Hi, not sure if you still have the device but I had this problem because my DVR didn't come with any hard drive. I believed it was inbuilt but turns out no. I had to buy it externally but when I installed it worked.

@@MFkinJoey Open up the DVR and see if a hard drive was built in. Most likely the camera system didn't come with a hard drive and it requires you to buy one externally. Once installed it should work

I wouldn't have installed this crap if I knew it only records with movement. Definitely a worse system than the one I had before and my previous one was crappy.

You set whether it records all the time or only when there's motion. This person must have chosen the motion option.
