“life is too short to drive a base model” earned a sub 😂
Love it! Thanks for the sub!
Subbed after hearing that one too lol
Over engineering cars is overrated
I felt attacked when he said that 😂
This is the best 4Runner video I've came across. This is the breakdown I needed.
Thank you for your support!
Agreed! I just ordered one!
Just bought a 2024 TRD OFF Road Premium Silver Metallic, with 7 Miles & With Off Road Tires and The ride height is taller! Love It !! This is a family Keeper for a long time maybe next year I’ll buy another 2 more 2024 of the same Models & Trim, just To have orange & Blue. I wish the FJ was back for One Last Go of Its V6. Great Video 👌🏼 ( Family & I agree more with Reliability other Then Status Looks, We feel Better in a reliable Car then a luxury one that will depreciate The Next hour 30k less) Living a simple life Runs longer In a positive for your Health then & over Materialistic, Let me show off my benz,BMW, Audi etc. Just my thinking, People gotta mature to realize this Truth, Not many will tho. 🧠
Congrats on the new ride!
Congrats you and I got the last of the V6
What is new ….. absolutely nothing . The end . I have a 5th gen. The Best !
You got it! Thanks for the comment!
😂
Why change a great thing? I notice our color- lunar rock, is not available on TRDORP.
@@Mark-yy2pybecause they discontinued that color for the 4runner this year afaik. Terra is the new TRD color. They typically change this yearly.
@@kzookid545 makes sense! I saw I believe was a 2021-2022 4 runner in a beautiful bluish gray color. Wished they still had that!
I have a 2019 PRO, in Voodoo blue. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned hands down. I love the old school cool this truck has. For me this checks all the boxes.
Congrats to you on having one of the coolest looking 4Runners!
Finally!
A comprehensive, useful, concise explanation of the differences.
Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you!
This video was really well done.
Thank you so much!
Lunar Rock is my favorite color! This is the best overview video I've ever seen! Can't afford a 4Runner at the moment, but it's ok to dream and watch videos about it!
Never hurts to dream, thank you!
Great video breakdown!!
Thank you!!
Fantastic job
Thank you! And cool Jeep in your profile pic
Thorough, very thorough. Cut and dry.. I likeeee
Thank you!
Very comprehensive video. Thanks.
Thank you!!
Very informative.
Thank you!
Very very informative! Great Chanel 👍🏻
Thank you so much, very cute dog in your pic!
Nice video. One of the best online for sure. Appreciate it
Thank you!!
Well done video… all the information I needed 👏🏼👏
Thank you!!
Well done, thank you
Thank you!
Tremendously awesome video.
Thank you!!
Great video, thank you. For me and soon its the TRD Off Road Premium.
Excellent choice, thank you!
Well done! Better than any breakdown I've seen. All on the table for me to choose which trim model meets me and my family needs. For me, I don't off road at all, I just want reliability, comfort with all the bells and whistles. so it will be the Limited if price point is not an issue. But for the best value, I'll go with the SR5 Premium and adding on Running Boards, Power Moon roof and that sliding cargo rear deck. Ice Cap with Sand Beige Interior.
Thank you! Great color combo choice
I’m so glad they kept the 4.0 good on them
Definitely a proven engine, we’ll see what happens if they do a full re-design
Execellent review. Personally, i want the TRD ORP in Army Green
That’s a sweet ride. Thanks for the comment!
Thank you for this video!! I haven't been familiar with Toyota products for some years now due to my work choice, I typically drive a full size truck. An opportunity came about 3 weeks ago to possibly purchase a 2024 4 runner at a reasonable price, but had no clue which model had what, thanks to this video I was able to figure out which model would suit me best & will be picking up a new 2024 TRD off road premium Barcelona red on Monday. Once again, thank you very much!!
So glad to help! Congrats on your new ride!
Getting my Pro in April!
Right on! Congrats!
Good video, we're looking into getting one. Do the SR5's include the Rear Locker? or is Rear Locker only included on TRD models?
TRD Offroad, Offroad Premium, and TRD Pro are the only models with the rear locker. Thanks!
I got a 2020 venture model. Back then I purchased for 43500. Very happy with the purchase.
That’s a cool trim, too bad they discontinued. Thanks for the comment!
Voodoo Blue and Solar Octane are my two favorite colors.
Agreed. The brighter the better in my book. Thanks for sharing!
I still have my 2002 SR5 will hit 300,000 miles. Best vehicle I have ever owned.
That’s incredible!
Just keep up with the maintenance and you’ll reach over 400,000 miles just like me on my 2002 SR5🤙
I can echo the others on how this is a great video. One note- The text for the features on the SR5 Premium, is the text for the SR5, so the features don't match what you are saying verbally. The TRD Off Road Premium, has heated seats too. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for the feedback!
Yes life is too short to like the base model! I am going for the TRD Pro for sure
There ya go!!
Probably the only taco to be in the shop for suspension issues 😂
Any suggestions where I can get a fair deal on a Limited? Here in Houston dealership are still charging 5k over MSRP.
My best advice is to join a 4Runner forum/facebook group and ask where to buy. There’s usually a lot of knowledge and experience there
Awesome video. QUESTION: can you add 3rd row seating with TRD PRO?
Unfortunately, no. Third row is not offered on TRD Offroad, Offroad Premium, or TRD Pro. I guess they have to make room for the extra off-road goods. Thanks!
@@toptrims thank you
Well done review. Been in a 1997 Limited 4x4 in white since 2000. It has been an awesome vehicle. About time to start trade'n cars (🤮). With the way / number of the different levels are, ya need a spread sheet and /or a flow chart to keep it all straight. I hate it but it's time to man up to a TRD Pro! Prices are are just stupid.
There should be some deals to be had on them, as sales are slowing with the expectation of an all new 4Runner coming soon. Best of luck!
I recently traded my 2016 SR5 Premium for a 2023 TRD ORP / Classic Silver, Black Badges, Yakima Load Warrior Basket, Off Road Premium Plus Package, KDSS, Pro Wheel Matte Black, Tube Steps and other options. Very well pleased with the ride and handling. $54,721 MSRP Dealer discount $3,000.00 Thank you for this overview. Well done!
Sounds like a nice upgrade and a good deal! Thanks for your comment
TRD ORP over a PRO all day. Spend the money on some Camburg arms and 2.5 Kings. You’re still money ahead, have better suspension, and can do a BMC with some 285/295’s. I’m not a fan of the big roof rack on the PRO either.
Great point!
2024 4Runner...
TRD Off Road Premium vs. TRD Pro...
New Year's Eve 2023 went to dealership
to check how Flat The Cargo Area Is w/o
the Sliding Rear Cargo Tray... It's NOT Flat... Not Flat At All! Well, That's That!
Originally, looking for TRD OFP w/ Premium Package, Moonroof, Sliding
Rear Cargo Tray AND KDSS in Underground approx. US$50,000... They
Had One...But NO MOONROOF... SOL!
then an Ice Cap TRD Pro caught my eye... Checked It Out... Not Bad, Not Bad at All... Its Now or Never, Last Of The
Mohicans 5th Generation... Don't TRUST THE RELIABILITY of the forthcoming 2025 6th Gen... it's the Luddite In Me...!
DECIDED TO BUY IT...! A Genuine TRD Pro not the TRD ORP Faux...!
It is the Sales Tax and Vehicle Registration that Puts You Over the Top! Wish California Had Zero/0% Percent Sales Tax like Oregon... The Asking for the TRD Pro was a base msrp $54,920 + 2,569 dealer/port prep install, delivery... And a 5,000 Dealer GOUGE MarkUp!
The Negotiation:
Immediate 1,995 discount Without
Asking...? then I said I'd "thinkabout it..."
Went Home, measured height of my garage... Hah! Salesman called next
morning... went to dealership, measured
height of TRD Pro WITH That Useless
Roof Basket... It Cleared... Barely. Then
I literally took a " 'Round the Block" test drive and I said... "Cut 1,500 more off the MarkUp or Counter Offer and You've Got a Deal...!" They accepted my Offer...
No Counter Offer!
So I paid MSRP 54,920, + 1,574 install, prep & delivery + 2,500 MarkUp, down from 5,000 pure cash gouge Dealer MarkUp...! 5,921.31 was CA Sales Tax and DMV Registration... I paid All Cash,
No Financing. I think that because it was 31 December 2023, New Year's Eve, they were trying to make they're End of Year Toyota Allocation Cut... I Hope They Did... Another SR5 also sold that day...
Anyway that's my Story 'an I'm
Sticking to It.
Happy New Year!
Happy Trails...!
Gung Fu Cowboy
San Francisco Chinatown
What a story! Congrats on a sweet new ride
@michaelr.l.militia8921 Good info to know, thanks for sharing. I think I'm glad I'm not in CA. I'm with ya on the new power plant / drive train.
Underground🙌
Very cool color, photos don’t do it justice
man oh man......I want one. the SR5 Prem or the TRD Off Road. killin me!
Get one before they’re gone!
@@toptrims how many Km per tank does it get? I'd be doing more highway driving so I'm now looking at the Limited. any extra information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
About 430 miles or about 700 km per tank on the highway
My dream car
Dreams can come true 😊
I test drove the Pro, but the TRD ORP was the best ride. IMO it WAS the top 4Runner.
That’s great insight, thank you for sharing!
You really think so? I’m looking into the TRD pro or the ORP but I’m so indecisive
Miss the color CEMENT
Excellent Video 👍👍
Great color, thank you!
I have the 2023 Solar Octane. I got rid of my 23 Yukon Denali for it, because the color just grabbed me, and the stance grabbed my eye. Just had to have it.
They look awesome, thanks for sharing!
Limited for all non off-roaders 🎉
Love it!
If trd pro is the most off road capable or most off road built, how come it isn’t all time 4wd? Isn’t all time 4wd best for off road than 2 rear drive?
All models are available with part time 4wd, except the limited which is full time. That’s a great question as the full time 4wd system could arguably be better. The only biggest benefit for part time 4wd is the ability for the driver to choose which mode is best for current conditions, while the full time 4wd system keeps the driver more out of the equation
I have a 2000 Toyota 4Runner and the ride on rough dirt roads is terrible compared to Subaru Outback or Chevy Tahoe. Has the ride improved on the 2024 4Runner and which trim has the least punishing ride on rough dirt roads?
Hard to say for sure, but most newer cars should have a better ride in comparison
Based on other comments here, it sounds like TRD Off-Road is the best bet for ride on rough roads
Please please please make one of these as soon as all the 2025 4runner specs come out lol THANKS!!!
It is certainly on the list, thank you!!
I recently bought the 2024 Pro in the Terra color. It was hard to come by so I made no fuss about the mark-up. Its unique in that the tone changes with lighting, from a warm burgundy to a bright copper. It's amazing. Like was said... you get it because it's something special and what it can do. I had a 2020 Blazer before. I loved the tech. GM does a great job in this department however, I couldn't see myself keeping this car long-term regardless of the comfort, which meant comfort and the upgraded tech wasn't that important. Reliability is. In my opinion, If you don't own a 5th generation 4 Runner, might be missing out on what could be the last greatest Toyota of all time.
Very well said, a very special vehicle and truly the last of its kind in the current generation. I’m sure the next one will be great in its own right, but without the charm and simplicity. Thanks for the comment and congrats on an awesome ride!
I’m scared for what they’ll do to the gen 6 models. I’m afraid they’re going to ruin them and put some 4 cylinder hybrid mechanical nightmare in it. 😬
Based on the new Tundra and Tacoma I think you are spot on. I guess we will see…
I want a new one, but I want it in voodoo blue as well
I just ordered and bought a new 2024 Toyota 4Runner limited with every single option available sliding rear cargo deck camera, 4 x 4 ice white it’s my second forerunner and I’ll never trade it in. I have to warn everybody 2024 is the last year of the V6 engine. They put a four-cylinder turbo but a four-cylinder out of it which of course make it wear out quicker cause you’ll run the guts out of it and who knows what you’re gonna find, what you want you better get it now my friends
Congrats on the new ride!
White Pro all the way. Mods: GOBI ladder, lift, tint, Pedal Commander, and a plug and play for music videos etc. It would be nice if they offered dual climate control on cheaper trim packages. I do prefer the upgraded interior on the Pro too.
That sounds like a sweet ride!
Doesn’t lifting your 4Runner cause major problems with the front axle down the road?
I really wish you could get heated seats and steering wheel in the TRD Sport.
That would be nice!
2016 Quicksand and 2021 Lunar Rock.
Very cool colors. Thanks for the comment!
So non of them come with heated seats?
SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Offroad do not but all other trims do
What is the difference between part-time and full time 4wd?
Part time 4wd has to be controlled by the driver, meaning you’ll be in 2wd until you switch the vehicle into 4wd. Full time 4wd works automatically to engage when it’s needed
@@toptrims so full time 4wd is same as AWD ?
Also, what's the difference between all-wheel drive (AWD) and 4-wheel drive?
The difference lies in the operation of the system. Generally speaking, 4wd will have a transfer case while AWD utilizes a center differential. The differential allows greater variance of power sent to each wheel. Full time 4wd is still a more “traditional” 4x4 system that will engage or disengage automatically (think on/off) while AWD will constantly change
AWD generally has a center differential and will alter the power sent to each axle while 4wd utilizes a transfer case and is either on or off or will automatically switch between 2wd and 4wd in the case of full time 4wd. AWD is generally better for on road grip and more slippery situations but not as good as traditional 4x4 in tougher off road situations
I’m just looking to drive mostly around town and on Hwy. But I want basically all the bells and whistles. Mainly heated and ventilation seats, moon roof, heated steering wheel and automatic running boards and Leather seats. I have been looking at all the models. But the more videos I watch the more I get confused. I like the beefy look and style of the SR5 premium/ the trd premium. But I think the limited has most of the features I’m looking for. What do you recommend please? Btw great video! I look forward to your opinions.
Limited will definitely have the most features you are looking for, but you’d more than likely have to go with aftermarket parts to get a more aggressive look. TRD Offroad Premium will be most well equipped with the looks you like short of the TRD Pro. It sounds like the Limited would give you the best experience for what you are looking for, and you could always add some more offroad type wheels/tires/accessories down the road.
@@toptrims great! Thank you very much!!
❤
Voodoo Blue
Best color!
Have 2023 ORP in Lime Rush, already tweaked out and above the Pro model. Still the best off-road vehicle you can buy. But beware of upgrade fever, it's a real disease 😂
I’m sure the upgrades will never be done 😂
Just stopped at dealership to check out my new TRD off-road premium , yep, u are correct, I already got the yota upgrade fever!! They couldn't get me with corona virus, so they got me with the yota virus!!
I wish the trd had a 3rd row option 😢😢😢😢
That would be great!
Where’s a dealership that has the rock bottom deals without the hassle?
You may join a 4Runner forum or Facebook group and ask, there’s usually lots of good knowledge and experience there
@@toptrims Thank you.
If I will be driving this 90% pavement and 10% off road ice/snow which one is best? I don't care about tech features.
Sounds like SR5 Premium or TRD Sport could be a good option for you depending on which styling you prefer. Suspension on the TRD Sport and Limited should give a better ride on pavement
2023 tacoma please, before it's gone
Great idea, thank you!
I just uploaded a video on the ‘23 Tacoma! Thanks again for the suggestion
If anyone lives in Pensacola hit me up. I work at a dealership and can get you a crazy deal on a new 4Runner!
Right on!
What dealership are you at?
@@tonyhaltmar1383 Bob Tyler Toyota. My name is Alex

I bought a SR5 PREMIUM WITHMORE EXTRA CRAP THAN I WANTED. BUT NATURALLY ASPERATED ENGINES WILL SOON ONLY BE SEEN ONLY AT RACE TRACKS.😂THJS TRUCK IS SOLID AND REFINED FOR THE LAST 15 PLUS YEARS..I WOULDN'T OF BOUGHT ANYTHING BUT THIS.
Yes, last of a dying breed. Hopefully you can enjoy for years to come!
I wonder if there are people who pay for a new TRD Pro, but then try to save $345 by not getting the running boards lol
Gotta make a responsible purchase 😂
I wish they would do a redesign im tired of this model I been waiting for 4 years for a change.
It is definitely overdue, especially with the new Tacoma coming out
2025 is supposed to have a redesign and engine change.
Funny, one of the things I love most about the 4Runner is the fact that they've had the same design for years.
I want a Pro but don’t like those colors.
Definitely not as enticing as previous offerings
I just retired… I’m thinking TRD Pro… should treat myself
You deserve it!
Heck yes treat yourself, if u can afford it, life is short, nothing wrong with having a good dependable vehicle u can have & use for many years.
Short Answer:
No changes to the 2024 line-up
Yep, pretty much the same beast
