Regardless of Kevin not having anything to do what what happened at the end, he was still apart of it way before that and was an enabler for Ruby’s poor parenting. He may not deserve jail time but he doesn’t deserve the kids either. He was so obsessed with his wife to the point he just allowed her to do these things.

@@bobbicatt I also watched 8 passengers and other family channels as a child. I would say for me the intrigue really was just seeing other kids living out fulfilling and interesting day-to-day lives. My home life was painfully mundane at that point and borderline abusive, so for me, it kind was an escape to see other people living happier lives. That's why the older I got, the less they appealed to me. Again, this of course was from the perspective on my child self who didn't have any understanding of the problems with family vlogging, nor did I have the emotional intelligence to identify when those kids were signalling they were uncomfortable in the videos.

They can’t mention what is going on with the hearings, specifics about the case, custody issues surrounding the kids, hearings related, etc. She didn’t have to put out a video but just like the last video she knows she will get attacked if she just starts posting videos about her new house construction and whatever fancy thing they are putting in their home. Sure there is probably sponsored content as well. She is anxious to go back to her normal life and putting up her own content. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a video about her house construction next week. What she is really worried about is her own brand and content. What is sad is that although she blames Kevin and clearly doesn’t think he should get custody of the children she must also not be trying to get temporary custody of the children either because she would have been told that the children need to be in a home with no filming and where their location is being kept private. Doubt many of Ruby’s siblings will be willing to give up putting up content to actually prioritize Ruby’s children.

They probably were told by their bishops or even by church lawyer that if they “slandered” Jodi or her practice they’d be sorry.

She’s incensed that she can’t continue exploiting her own children for money…she needs to get back to it to pay for her mansion. The mansion that’s is being funded by using her own kids as cash cows. No reflection whatsoever about the impact exposing your young kids to the world could cause them in later years, despite seeing how messed up her sister’s children are. All the entire family care about is their social media platforms and how much money they can make. I feel so sorry for all the children of this horrible family!

@@vainpiers This is a very common way to phrase things. Clearly not as bad as abusing them in such an extreme way although I watched them a long time ago when they were perhaps less censored and believe the indicated that they do believe and use corporal punishment in their home. Think punishing a child physically is pretty common in Mormon families and may be ok by church standards. The fact that this hasn’t been a big wake-up call for Bonnie about how harmful family vlogging is for children is the most shocking part. Ruby’s children would have been known for life for having an abusive mom with wild views even before Jodi. Can you imagine how much interest they will have about their life for the next 5-10 years and that this story will follow them for life. People will try to figure out where they go to university, if they get married, if they have children, where they work, etc. They will never be able to start a life where they are unknown and get to be known based on people getting to know them over time they will also be the 8 passengers child, the child that was abused, etc. Every employer and potential partner will likely google them before they even meet them in person. The siblings and their children are getting even more attention than they had before and they already had quite a lot of followers and fans. If they continue to post videos Bonnie’s children will experience even more scrutiny and a worldwide audience may take more interest in Bonnie’s family. If they keep on posting Bonnie’s family is likely going to be picked up by the worldwide media as being associated with Ruby’s case. Sure Bonnie’s children are already facing increased scrutiny in person in their city, at school, at church, etc. Would hope that Bonnie would want to take a break from posting and especially posting her children until things quiet down or even until Ruby is hopefully sentenced and hopefully goes to jail. Doubt that will happen. Also for all the accusations about Kevin and claims they are prioritizing Ruby’s children they don’t seem yo be focusing on trying to get temporary custody of Ruby’s children. They would not be able to post/film if Ruby’s children lived with them or give any clues as to where they are living. If she truly cared she wouldn’t have put out 2 videos where she spent a lot of the time complaining about this disrupting her own content plans and how Ruby would not stop her family’s content plans. If they kept off the internet they could be working to get qualified to take in the children for kinship care. Hopefully another sibling is working towards getting temporary custody of the children and doing whatever necessary to qualify to provide a safe home for the children. Believe Ruby’s children used to be quite close to their cousins on Ruby’s side of the family versus Kevin’s family so you would hope they would be placed with family they know already versus family they don’t know well.

And I believe that he believed this would make their marriage work again. That being said, he still participated in the videos that were problematic, to say the least, while he was still living with them. It is my opinion that Ruby forced that kind of parenting on him as well. But he is an adult, a grown man, a father, he has to be able to think for himself and should have taken his children out of this environment a long time ago. He didn't, he participated in the family vlogs and he probably will still follow whatever Ruby has to say from her jail cell regarding the children, therefore he shouldn't be allowed to have custody of them.

Alex, it turned out LDS has a whole department specifically designed for media relations which encourages and funds Mormon family channels, and that's why among all family channels, Mormon families are overrepresented. Please listen to Adam Paul Steer's story to hear how 8 Passengers is just a sand in a sea called the LDS and how it relates to Kevin (both a perpetrator but also possibly another victim, to an extent), and they have been only one play toy among hundreds of families for Jodi. Ruby is terrible, but also she's highly probably caught up in the insane web of Jodi who is just another level of pure evil one cannot even start to imagine.
It's like a perfect storm, eerily looking like on the path for a case similar to the Lori Vallow saga. My mind was blown away, and now I can see why this is very soon going to become not only a national but a vastly global story.

    • @amyseaden9069
      @amyseaden9069 9 місяців тому

Don’t think the LDS funds the family channels but one of the things encouraged by the Mormon church is to advertise how great being a Mormon is and try to bring in new members. Mothers were especially encouraged to post things like blogs and then post about their lives on social media. Posting how great life is as Mormon mom is may attract other families to join the church. Mom’s are also supposed to remain at home with the children so posting online would be a way to earn an income online. The church is all about getting money so encouraging so many to become influencers means the church gets 10% of quite a lot of money.

Not sure how you are letting Bonnie off so easily. A large part of the video was feeling sorry for herself that she hasn’t been able to post her regular content and complaining that it would be unfair to not post videos about them building their large home. Bonnie’s first video also primarily focused on complaining how much this is affecting them posting their own videos. If they post videos they would not be able to take in Ruby’s children for kinship care. The judge will want to protect the location of the children so returning to posting and then stopping would be a huge red flag signalling the kids are living with them. The children are familiar with Ruby’s side of the family and believe she has 2-3 siblings and their families who live in Utah. Child services will prioritize keeping them in Utah and prioritize living with family they actually know already. All this talk about prioritizing Ruby’s children and blaming Kevin but if she is talking about posting and returning to posting she clearly isn’t fighting to get temporary custody of the children.

She doesn't sound like she's feeling the way she described. It sounds like she's just saying words to say words. Wtf! is she talking about? It's unheard of, this kind of thing happens a lot. Where children are being abused by their legal guardian/guardians.

Kevin always looked either intimidated or scared by Ruby. I would be too. The woman is a bully and malignant narcissist. She threw him out of the house and told him it's best if he didn't see his kids. And he listened.
Kevin has no leverage in that marriage.

He seems to be a victim of coercive control.. None of the commentators mention the possibility, OR mention the fact that he's been ordered by the court to not comment..

Kevin was part of the abuse before the separation and after it seems like he was more obsessed with getting back with Ruby than making sure his kids were ok. He's an abuser. Charge Kevin Franke already!

Thank you for the video. You are asking the right questions.
    A few of my thoughts:
    • Jodi Hildebrandt had been getting most of her clients directly from referral from a Mormon bishop. And she was also getting paid by the Mormon church. Since Utah is a „Mormon state“, it seems likely that the ties to powerful players in the Mormon church have also kept her and her business partner Ruby shielded from prosecution.
    • Ruby had at some point abandoned her „8 Passengers“ project - and she expressed sorrow over it. Let’s not forget she made millions from it! Could it be that she had been given a warning by someone, kind of like: „If you keep maintaining this level of public exposure - including outside of Utah - we will not be able to protect you for much longer.“?

I grew up in an abusive home and it was extremely hard to get any help. I even called CPS myself. There isn’t much help for abused children in the U.S. and it wasn’t for a lack of good people surrounding me, my grandparents are the sweetest most loving people I’ve ever met, but my parents were so manipulative and abusive and secretive that they couldnt have known or done anything. I dont blame this sister at all and i hope the best for the family. The dad is absolutely to blame as well, just as bad as Ruby. She let that shit happen to his kids.

You have come across my feed since Ruby was arrested. I love your style of coverage. You are doing a great job. I’m going through some hard stuff and when the o my source of “entertainment” is you tube and drinking some coffee, it’s nice to have videos like yours. I feel like your point of view is that of a typical person, like me.
It does make me feel better when people that have made grilions of dollars are now in the slammer…

I think he knew what was happening. I also believe he had been separated from his family bc Jodi says he's a threat and was moved to a house w/ a list of things he needed to work on in himself in order to get back into a relationship with his kids and his wife. Also, present in Kevin's townhome was a minder provided by Jody Hildebrand so that she would know exactly what was going on. It seems she took every bit of privacy from all family members and used the secrets she learned in order to control the families. These included his non -existent addiction to p***. I think he knew it was happening but also feel he was being manipulated to feel he was horrible and a threat to both his wife and children. The MO displayed by Jody Hildebrand with respect to the Frankie family seems to be her go-to approach to break families apart so she can charge to fix them. I find all of this incredibly disgusting and was headed down the same road as the Lori Vallow case.

Everyone is hating on Kevin but nobody is considering that he was probably being abused and manipulated also. Until he has told his whole story nobody knows the true story, he may have been in on it and just as bad but i dunno ive met women like Ruby and the partner has always been treated just as badly as the kids :((

I grew up in the mormon (LDS) religion in another country and after serving a mission and baptizing people into this corporation... I eventually left but after I left I lived shortly in Utah... and I had never learned how the religion in that state controls everything and how powerful they are. There is literally no separation of church and satate in Utah. The church is everything. The church basically runs everything... PAY, PRAY & OBEY is the slogan. because after federal, state taxes the church demands 10%. this is info that most americans know, but for British or don't know. In mormon church to be "worthy" you have to give them 10% of your income.

Except - family UA-cam channels in Utah don’t have to pay tithes, and actually get paid BY THE CHURCH to give a positive representation on LDS on their channels. They are basically advertising the church subtly.
