pro tip for the prism freeport. Ships cost like 10% more to almost double what they normally do. Fighters cost anywhere from double to 5 times as much. Guns are like a tiny increase if they are harder to find ones. (it was painful watching you drop 50k on fighters worth 20k or less)
My personal fav capital ship that has decks is the Odyssey. Couple plasma cannons and usually just some Xyphos as my support. You can circle around with that plasma burn and decimate a lot of ships. It's got some nice missile hardpoints as well.
First episode of a tough, slow-start challenge and already rocking the Heron... you are just too good for your own good. Loving to see more Starsector from you.
I cannot believe you scrapped a Legion Battlecarrier! You could have left it and came back for it later! You basically won the RNG lottery and threw it away!
I would 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,00,000% love to see this series go on for a long time and to see anymore star sector series... ^^
It was a long time since I last played Starsector, but my go to best ship was the Pirate Mule (Mule (P)) which is a destroyer sized freighter. The (P) variant adds speed, militarized subsystems and all those goodies along with shielded cargo (no more getting caught for smuggling) and if I remember a large ballistic slot with very good angles. But the beauty of my build, especially for this series, is to then equip it with the custom fighter bay mod, which makes it into a very nice ship, that is both a very good good cargo carrier as well as a decent support ship in combat, supporting from the back lines with a fighter and a long range ballistic weapon. And my favourite bomber is the longbow, I think, the one that has the Sabot kinetic missiles, which it fires at fairly long range and then explodes into shotgun shells and causes massive flux to enemies. Keeps the bombers safe and weakens the enemy a lot.
@@ThreatX Yeah, but the Pirate Mule is primarily a freighter. And you'll still need cargo haulers and tankers (and especially crew transports) other than just carriers. The Pirate Mule is just a nice mix of a good freighter that can also be made into a decent combat support ship. With fighters.
11:00 A bit late, and I don't know if you already know but. In case you're worried about others attacking you in hyperspace or unexplored systems, turn OFF your transponder, not sure if Nex has special AI rules, but normally legit factions won't do anything to you in hyperspace even with your transponder off, and it MASSIVELY reduces the range at which actually hostile fleets can detect and begin to intercept you from. I basically play Starsector like a submarine game, always turning my transponder off when not ''legally'' required to have it on to reduce my sensor profile, then I get ships with really good sensors so that I can prowl around seeing everyone while they're clueless to my existence. Nebula + Asteroid belt is basically my dreams made manifest.
How timely, just finished the old Pirate Lord playlist today and was jonesing for more Sector, and here it is. Very glad to see it, fond memories of carrier spam in the older versions.
I discovered your channel with MnB2, but since the game doesn't work on my computer anymore for some weird reason, I looked a bit into your other videos and discovered this serie. That's pretty awesome! I have starsector on my computer but I have to admit I don't really understand anything beyond the tutorial so it's great to see someone who actually knows what he's doing x)
All other ships and cargo are randomly generated in the system loot, but Legions are specifically hardcoded into the sector generation; they have their own line in the generation script, and its between 10-15 that will surely generate. Also, one ofthe best working combo is 1 Broadsword and 2 bombers, as the broadsword gets to the enemy ship sooner than the bombers and it acts pretty much the same as the bombers until it releases its flares that are usually very good to confuse the enemy PD and let the bombers hit.
Ayoooooo, i was waiting for you to start another starsector series, i actually downloaded your entire imperium series to pass the time between my college classes, tnx a bunch for the fun times, some of my friends play starsector too, and we just have fun talking about the chaos that is UAF XD
Carrier only is my favorite. Good choice going fighter uplink first. You may want to spend story points on reinforced hull on the condors bc they'll go down without a melee ship up front.
You passed up on a Venture, but I'd like to suggest that they would make an excellent cargo hauler for your fleet in keeping with your limitation of 'carrier only', given they have a capacity of 600 cargo AND built-in Surveying Equipment as a hull mod. Perhaps not the best in a fight, although they've got quite a few Ballistic slots, but certainly a potentially valuable addition to your fleet. Here's hoping you can find a Drover or two, they've always been my to-go for Destroyer-sized battlecarrier.
I believe that they added a setting in the latest version to turn off the blinding flash from ship explosions. Carriers are so much fun and using them as a "challenge' was a clever idea. This will be a very entertain series to watch. Cheers mate!
Holy shit man what a lucky start, battle carrier, venture and heron? Only if you had steady capital to field the venture or the first big mofo reliably. Some might say you are piloting carriers wrong, but man, it was fun seeing you practically spearhead and skirt between pretending to be an Onslaught and carrier
Fighter + Missile swarms is a crazy powerful build. Shame about the Legion Battlecarrier, but I can respect not wanting to just invalidate the early game. I rather do like to have a bit of a challenge getting started, in my own campaigns. It makes success feel that much better.
sooo.... you're right about there being a load of legions about out there... you'll probably be kicking yourself a little when you notice that it was a 14th battlegroup legion though. :P
I'm late to the party, by quite a while... But I'm glad to see you're back. Welcome back! And you're playing Starsector as well. Nice! Edit: I seriously cannot believe he dismantled a Legion...
push for the monthly D-mod repair skill (yellow skill near the end) and the droneship recovery one too (last tier of blue skills). getting a droneship carrier with alpha AI on your team can be hilariously OP. Also, running drones instead of fighters means 0 crew loss, though their bombers aren't exactly the best. (you've got to have a fleet that can handle at least medium threat drone systems, preferrably high threat ones, to farm enough drone LPC though)
I 100% love your starsector series! I'm very much looking forward to this one (if you wish to avoid storms and asteroid hits, hold the S key while traversing the hazard *No afterburner engaged)
Sweet. Are you allowing converted hangar hull mod (or too much of a cheat to pretty much get every ship) EDIT: Never mind, you answered that in the video. Big YT luck though, great pick up that heron
Curious to see how you end up making this work. A carrier-only combat fleet would be one thing, but denying the entire support continent? Oof... Logistics ought to be the backbone of any (carrier) fleet. XD
This luck is unbelievable. A heron and a legion in the first 2 systems visited? I've gone entire playthroughs without seeing a single legion, you get a XIV one on the first go
I got lucky as hell on my current run. Scavenged a derelict UAF ship and found a fucking semibreve (nuclear torpedo launcher that is perhaps the most overpowered weapon added by the UAF mod). Then I murked a pirate fleet and recovered a Legio Infernalis Mora added by Tahlan Shipworks, of which has a missile hardpoint capable of mounting the Semibreve. I also found an Onslaught but don't have the income or the fuel capacity to drag it around with me, not to mention I have a fucking nuke that can easily deal with most baddies. Problem is, it can also "deal with" my own ships. Total atomic annihilation doesn't discriminate between friend or foe.
24:30 Dude... Look at the bounties. Neither bounty is SPECIFICALLY targeting the pirates, it's just that the Sindrian dictat and the Persean league are placing bounties on eachother, and since they're both also at war with the pirates, the pirates also fall under both bounties. Bounties aren't placed JUST because of pirates and Luddic path.
While the Tempest is technically a carrier, it's also so much more than that. It's not as OP as it used to be, but it's still a pretty awesome starter frigate.
Hey everyone hope you like the video we are releasing this series every other day :)
Loved your previous starsector series. So happy to see a return to this game.
Love your starsector vids!

UA-cam just popped this up for me. I'm so happy for you and to see you've got a successful youtube. Well done Threatx! : )
The Legion Class : So... I heard you're doing a carrier run....
Lol always showed up that poor legion
Wooohooo, Starsector. I was expecting you to play this again... Just not so soon, what a treat.

We stay away from mod bays as it kinda means i can use everything lol so has to have a natural one

The Pirate Mule is just a nice mix of a good freighter that can also be made into a decent combat support ship. With fighters.

Love me some Starsector vids. And love me some carrier action. Reminds me of my Starcraft Protoss Carrier has Arrived! days.
I love your starsector vids! Have been meaning to tell you that while you were gone I completely rewatched your imperium and pirate videos!
@ThreatX Always more Starsector, very much looking forward to this man!
Omg I didn’t want to watch the Brettonian series because i dont like the mod but this is my favorite series of yours ❤️
Yeh me too, after awhile that series kinda got very boring :(
bannerlord mid and late game is well mid in definition might try and mix it up in the future
@@ThreatXI only watched till you created your kingdom.
After that it’s all too repetitive.
Looting that Legion carrier was epic😂😂
Some S-mods get better, some get worse. I believe it generally has to do with how many points it costs.
Pretty sure all logistics mods also get better s-mod regardless of OP cost.
Carriers.... my preferred way to play. There is something really fun about watching the waves of fighters go out and decimate the enemy.
This is a cool challenge. (You can turn off your transponder in hyperspace so it is harder for unfriendlies to find you)
oh but what is the fun in that i like danger
Babe wake up new threatx starsector series
How timely, just finished the old Pirate Lord playlist today and was jonesing for more Sector, and here it is. Very glad to see it, fond memories of carrier spam in the older versions.

Gosh, its so tempting to start playing starsector again
Happy to see the Star Sector series return, and with Carriers only it's going to be very interesting

Actually it's 3 per sector that spawn

The king has returned fully… 😢😢😢
Just in case you weren't aware, there's an option now to turn off the screen white out when ships and things blow up
