I actually recommend Midline stations for your own colonies. They can put a good mix of ballistic and energy weapons but more importantly, the fast spin of the station makes it hard for the ai to overload the station, they also often focus on the little spikes instead of the station itself.
imo high tech is still better for levels 1-2 since it has a separate energy bar for weapon and shields however lvl 3 midline stations are really good, just as good as the rest of the lvl 3 stations

What are your thoughts on Omega difficulty from the "Unofficial New Game Plus" mod? Interesting modifiers that would make for some pretty crazy playthroughs.
@Rarr, I've got a mod recommendation for you that is just perfect for you. Carter's Freetraders by Dazs, the same modder who made Junk Yard Dogs. Carter's Freetraders includes a 2-stage colony building where first stage makes Drugs (called the Biolab), and 2nd stages costs an industry slot but now makes Drugs and Heavy Armaments. If you then get Yunru Industries (from Yunru's free patreon page), then the Bazaar (a prequel building to the Commerce that doesn't cost an industrial slot, but still gives you a market the player can buy/sell to), then you can buy drugs for cheap at your own market. And voila, you have your very own drug producing empire. (Note: the Bazaar is needed because the base cost of Drugs from your planet stockpile is a flat 200 credits each, whereas the Bazaar's market costs changes with local resource production) I figured I'd share it here since, to be honest, Carter's Freetraders barely mentions the industry at all in their mod description, which is crazy for a colony building that doesn't actually take up an industrial slot (the 2nd stage for Heavy Armaments does). So combined with Grand Colonies, you can literally have every colony making drugs for you.
Thanks for listing a mod list in all your videos I'm still trying to find good ones that work without memory leaks killing my FPS I have 16GB of System ram and allocated 8GB in the vmparams files it helped smooth things out. The "AdjustableSkillThresholds" Mod for sure was the one giving me the Memory leaks haven't had issues ever since disabling the mod but that's unfortunate because I have to stick with vanilla limits for AI ships. I'll admit having 3 Alpha core Radiant Ships flying around was the most unbalanced and overpowered shit I've ever witnesses even the OP Faction mods like AUF with Semibrevs crumble into under the might of the Radiant when its decked out Smods,Hullmods,5 L sized frontal energy weapons 40,000 Cap 2700 Flux taking only 0.36 shield damage can warp the fk out to vent and warp the fk back in to melt shit with a lvl 8 alpha core (8 elite alpha piolet skills) stacked with the player fleet skills and 100% CR. Yeah it was probably a little too much when a bag of space Doritos got turned into Thanksgiving stuffing in 5 secs. I'll miss having 3 of them at 100% CR but I guess having just one at 60% is better than nothing or I just find a new ship to experiment with and break the game with what ever crazy combination of mods I can find.
Kadur remnants is much worse. They have a 80% chance of being wiped out within the first cycle or two. Then another 90% chance to be wiped out within the next few cycles. Their ships are glass cannons, great at missiles but bad at everything else. They do have an amazing dreadnought though. And their fighters (mostly bombers) are amazing.

@@onevillageidiot that isn't a counterpoint. I said you want to make sure that sustained burn is off because you get pushed around more easily by stars with sustained burn on.
