@@rightlanehog3151 I would not touch the 2025...... The reason you buy a 4Runner is for reliability. I do not see that in the new power train.. More complicated for no reason.. It has not proven itself yet, especially when I see the 2022 Tundra platform have so many issues ..... Now in 5 years, we will talk again,.
I would love for somebody to put the 4.0L in the 25 to prove my point that all it needed was a transmission upgrade. But 5th gen will always be king.

I happen to know someone with the latest tacoma with the 4 cyl turbo and a tacoma from the last year of the 6cyl engine. The turbo toacoma gets a whopping 1mpg increase over the 6 cyl. The moment you tow something that advantage disappears. Big time. When towing the tacoma with turbo gets 6 mpg less than the 6 cyl Why would it be any different in the new 2025 4 runner. The 4runners use the same engines as the tacomas. Sorry but this is a big fail from Toyota.

They will be selling 2024 TRD Pro 4Runners at Barrett Jackson in 10 years...the same time people with 2025 TRD Pros will be replacing turbos and batteries for $20k+

So far it’s a big pass on the one. Even the easy stuff to get right Toyota got wrong, gloss piano black trim all over a TRD pro???
I have a 2022 4Runner TRD Pro love it... But I'll tell you what, Jeff. Been driving the new 2024 Tacoma now for a month now. Really nice, great mileage 20.7 currently after about 1100 miles. Got back in my 4Runner and drove down the street. Thought something was wrong. Didn't feel right. Then I realized, it wasn't the 4Runner, it was how much better the new Tacoma setup was. Can't wait to trade my 4Runner in for new model next year.
That is very helpful! Have you used a Pedal Commander with the 2022 4Runner? I have been using it the last year and it turned the 4Runner into an actually pretty quick now. Hope that helps!

Glad I got my 2021 4runner TRD Off Road, I wouldn't trade it for the 2025.
So the last one had proper hood struts and the new one has a prop rod from a 1993 Tercel. Very nice. Take my money!!!

My biggest question/concern is do I have to use the electric motor all the time or do I have the ability to shut it off? I personally would like to never use so that when I am camping I always have a fresh battery. Thank you for the great video!

My 2020 TRD ORP Venture"d" out from Factory options that I chose (yes I ordered it when you could).......just went up in value.
Tossing on more badging and "bling" does not improve anything.
Yes, there are some things on the '25 that I would like, however having a PRO logo on my headlight bezel.....and a big screen TV stuck on the dash, would not be either of them amongst many others....

To my choice I'm going to pick 2024 4Runner. For sure the 2025 4Runner would be more EPA friendly and have lot of new tech, but that's not my choice.
Depends on many things but pricing is a huge one. The jump on Tacoma was astronomical and IMO unjustified. 60k tops
The interior on my 2024 is so classy and beautiful. The 25 looks so bad and plastic. 24 is better in every way and has a much better motor.
As a long time Toyota fan, these last couple of years have been disappointing with the new releases. Higher prices and unproven (more likely less reliable engines) have made me want to look toward another brand. Just sad. 😢
Toyota is crazy for taking away the engine cover and hood struts. Aside from that, i do love the look of the new one as it still looks rugged
Compare these vehicles in two years. I'm willing to bet that the 2024 four runner will be running just fine, the 2025 will have several issues with the four cylinder turbo.

But you don’t know how reliable the 25 will be in the long run. It may have issues at the start but if it stays on the market for 10 years or more it might eventually just be as reliable. I doubt the current gen was bulletproof from the get go

I like both, but the interior where you spend most of your time in the 24 needed to be redone. I wouldn’t spend the money on a TRD pro, but rather an off road…so in choosing I would pick the new model
They took a a spartan teuck and turned into an I pad holder. That antiquated 6 cyl and 5 speed was described by the car care nut as super reliable but more importantly over built, hence the reliability. Don't care for the interior. The EPA has manufactures jumping thru flaming hoops to meet emission requirements. Buy a used or left over 24 and put the savings into a magnason super charger,lol!
I had a 2021 Limited 4Runner and it was a great vehicle. However, the gas mileage was really poor and I drive too much. The 5 speed transmission was dated. Time for an update. Can I afford a 2025 model who knows?
I like the new upgrades except I don't like the turbo I would prefer a v6 engine with hybrid battery I will pass on the 2025
Got a 24 trd off road premium about 2 months ago, wish i had money to buy another one just to have!! So hard to find anything quality anymore, its a total shame we aren't going to be able to get simplicity & proven quality anymore!!
The two classical hallmarks of Toyota...they are definitely turning their backs on current Toyota fans...we'll see how that fares for them.
I like the overtrail color and style but I don't need the hybrid. Wish I can get a 3 row overtrail style variant.
Giving Toyota is recalling 2022 & 2023 Tundra, I wait another 2 years for Toyota to work out the bugs on the new 4runner.

Reliability always win… at least for me 😉
First year of a radical redesign is risky. Even proven vehicles ( reliability) have quirks at inception. Usully 2-3 modal years before they work out rhe kinks. At least if u have a 5th gen u can watch from a safe distance. Simplicity / reliability rules.

I honestly look at the 6th gen and it looks all purty and the new tech is appreciated and needed...but I think Toyota forgot what owners do with them and where they take them. They also need just two trims: 4Runner Street Edition and 4Runner Off Road Edition. Off Road uses old school, has all the hardware required for off roading....classic engine and tech...whereas Street Edition concentrates more on the tech and convenience features and a good driving experience using whatever snake mess is in the 25. I know I just described "Limited" and "Pro" essentially but in reality that's what people decide on.
The new 4Runner is a hard pass until more iterations of this design evolves and cleans up the mess I see. Reliability is still a question mark.
I like the 25 however with the drop in Toyota quality and issues with their latest generation of vehicles I wouldn’t buy a new one for several years.
My question is being in Idaho where they use salt in winter, will the 25 rust like the 24?
Nah the new one just uses plastic lol.
If it’s made with metal, it will rust.
The real question that needs to be answered is? Where is the new 4runner going to be built? If it's in Japan then no question the 25' will be great. Tahara built vehicles are all about durability and quality. Yes, the Tacoma has the same 4cyl engine, but that truck gets built in Mexico and are not that great when it comes to details in manufacturing.
Wow, looking at the 25 I’m so glad I got the 24, last year of the classic. The 25 looks like a Chevy Tahoe or something I really don’t like it.

I’m new to 4Runner, as an outsider looking in I’ll definitely get the 2025 6th gen. Been saving for it and I trust Toyota knows what they’re doing with the new engine. I’ll get the TRD pro

Hate the "Mudbath" color. Should have designed the 2025 4Runner with a more fuel-efficient V6, NOT a 4-cyliner turbo engine. Just my humble opinion. But I DO love that they upgraded the 2025 version with more of the safety features.

The new one looks like a Dodge Durango had a baby with a Rav4, not really a fan. Thanks Kevin Hunters design team. All the new turbo engines are a hell no from me.

Ill take the new '25 better tech and more power...finally soemthing new and fresh. Nothing against the '24 model great vehicle but it was time for a upgrade. Besides I dont think Toyota would risk making a bad vehicle the new one will be great and reliable I just know it! 😄🤙

Top side of that engine looks like a bad science project. I’ve been thinking about getting a new 4Runner for about a year now but with the current engine options they fixed that. I no longer want one.

5th gen hands down!! They have it perfected, u will see soon, absolutely no need to be putting an 8 speed transmission with a 4 cylinder motor, that poor thing driving thru town is not gonna know what the hell to do, kind of like our current president!!! Huge, huge, huge mistake!!
