Your reviews and videos are ALWAYS highly informative , well laid out & presented that said as an FYI the battery pack is under the floor in the cargo area 👍🏼
Great video Shari! Thank you for honest reviews and always covering all aspects of a vehicle. You hit the nail, any new generation of vehicles will not be as trouble free as older generation. The new ones are more complex just to save a drop of gasoline. Absolute ridiculous, this is pushed by this government who are clueless.
Thank you! If it were my call, I would have done everything I could to keep that V6 as an option. It would have been interesting to see which one more buyers would pick.
I would drive old school for sure as long as I can, and then go directly to full EV, hoping technology will evolve and produce more electric range in less money than today.
I like the present one better. Many reasons but one for me is I like the way the president models rear seat folds down. It gives it a more longer later floor. The 2025 has that file up seat that doesn't give you as long of a cargo floor. I don't know if you could sleep in the new one.
Great job on the review; I own 2024 TRD ORP with KDSS (my personal upgrade from a 3rd Gen with 275k). Note: Depending on how it’s doing I may consider a 2028 based on a known track record. Even the Taco now has some teething issues. Time will tell. All I know its only basic maintenance for me 3 years from now. The hybrid battery is a huge issue for me unless Toyota extends the hybrid battery warranty to 180k miles. Traditional 4Runner owners’ are in it for the long haul. The hybrid battery is a huge bill down the road. Under the current warranty plans from Toyota I’ll be tracking the non hybrid to see if it’s worth it.
Thank you! I wouldn't be too worried about the hybrid battery life. Toyota's warranty is already 10 years 150,000 miles, and they often last far longer than that. Luckily Toyota went with their well proven and low cost NiMH battery for the 4Runner which I was happy to see.
I just bought me a couple of hours ago a new white 24 TRD ORP. This TRD comes nicely equipped with KDSS, mtm monitor, moonroof, trail running boards, black-out lettering, high performance led fog lights, and, and, and... Sticker was $52, 213.00, dealer gave a $3,546.00 discount, and I was able to get another $1.5k off on top, so I ended up paying $47,167.00, plus tax and title fees. I'm feeling good about this deal, but I also know that I'm getting buyers remorse sometime tomorrow.... :) I'm flying out of Raleigh, NC to Pittsburgh, PA on Wednesday to pick my new 4Runner up. Looking forward to my ten hour drive back home from PA to NC! :)
I've had two toyota 4 runners, a 1998 that I put almost 400,000 miles on it before I had to give it up.... I cried. I am now in a 2012 runner (limited) and I can't wait for the new one. dana t.
I can relate dana t. I have a 98 sr5 with 273,000 miles and it still runs like a champ. It amazes me how that vehicle has got me out of some pretty hairy situations off road. I just purchased a 24 OR, very happy with it but I still kept my 98 and I am not going to part with it. Believe it or not, if I was to go take one of the vehicles off road right now … it would be the 98 sr5. I am so confident in its ability to get me to and back.
I currently drive a 2007 4runner sport V8. It is very old school, upgraded it with 3 inch toytec suspension. It just runs great, and really works for offroad. The only work done was to replace timing chain. If I were to purchase a new 4runner it would be 2024 v6.
Just bought a new '24 SR5 4x4. Wanted it as simple as possible with as little chance of things to break. I enjoy the little nuances and reliability that an old platform provides. I live down a long caliche/rock road and have already taken it stock on a couple of easy trails to camp in Texas. Very happy with my choice. I hope to drive it for 20+ years and get 300k plus. When I heard the '25s were changing to a new turbo 4cyl, that clinched the deal. I had a 1st gen ford ecoboost and just gave the vehicle away at 220k miles as it needed a 2nd engine replacement!
A few people r complaining about turbo. Dude, the turbo has come a long way. It's also not the first time Toyota using turbo. NX200t turbo engine introduced in 2015 is still running like a champ in 2025.
I prefer the 5th Gen and just purchased the 2024 TRD Off Road this week. I have owned several over the years and will see how the 6th Gen holds up over the next few years. They are all good!
Personally, I think that the 4Runner will always be an excellent vehicle with the best durability and I don't think it will be for the city, rather for country areas, but I don't see changes that are substantial, Toyota only makes small modifications and that's what they call new They half change the grills, the instrument panel, a suspension that is actually not new, the previous Tacoma already had the same one and that's it, and with that they make a great campaign for their vehicles.
I don’t understand people, before the 6th Gen show up everyone was complaining about 5th Gen feul economy and low power (power of 4 cylinder and feul economy of v8), now toyota hear your voice , better feul economy for sure and much more power 😀 still complaining
It is weird that the 2024 4Runner looks more old school than a lot of vehicles from 2018, it looks like an SUV from 2010-2015 or something, and a lot of other stuff even feels farther back, like something from the 80s or 90s....but it's still a great purchase.
I have a FE Landcruiser on the way, but have decided to go 2024 TRD Pro Runner. Sold my 2023 in anticipation of the LC...but made the decision today to buy the Runner (same color, same options...but last year)

It's a no brainer! Of course the OLD school which is powered by the bullet proof 4.0lt V6 engine! It will last you FOREVER! The 2025 on the other hand comes with a V4 turbo engine + the hybrid technology. It is overly complicated and it will cost you a fortune to get it fixed if it breaks down or you get involved in an accident. Since 2025 is also a heavier vehicle, the insurance will cost you more $$$ as well.
When the new 2025 model comes out, my current 4Runner will be 20 years old, maybe will hit 200k miles. The only major and most costly repair was a radiator replacement, less than $700. What's interesting is, my 2004 4Runner is noticeably quieter than my 2016 Highlander, even with the 4Runner having no name tires, and the Highlander with Bridgestone Duelers. Since a lot of peeps are preferring the old, on mine, I like the circular, rocker style controls for temperature, speed, and vent settings, instead of dials. Need to drop the temp 5 degrees, just press the down rocker button 5 times, still operable with winter gloves on. Of course, I only have an amber LCD screen. But I will enjoy the fact that the 4Runner will finally have decent gas mileage.
I prefer the OLD. I just got 2024 4Runner LTD 4X4 with $55k. It's absolutely a tank. It is my dream ride I had saved money for 3 years

Hard to find any 4 Runners on the east coast!!
Bought a 2024 for the v6. I have a 3rd gen, 1996 with the famous 3.4. Both will be fun
I have the 2023 40th Anniversary 4Runner, and love it. I think I'll stick with it. It's a beauty and I've fully adapted to the power it has. Great all-around vehicle.
Would go Land Cruiser!
Let’s see if the 2025’s stack up on the lot plus I’m guessing a 8-10% bump in price
I would drive old school for sure as long as I can, and then go directly to full EV, hoping technology will evolve and produce more electric range in less money than today.
Bought a TRD Off Road last month because I wanted the last of the old school technology.
Please put me down as "old school. "
Just bought a 2024, an upgrade from my 1996 4Runner with 245,000 miles. My daughter is driving it now
I just bought me a couple of hours ago a new white 24 TRD ORP. :)
Please share where and who gave you this good deal? I need a '24 and everyone is way over msrp here in VA. I'l go to N.C, no problem.
I am strongly considering purchasing a 2024 4 runner limited.
I will keep my 2023 because I like simplicity. I dont want to have to deal with turbo problems on the 2025 models
I'll keep Driving my 2022 TRD Pro Lime Rush till it's at least 10 years old then we will see ?
Reliably is King !
❤ that color scheme. 👍

Crabgrass green 😜
Well, if you still want to be able to put that kind of "extreme" milage on one. Better not buy the new 2025 model. That's FOR SURE.
I currently drive a 2007 4runner sport V8. It is very old school, upgraded it with 3 inch toytec suspension. It just runs great, and really works for offroad. The only work done was to replace timing chain. If I were to purchase a new 4runner it would be 2024 v6.
The V8 has an interfering timing belt, not chain like the V6 (fyi). I know, i have one.
5th Gen for life
With a 4 cyl / turbo? 😂
A few people r complaining about turbo. Dude, the turbo has come a long way. It's also not the first time Toyota using turbo. NX200t turbo engine introduced in 2015 is still running like a champ in 2025.
@@bunmeng007 Nah, not as long as you think. Dont down play it 😂
5th Gen 100%, already have two in my driveway next to my Tacoma.
I will take the 2024 and you helped me make up my mind. Thanks!
I prefer the 5th Gen and just purchased the 2024 TRD Off Road this week. I have owned several over the years and will see how the 6th Gen holds up over the next few years. They are all good!
I LIKE THE OLD ONE MORE DUE TO THE GOOD OLD FASHIONED 6 CYLINDER NON TURBO ENGINE INSIDE OF IT.😊
I’m trading my 2021 rav 4 in for 2024 4 runner next week. I like the reliability of they v6
Driving my 5th gen for 200k more miles then ill see how these new ones are holding up
Is that chrome I’m looking at around the window of the mud bath trd ?@14:14
My brother has a 98' 4runner.
I can’t wait for the new model. It’ll be my fifth forerunner. Each generation I’ve had has been great.
Some people whine about the fuel economy of the 4runner. If you can afford a 4runner gas price is not a problem
The power train changes is not to satisfy the buyers but the government fuel regulation (cafe)
because of the fuel efficiency does it have a huge impact surly it has to right?
Ill keep my 5th Gen 2023 Trd Pro. Forever..
It is weird that the 2024 4Runner looks more old school than a lot of vehicles from 2018, it looks like an SUV from 2010-2015 or something, and a lot of other stuff even feels farther back, like something from the 80s or 90s....but it's still a great purchase.
This is what I like about it and many people as well. The simplicity and reliability.
I am old. I like the old school 4 runner.
Someone knows witch one is more spacious to carry souffre in the back 4runner 2025 or landcruiser 2024
I have a FE Landcruiser on the way, but have decided to go 2024 TRD Pro Runner. Sold my 2023 in anticipation of the LC...but made the decision today to buy the Runner (same color, same options...but last year)
I have a 2014, so I’m not due for a replacement for 8-10 years at least.
I like the design of the new 4Runner. Don’t really need all the tech option but either I’ll probably buy it because it looks good to me.
Does anyone know if the new 4Runner with the turbo4 require premium fuel ?
The Lexus RX switched to a turbo4 & it takes premium fuel which costs about $1 per gallon more than regular
I have a 2015 and ready for the 2025.
I had a 2015 4Runner and everything he calls out as negative with the drive quality is what I liked about it and miss it today.
The new 4Runner is an awesome truck thats sexy AF, but i love how old school the 5th gen is. With that roaring 4.0 v6, awesome old school trucky driving dynamics, & manual transfer case in the trd off road & pro! The old school body on frame vibes r what make the 4Runner so awesome! If u want more refinement out of a vehicle, then u probably wouldn’t be looking at a 4Runner in the 1st place
I love true and tried..2024 checks all the boxes
My 2014 never see a mechanic for anything other than oil change
Waiting till 2026 to see if the 2025 have anything wrong with it before I make my decision.
To bad Toyota don’t have manual transmission option for the new 4Runner
How weird is it that IN THE YEAR 2024 we are calling a 2024 vehicle "old school", lol 😆
I have waited 4 years for the redesign 4Runner for my first new car I am glad i waited I absolutely love the new 4Runner I was going to get the 2024 Tacoma if they didn’t redesign the 4Runner
I was really debating on waiting for the 2025 4 runner. My dad talked me into getting the 2024. We bought ours in feb. Beautiful vehicle . But i kinda regret not waiting tbh haha. Oh well. 🤷🏻♀️ I still love my 4Runner
I lucked out and secured a 24 pro in Terra, trading my 22 Tacoma OR premium in blue crush, love my Taco but needs more room for travel! I’ll have that beautiful pumpkin in my carport soon.YAH🎉
There are quite a few new items on the 6th gen I wish were available on my 5th gen.
4 days with 2024 TRD off-road it’s a dream
