That’s not a good sign. I watched the first 10 mins or whatever it was that was released, and realised the intro contains the best fight scene of the movie. What a waste of such a talented cast. One thing they did right was push Liu Kang to the background, cos the character is boring and the guy playing him has cringeworthy line delivery. If him and Kung Lao had their own movie then that could possibly be interesting provided they keep the story nice and simple and really work on giving them dialogue that doesn’t sound so regal and fantasy-esque. Maybe have them trapped in the Nether-Realm stuck in a giant pagoda, almost like The Raid, Game of Death, or Dredd. They repair their fractured relationship by kicking the crap out of baddies, and saving each other a few times. You need good dialogue to elevate things though, and fight scenes that feel in the same vein as the games. They’re supposed to be the best from each realm, right?

Lol, I was going through the replies just to get to this one. Being a long time Mortal kombat fan, sometimes in the "FINISH HIM" part of the game, the winner would perform a "friendship" move. So it's safe to say that kano did a "friendship" move with Sonya a n Cole by spitting on the Gnome. Also, when Sonya gained her power, (if I'm correct) she replied: "a parting gift from Kano". Hence....."Frienship". I've should've shouted that out in the theater lol.

The rare moment were Hollywood changes a bad guy into a good guy in the beginning is the smartest move I've ever seen. We all know Kano is the leader of the Black Dragons and Sonya and Jax have been tracking down but this is way more refreshing and cooler for Kano. You feel for the guy when the turns bad. Like you'd like to hang out with him in a bar sometime.
There was definitely opportunity for a redeeming moment, but the movie was too busy being F-ing short.... But most movies are stupidly short these days. I don't see the point? This shortness f-up all the great movies in recent years, what a waste. You can't tell me there was not enough material to make a Lord of the rings style trilogy out of this and they crammed it all into 1 hour and 90 minutes.... what a waste.

I would watch the sequel if he returns, which I feel is possible. Even if Shang Tsung didn’t retrieve him, I could see Black Dragon reviving their boss, giving him his cyber eye. Which Kano immediately upgrades to shooting a laser, because he was really fond of that.
If there is anything I'm happy about the new MK movie: it's the actor portraying Kano is PERFECT. That and the actor playing Sub-Zero has the PERFECT voice for Noob Saibot.
I loved this movie but kano is the best part. I think they did a good job with the movie and I can't wait for second one just hope kano comes back with more stuff like this.
The funniest line is when he destroys raidens staff that is powering the shield and says something aropund the lines of ''Here's the problem with these new thunder sticks, they don't make em like they used to''.
