Hey Stefanovic, you're incredibly transparent and crystal clear. The brutal truth you share is hilarious! I wish every human had your level of integrity, honesty, and transparency. I'm puzzled why your channel generates relatively few revenues. Perhaps people are so comfortable listening to fake news and lies that a genuinely honest voice becomes unpalatable for them. A round of applause for you, sir!
It still seems to be, that it's impossible to start a proper Freelance career without spending 2-3 years in a corporate environment. Especially when you are a beginner... Stefan, your channel is a gem, it makes me inspired of this job. Keep it up!
It is a great barrier to protect the value of being exactly what you called a PROPER freelancer. Otherwise there would be only amateurs or self-claimed pro's with 3 months of XP. Very fair for those proper freelancers who did their 3 years and eat the fresher fruits higher up in the tree.
Its for the best. Theoretically understanding, and thinking you can do something, is much different than actually developing the skill and experience. Trust me you’ll be forgiven for your mistakes as an employee, in a way that you’re not as a freelancer.
I think it's not a bad thing to do if you are very young and inexperienced. Also less risk compared to investing everything in your business/freelance. Getting some experience before going solo is not bad imo. :)
I follow your example this year and the harmony & peace in my life is on another level. Thank you for sharing your story and experience, your honesty is visible and well appreciated. Please keep doing what you do, it’s inspiring. Nikolas from Greece 🇬🇷
First video of your's that I watched. Subscribed. I quit my corporate job at a top 10 tech company, 6 figure salary + bonuses. 12 years of overtime. The burnout is real. I'll be watching more of your videos.
Social media Data Analysis GOATS: 1. Luke Barousse (DA overview) GOAT of GOATS 2. Mo Chen / Chandoo / Alex (Explaining DA concepts) 3. Stefan (DA in practice / life / relatable experiences) 4. Sundas - Luke ( DA - AI ) Nice one mate 👏🏼
You're so inspirational to me, especially because I feel the same way about many of the things you say so I get the feeling that the way you've evolved is completely attainable
Love this - I'm also an "accidental" data analyst with a raft of side hustles, currently enjoying (or enduring) the corporate BS and looking for the most profitable way out....! awesome vid btw!
I can't agree more about corporate culture. People are so fake there, and you kind of forced me to be that fake, too, which made me hate myself so much. It was not what I thought I would be when I grew up. LOL. I choose to just stop caring and get paid, then go home. But knowing you chose a different path makes me realize there is another way to go. Looking forward to your next video!
This week as a finance data analyst has been brutal for me and now the algorithm brings me to your video. I totally get what you're saying as I felt the same toxicity - hijacked meetings, zero commitment from people I am working with especially when it cames to data (technicality stuff), and the whole "perfect for the boss" act. I wish I could have some freelance freedom, but in my case I need work visa sponsorship to stay and work in this country... feels like I'm chained to the desk.
I'm a 40 year old that feels very appreciative that I can do data scientist and software engineer (doing honours in physics maths). Every company, corporate environment has issues. Meetings I realize are killers, I just get to work with my earphones, and take notes when I need to. But I will never ever, not be appreciative to not have this opportunity.
One of your best videos yrt, Stefan. Your description of corporate life is so accurate, but you excellent style of storytelling makes it all the more realistic. Listening to you is a powerful wake up call for the corporate drone.
Great stuff Stefan, you've landed a regular watcher :) Respect the honesty and driving for what really matters to you. Too many of us fall in line and just do what we think others are expecting us to be doing.
I was a pure Balkan mother, did not give up your job, did not take any risks... but I am prouder than proud of what you have achieved in a short time. Proud you are a winner! love you..❤
Usually I don't comment on videos, but this time I really felt like doing so. Really liked your video! And it was the first time on the channel. I felt I've been to so many similar situations as you and felt the same. This corporate life behavior is everywhere and mostly the same. Glad you had de courage and skill to move on and try what you truly wanted
what I understand is that you need a skill, and then freelance that skill to get the maximum from it, and be kinda free, very nice, this is exactly what my plans are and the fact that I saw this gives me even more confidence, thank you very much!
Loved this video because you spoke about how important it is to be an authentic person and to live your truth.. A career is so much more than making a pay check. ❤❤❤
You are so truthful in this video. I like that. I am also encountering the same. Complaints, bad supervisors, team members don’t like each other but pretend to like each other 😊, hierarchy so we all stuck here and no one growth, on top of that dealing with yearly performance review that is your supervisors’ opinions. I am the same as you, integrity is one of my values. How did find the freelance work? Via Networking or something? If I get lay off, I will do the consulting.
In 100%, I agree that there is a lack of authenticity among managers. I've seen it many times and I don't understand how someone can become such a corrupt person. I wouldn't want to spend even 10 seconds of my private time with such a person. Manipulation, avoidance, isolation/silence, insincerity, lack of transparency, hiding mistakes, and forcefully demonstrating dominance are commonplace occurrences.
I'm living that project manager life and I can confirm that the workload and lack of work-life balance is real. I love the projects yet I have major burnout at times! Trading better financial health for worse mental and physical health. No balance!
@Stefanovic92 haven't had a spare minute since becoming a project manager a year ago to create a single video! You're so thoughtful to have remembered, thanks!
Imagine a guy who is just wanna go through same as your footsteps, i feel very enthusiastic with data analytics. I don't sure the ending but I'm on the truck now. Thanks for your inspiration
Man, I relate to this video 110%, due to being in the exact same position at this given moment. Started my new position 1 year ago as a sales/support manager a lt a global company. Step by step was building my way towards data anlyst position using excel and power bi. Made some projects with it and blablabla. Next month I should finally get a rase and swap my position to data analyst/engineer, BUT, it feels like I’d rather quit my job at this given moment and just go freelancing stuff like video editing and grow a youtube channel around it. But man, the budget is low and it’s just so hard to make the decision due ti finances… Completely lost at this point, and all I think about is when will I quit my job, but the manager is a guy with such a kind heart and helped me a lot, that I dont want to betray him with this step or something, don’t know how to express this properly. But I wanna say thanks for this video, good to known that I’m not the only one in this position, happy for you being able to escape this rat race, hopefully I will soon too. P.s. Wtf did I just see at 6:29 🧔🏼♀️
Awesome info! I’m only 24 with an MIS degree based in Los Angeles, and the struggle is real in finding a Data Analyst intern role. Loads of competition and hiring managers already want interns with some corporate experience. It falls into the paradox where; How can one get experience when no one hires you? Nice fade💈btw.
Your whole description of your journey into analytics and the corporate world is so relatable. I'm laughing along like you are literally describing the last 3-4 years of my career. 😂
Usually I´m not the type to comment on vids (lazy) but you got my attention with your jokes. Loved it, liked it, subscribed to the channel but skipped the next video (saved for later). Keep it up ✌

Ik vind het echt prachtig wat je doet. I was working as a manager. Soon I realized that email or call doesn't work if you want people to do things. Its always meetings, because it just worked. How do you do accounting if going freelance?
