Rhinoshield Crashguard NX Review - Best Apple Watch Case for the Series 6/SE!

- In general, I’m underwhelmed by Apple Watch accessories. Apple Watch cases are terrible. Apple Watch Screen protectors are equally as terrible.
Apple Watch Straps in general aren’t bad unless you get one from companies who try to be too different. But the Crashguard NX, an Apple Watch case by Evolutive Labs? Just wonderful!
Now Evolutive Labs told me a while back that they were making Apple Watch accessories, I thought to myself “WHY?”.
But after using the Crashguard NX for several weeks, I am wrong. Evolutive Labs has figured out how to make a decent Apple Watch case.

When it comes to Apple Watch cases, my two main gripes are:
They come off way too easily.
They feel gross.
And these two things, are mutually exclusive. Ones that come off too easily don’t feel gross BUT the ones that stay feel gross.
In general, the idea of the Crashguard NX for the Apple Watch is the same as the MOD NX for the iPhone’s. It’s tough and colorful.
The Apple Watch sits in a frame and then secured using a rim. The rim is easy to install and remove but didn’t come off from my daily usage or from drops. For me personally, it’s the different color combinations that made the Crashguard NX standout.
Now the average Apple Watch case wraps around the entire device and leaves the HR sensor exposed. This is fine until you start sweating and whatever your body is excreting gets caught between the Apple watch and case. That’s gross.
The Crashguard NX leaves the entire back of the Apple Watch exposed so sweat and generally growdiness, doesn’t get caught between the device and case. Smart!
The digital crown is relatively easy to access through the case. The button on the Crashguard NX suffices but I’ll be honest with you, I was really hoping to be able to customize the color of the button like I do on the MOD and Crashguard NX’s for the iPhones. All the cutouts on the watch aren’t covered so calls and sounds won’t be muted.
You can easily swap out your watch straps as the case doesn’t cover the strap release button and I couldn’t find a 3rd party watch straps that I own that wouldn’t fit.
Now the only thing that took a couple of days to get use to was the extra size of the bumper.
According to Evolutive Labs, the CrashGuard NX is drop rated to Mil-STD810G drop test standard. Which means this tiny little bumper is going to offer your Apple Watch drop protection of 4ft. Which isn’t bad.
BUT honestly, that’s ALMOST silly marketing fluff because if your Apple Watch is falling, there’s a good chance you’re falling with it.
I say ALMOST silly marketing fluff because there’s no standard out there for “protecting your electronic devices that are attached to from flailing arms”. I don’t know about you, but after I got my first Apple Watch, it’s became very apparent that I don’t know how to walk.
Seriously, who else does that? Most of my Apple watches are scuffed up along the edges because my brain still hasn’t figure out how wide I am. Also, I walk around with imaginary lat syndrome so that does help either.
The edge of the Crashguard is high enough to protect the edge of the Apple Watch from most glancing impacts and in the case of a face first drop, the edges are high enough to keep it off a flat surface.
If you’re wondering about Apple Watch screen protectors, well the only one I’d get with the Crashguard NX would be a plastic one that covers the flat face of the product. The rim isn’t going to play well with products that wrap around. BUT let me be clear, I personally get that screen protector because its cheap and terrible and takes away from the device. Only get it if you absolutely need to.

Yeah, I’m legally blind and I’m looking at the dog, I’m looking, I’m looking - the darne thing ain’t moving! WFD I thought “whattt”, it reminds me of the kneehigh statues that are in grocery stores/supermarkets for GUIDE DOGS where you put money in the top as a donation. Are used to run into them (as I couldn’t bloody see them) so my deal was when I ran into them and get some change. When I later got a guy dog and told them about this they thought it was well sick but really funny...

“It became very apparent that I don’t know how to walk.” Hahaha this is literally me. I would cringe everytime I would bump my apple watch on walls as I turned corners. I realized I was so clumsy
I pick one of these bumper cases when I first got my series 4 a couple months ago. It’s awesome as I’ve bumped and hit things and my watch is completely unharmed. In my opinion it strikes the balance between protection and style. I first tried the supcase for the series 4 but these is way better and more comfortable. I also love how you can still easily change watch bands too! Highly recommend

I totally agree. I have been using this for a couple months. I love being able to swap out the case and straps. I too have roughly 15 straps and the collection is growing.
people say this case destroyed their watch by chipping off the aluminium of the watch. what are your experiences with the case?

I got my dad a rhinoshield crashguard for my dad’s apple watch because he works in high voltage/construction situations. He loves it and is comfortable wearing his watch while working now.

Awesome review. I’m a trucker and so far my two watches s2,s4 haven’t been damaged but definitely have a ton of surface scratches. I also considered case bumpers but wasn’t impressed with what I saw and felt in stores. I just may have to order one of these, thanks for highlighting them.
I’ve had mine for awhile now and it’s amazing! Hopefully rhinoshield will do a screen protector for the watches, and I totally get not walking with a watch lol I somehow manage to bump it on everything like wtf

@@destinyjohnson4850 I haven’t worn it for a few months like I usually do, but the 6-8 months that I wore it 5 days a week 8 hours I haven’t noticed any chipping or anything like that, and I’ve hit the wall with it and hit it against steel carts, it’s the only case I’ve had on the watch with no issues
@@dovahkiinjohn1566 I’m actually worry about the screen because this is only a bumper. Does your screen scratch? Especially for the aluminium case without the sapphire glass?
@@KryptonKr I have a catalyst screen protector on the watch but I’m going to upgrade to the rhino shield one because it’s loads better, and the body of the watch seems fine, I haven’t noticed any chips or anything

5:02 : I know this was an older video, but I remember watching this part especially since I had scuffed up my old series 3 Apple Watch so much especially off the doors that I was SO overprotective of my new SE since I did not want to damage again. This convinced me to get a case for my Apple Watch and I bought one for my dad’s as well.

He's a tech reviewer not a style guide. You can't objectively evaluate which colors are best...
I’m sorry but I’ve had the worst experience with Rhino Shield. I ordered their standard case for a iPhone 7+ last year. I was sent the wrong product. Upon contacting them (which isn’t easy) I was told it was my fault. After many emails and unsuccessful phone calls I gave up. I however do like their product and it’s very unique. I’m glad you found a guard you like. I would try Skinomi and IQ Shield (same product from what I can tell) for your screen protection. It’s hardly noticeable and case friendly. The IQ Shield and Skinomi both have lifetime warranties as well. Each protector has last me up to 3 months (6 in a box). They are by far the superior screen protector for AW. Love the channel, keep it up.

Rhinoshield is a terrible rip off. I live in Canada and ordered because of your video. They shipped it DHL and now on an order of $49 they are trying to charge me $31.74 in customs clearance fees! Such a rip off. It's highway robbery. DHL courier is gouging on the customs fees and I don't understand why Rhinoshield uses them. If you live in Canada the beware of this company and do not order from them until they can find a different shipper.

Agreed. I rock a red crash guard with no screen protector on my series 4. I NEVER thought I would use a device without a screen protector but even with having an outdoor job, there’s only a few very fine marks in the oleophonic coating that you can only see in the light. Moral of the story, Apple Watch has a very durable screen.

Love this watch case but be warned - the company used the same mold for all of the models of the Apple Watch, so depending on which model you have the notch for the Digital Crown might not line up perfectly. You can still access it and use it, but it’s a little disappointing that it’s not made to fit exactly. I have the Series 3 42mm and it’s ever so slightly off center and it bothers my OCD very much. 😂
You might want to get the otterbox exo case then.

@@destinyjohnson4850 I’ve had it on for over a year now and have had no problems whatsoever, only issue is if you put a screen protector on then I found that the protector lifts after a while but no aluminium chipping or anything like that
What about the RHINOGUARD screen protector they advertise on their site? Is it a good combination with their case??

I'm happy with the clear Goton bumper I got on AMZN. Not too wide, does not pop off and so far hasn't gotten messy after 2 weeks' use.
I have the same problem wearing a watch, lol. Every single door frame is a danger. I don’t know how I’ve survived.
I just buy cheap plastic wrap around covers for my watch off eBay or Aliexpress, they do the job, and I can change them quickly if they get scratched. My iPads and iPhone have screen protectors on them and back covers. I also clean all around my watch, iPhone and iPads, with screen cleaner, every day.

Otterbox EXO Edge is available and I am deciding between each. They are basically the same except these have a lot of color options and the Otterbox allows easier access to the dial.
I have the lavender color one and love it! Not very bulky considering the amount of watch protection.
I wanna get this for my Apple Watch 8 if they make them. But I don’t like that it doesn’t have a built in screen protector.

Lape 99 I went with the otter box. Got it on eBay as new open box. Looks good and been pretty good so far. I think it looks nice too. Doesn’t add a lot of bulk. I have a technical job and it’s protected it pretty good.
