can water it with your envy and burn it with your livestock’s
I guess you can come on my trip, why not?
Tie knots in our existence and marry-go-round your holy tripod
For every single flame the imploding sky drops
I cross the burned bridge of syringes ? by lyrics ? cyclops infinitely focused on moving this ice block
I could of land a nice job, but I plan to fight God
Understand I might stop at nothing, short of order distorted by torched porcelain images of man
My glands are quite dormant coordinated with porous
Won't forfeit my stance and transmission if I hit the right knob
Fright clot, numbs the thumb, run and stir the rice pot the anger that hovered kept me in a tight lock im parallel with every line jesus christ thought leaving heaven frozen, rolling a seven on this dice shot.
Seems like they did this just for me or something my top 3 favorite underground rappers collaborating in one song simply dope
3 legends on 1 track= AMAZING!!
3 of the greatest rappers to ever step it. One of my biggest regrets in life will be that I never saw Eyedea play live.
I got lucky to see them once. Smoked a bunch of weed with Abilities and Eyedea's mom out back right before they went on. Dude blew my fuckin mind.
thats the beauty of art. you never die.
I love this medieval loop going in the background
He's not being arrogant he's just giving you useful information.
The beat… the words…the souls of these guys reaching out and touching yours to wake you up. It’s surreal. I’m low key mad af at Eyedea for dying I feel like the world would be different if he didn’t but I guess it’s up to me now.
Doesn't matter the age you were when you found these guys to listen to. Enjoy.
I'm so sad because I've been listening to hip hop for almost a decade ( I know young) but didn't discover Eyedea until about a year ago... R.I.P
He was severly depressed
Yea, a friend reccomend him to me back in high school. Didnt started listening until a year later sfter i dropped out of high school
he caught rampancy
@@mfdoom163
Man I just found out he died in 2010! wtf? I remember hearing him freestyle in early 2000's and thought "damn this dude is for real"...
I am sad now. Another one done to opiates...RIP
He actually died from an overdose of sleeping medication. He struggled with insomnia for most of his life.
Damn thats too bad. Sad to hear
Devin Ellis
You sure? Everything I've read stated it was opiates.
flerper derper Sleeping medication can be an opiate.
Mac STEEZ
Um. No, sleeping meds are benzos or barbs generally. There are exceptions but no sleeping meds are opiates.
Anyone still listening to this in 2020?
this is real hip hop, at the core.
[Verse 3: Slug]
Slow down, float showdown at the show
Minnesota to Manhattan until it gets broken loose
Holding you immobile to show you what we're going through
And ain't nothing changed and the rent's still overdue
Still hate the rappers that speak through the mean mugs
Ain't got no bite but you bark like a tree trunk
That shit doesn't flush
[Aesop Rock] And every pipe is plugged
[Slug] I know you're loving us (you ride the nuts like the dick was a bus)
Now hold tight, your whole energy doesn't flow right
It's enough to make me wonder if you prefer to just blowpipe
We're this close to giving you hoes a good choke
Clowns thinking they're profound man, they're not even a footnote
I walk around the world like a malnourished tourist
A refugee, caught between the referee and the purist
Circuits overloading, cyborgs about to explode
Release the little man inside my tired soul
Somebody must have let the lion out the cage
And got him high before he climbed up on the stage
Cause here I am again, glossy-eyed, topsy-turvy
This is just another pitstop on the journey
Most of ya'll don't even inspire me to diss you
So caught up in the politics, forgot to kick the issues
Slug, call me Se7en, ya'll know what I'm about
Now close your fucking mouth, before my balls fall out
+aric kolhagen sounds eerly similar to something madchild would have written.. much love to both of them, bt this some real hard slug shit.
never even peeped how dope slugs verse was
Always gonna come back 🤷🏾♀️
Thank You! I have been tryin to tell people that for years
Epitome of dopeness.
Thank you slug
And eyedea and Aesop
One of the very very few Aesop songs I had never heard before. As usual, this is fucking SICK.
My personal favorites are The Dive, Lines, Void (Internal Theory), Burn Fetish, and Here For You (That one is labelled under one of his other pen names, Oliver Hart). His most famous songs are Smile and By The Throat and those are both great. Also check out some videos of his freestyle, that's what got him famous.
absolute G E M. Words cant do justice on this piece da illest.
Man I miss him....but he's alive with me every day.
"I am not doomed I burn bridges not spoons! "Kill em ace
Ahhh. I didn't know that. Thanks for clearing that up, man
Slugs entire verse is amazing...
Is it odd that these are my three favorite underground rappers and That This is now my favorite song?
No
Such an epicly sad beat, and the artists are fucking amazing
A lil gem to bring to us back a few, dope
I can't decide if I like this or Bent Life more, because both of them are godlike.
a true legend 🛹😎💯
this is one of two YT comment wars I've ever bothered to investigate, well done. This one was worth it. Silosis is probably still digging just the beats.
Exactly, my point. There are many things one artist can do, that the other can not, which is why when I here "BEST EVER FOREVER" it's simple to identify who the people are, and where they are in their journey.
Rhymesayers have such a good line up of talent! They do not get the credit they deserve
Woa! Never heard this before
If only the world would listen to artists that benefit them, rather than the other way around.
God, this world would be a better place.
yea! thanks bro
crazy dope
Well said and very true
This instrumental is from the track bent life, check it out, its dope
I mis . Eyedea
They all kill it
I can't believe I never noticed that. I love Bent Life
Completely agree.
That's.. the most inspiring thing I've ever read on youtube...
I found all three of these guys years ago playing tony hawk games and have been listening to them since. Anyways in the last couple of years i also got onto artists like brother ali, dilated peoples, evidence, step brothers, grieves, rob sonic, hail mary mallon, uncluded and el-p, so pretty much alot of rhymesayers and def jux artists, So I'm wanting to find more artists like these and am looking for suggestions, i know i should just listen to every artist on def jux and rhymesayers to see who i like but it would take ages so I am looking for specific suggestions if anyone could help?
Cunninlynguists
Collective Efforts
Living Legends
Cyne
Shing 02
Dead Prez

I use to love music that came out with lyrics like this to bad we have bad rappers like lil wayne now. R.I.P Eyedea
eyedea is rappin with angels now
Yup.
As it says in the description, this is an outtake of Labor Days, of which Bent Life was on. He probably made this one first, took it out and did a different track with C Rayz on the same beat.
yes.
oh my god yes i agree two beautiful angels of the lord
Slug always dissing at the end of a dope collaboration
hell yeah baby. bent life is my favorite track on the album, now i got that sick ass bassline with different lyrics? lovin it.
u lucky god. keep your head up.
I have been listening to this song for years and just realized that the middle verse is Eyedea. I'm so embarrassed.
embarrassed by your past actions and even more ashamed by your present thoughts and future endeavors to clear your name.
RIP EYEDEA 🙏🏼🕊
one of the best songs in the world .
This. Is. Fire.
True wisdom.
Chicks with good taste in music represent!
Damn
You’re a next level chick.
I love you.
this music is almost too strong sometimes i can't listen to it everyday, have to be in the mood because its that raw
your gonna end up just fine!
this....whoa, son.
these guys are to gnarly
This song is great.
R.EYE.P.
I was acquainted with this song back in 99. Probably heard it 100 times. That being said, I'm not acting. There are many very intelligent fans in this forum, however, the one I addressed is a child (probably born a year or two before this song was released). He furthered the point, by his responses, which proves my initial post further. Best regards. ; )
R.Eye.P
Hell yea!
holy shit!
"u plan to land a nice job, but i plan to fight god" WOW
Understand that he might not stop at nothing.
