Corey’s screams are actually insane. He damaged his vocal chords in their first two albums and now his vocals aren’t as primal and wild as they are in this song
You two should totally check out "Disasterpiece" by Slipknot, has one hell of a visceral and pained sound to it, I'm sure you two would dig it 110%!

Oh man, Slipknot has been my favorite band since I was 11. The atmosphere of Slipknot has always grabbed me. Pure emotion and talent from every song. I love the lead singer Corey Taylor as a musician and a person. Keep em coming, I'll be sure to watch ha!

Who needs coffee when we have this song? Eyeless is a pure Adrenalin dump in musical form, It taps into the emotions of Anger and pain the way it builds and builds till even the way his voice cracks at the end is perfect to conveying theses emotions. By Far my favorite Slipknot Song thanks for listening I subscribed and enjoy your reactions. I think you would enjoy something from Phil Anselmo's band Down, its got a different, blues sound to it but is no less powerful. I recommend listening to Down's-Nothing in return, Stone the Crow, or Temptations Wings. Thanks.
Kel, you've done so many great first impressions on epic songs but this one I think is your best because you were so open to something that is so polar opposite to what you normally have ever heard. This was your first introduction to more of the aggressive side of metal. And you understood immediately why it is important and why people are attracted to it and even related to it yourself and embraced it immediately as opposed to criticizing it. Thank God for you and your open mind. Love watching you guys and your videos. Rock on!🤘

I’m a HUGE fan of these guys. Listen to every album. Try to go chronologically and watch them develop. I’ll bet my house that you’ll become fans. Their talent and passion puts them in a league of their own. Its hard to get a good 4 piece these days, and there’s 9 of them. Like a small metal Orchestra. I’ve seen them live many times over the years and was sad when they lost Paul. If you dig deep enough you’ll find some acoustic tracks that will send chills up your spine. Slipknot’s singer Corey Taylor has another band named Stone Sour in which he is also the singer. Totally opposite sound and style of bands. Cory does not scream with Stone Sour. I will be seeing Stone Sour for the first time this summer when they open up for Ozzy.
I wouldn't say totally opposite. They aren't as heavy but they have some songs he screams in.
He totally screams in some Stone Sour songs.

I love slipknot so much and this first album shows the raweness and the pissed feelings, anger, frustration they had at this time. No wonder so many young adults and teens could identify themselves so much with their songs/music

Its great to see new fans being made. I remember hearing this when I was about 12, blew my mind.
The Vocal thing doesn't hurt, unless you are doing it wrong. Its sort of a clenched stomach gurgling sound you make at the back of your mouth, the trick is to tighten the vocal chords so they don't slam together and tear. This happens when you actually shout, by openning the vocal chords and is why people lose their voices.
Doing it correctly you should be able to do it all day, no issue at all. Do it wrong and it can end your career real fast.
I actually taught myself to do it listenning to this album, and the next "Iowa", another very angry album, but didn't realize i was doing it correctly until I watched vocal coaches teaching it on youtube, however many years later that was.
Check out the live Disasterpieces show from london in 2001, incredible. But don't watch it on youtube, its bad quality on here, spend a couple bucks and get the show, on dvd or whatever. Its something else.
Okay... this is 9 months late but Corey definitely did it wrong the first two albums. And replicating those screams definitely hurts.
It's still impressive to me that he didn't totally fuck up his voice

Glad that you enjoy this song! It's really heavy and powerful. The first 2 albums by Slipknot are really heavy like this, and Iowa is such a dark album. The darkest times of the band. Arter that they went on to explore other stuff and incorporate other sound to their style of music, and it sounds awesome too. Big fan here, I know haha.
Btw, yes, Corey Taylor (the singer) had problems in his voice back in the day and had to recover, from that point forward he perfected his voice technique to a healty manner were he could sing like this without damaging the chords.
PD: Do the studio first, people are gonna ask for the live but it doesn't feel the same way.
This Album changed things....
"Psychosocial" by Slipknot is a good song to listen to (as others have suggested) The music video for that song is also pretty cool and it shows the whole group, but you don't have to watch it if you don't want to.

Y’all need to check out a dude named Phil Bozeman-he does a live performance of a song called “Unanswered” by the band Suicide Silence, as well as his own group, Whitechapel (“This Is Exile” is a great starting point, imo). You won’t believe a human can produce such sounds.

That is what is awesome about Slipknot. One of the few bands that can start out the way that they did and completely mellow out but still hold the feel of the way they started out. You cannot say that about many bands at all.

This was their first album other than an EP I believe. Much harder but again they we're a lot younger then. Their other albums have some more melodic songs you might prefer lol but shit I remember jamming this in middle school and I'm 31 LMAO 😂😂
