I remember being laser focused on working as UX designer at Spotify. I got rejected so much that it inspired me to just work on my own music project. I have a great team and feel secured where I work, but still you never know. So many layoffs happening recently it’s crazy!
This is so inspiring. Would like to learn more about your music project if you don’t mind sharing
Life has some dark chapters- I am glad people speak on them and how they keep going.
Thanks for shearing. I am now still looking for a new job in Germany. It's been 5 months now.
I just found your video. They are really inspiring Thanks :)
Thanks for the lessons chief.
It always refreshing to hear real candid, real-life perspectives.
Honest takes and sensible advice. Thanks for the video Samuel.
Very insightful. Thank you for sharing your experience
I root for you man! Keep building yourself on UA-cam you got this! 💪👏
Some good tips in here. Very practical.
This came at the right time, we have similar scenarios and I'm just figuring out how to get back on my feet and things not to do for my next job. Thanks a lot man.
Thanks for sharing! Super insightful
really helpful, thanks for sharing
I'm sorry about your layoff-it's tough. But now's a chance to be entrepreneurial. God speed! 🚀
God bless for this 🙏
In this economy; no one should feel guilty of getting lay off.
It’s happening everywhere, not just designers.
AI may not be able to design BUT it has the potential of disrupting different industries; employments will be lost.
Similar thing happened to me as a product designer In Accra last year. I sensed it coming and rather resigned the moment(some days) it was about happening
I feel you, after almost 2 years in a fintech company, last week was my last after they decided to cut the costs. They fired almost half of the company due financial problems. Sad times for us right now....😢
the only thing i'll add is that job security STILL does not exist even if you are an entrepreneur. You have to stay on top of your market/industry/consumer trends. This is why it's good to try and have multiple ways you are making money, for example maybe you have your main job/business, then you do thrifting on the side, or maybe try to run 2 businesses depending on your bandwidth
Thank you for this as someone who just got laid off I learnt few things to do better upon my next job!
Glad you learnt a few things. All the best on finding a better job!
@@samuelfabayo1370 thank you
What did you get laid off from doing?

At days end, it’s still a business. These firms will cut people the minute they believe there’s an issue.
Great video Samuel, what the camera you are using?
Thanks, its a sony ZVE-10
@@samuelfabayo1370 Thank you
Regarding the sponsorship, how did you do to find companies that sponsor employee? Where you just applying at any then discuss about during the interview process or any else ?
I did some research and I only apply to companies that sponsor visas. Most of them state it in their job adverts. There’s also a published online glossary of companies that sponsor visas in the UK
Thanks for the video, Samuel! I just wanted to ask about visa: did your new company have to prepare THE SAME amount of docs for your visa prolongation? I mean was the process with the new company any easier OR the same as it was the 1st time you got a job abroad?
Both companies had a different approach to sponsoring. The second company had a stricter employment reference checks because it’s a financial services company, so that elongated the process the second time.
@@samuelfabayo1370 oh, by the way, how do they background check? I mean if it's in the same country, it might be easier, but did they also check your previous companies that you worked for in your country of origin? Or does this check only include the criminal history?
Yes they did. Had to submit people they can contact in those companies. Very few companies do this
@@samuelfabayo1370 Oh I see now. Thanks a lot!
do you mind sharing where you got your hoodie from?
Sure, it’s from fadedstore.com. It’s the basic hoodie
I think the first team to be clipped in the crisis is the design team.
