Regarding Mon Mothma's missing money, I don't think her issue is that she is desperate for the 400,000 credits. Its implied she's been moving around a lot more than that. The problem is that the Empire introduced new financial tracking whilst she was moving stuff around and the 400,000 got stuck somewhere, leaving a hole in her accounts. Essentially, she's stuck with a large error in her financial records, with no "paper trail," to indicate where the money went and why. So if the Empire were to take a closer look at her accounts, there would be a worrying error that might attract further attention - and then, if they looked closer, they might realise that she's up to some shady stuff. So it wouldn't be much help if Vel just gave her 400,000 credits. That would fill the lost cash, but it still wouldn't explain where the original 400,000 went. It would also expose Vel to further scrutiny, as it would just make the ISB suspicious as to why she's transferred that money to Mon Mothma. What she needs, effectively, is a money launderer. She needs to move her existing pot of cash to another account and she needs to do it in such a way that it doesn't arouse suspicion. That's why she may need to get in bed with a known criminal, as they tend to have experience with moving money around in ways that can't be traced. Essentially, she's screwed. She wants to retain her morals, but she is not a criminal herself. She needs to come to terms with the fact that she wants to fund an illegal terrorist movement and so needs to start acting like a criminal instead of a senator.
I don't think coming to terms with funding an illegal terrorist movement is the problem here for her. It's about sacrificing her parenthood for the rebellion. Not to mention allowing her daughter to follow the old Chandrilan traditions, which she and Vel are clearly against internally.

This movie has a lot of heartbreak, especially with B2EMO and Maarva. BUT- my heart fell into my stomach with the look that Leida gave Mon when she hugged Vel. That is some top-tier level teen angst, and I don't even have kids.
Ok, it is official now........Slave 1 is now the second coolest ship in Star Wars. Fondor Haulcraft is the ships make and model. Also, IG11 is now the second saddest droid story arc.......so far.
After seeing what his ship can do I wouldn't be surprised if his "cane" can do 5 different things with the main ability being a hidden bloody lightsaber that just happens to be a cane and a telescope. But nonetheless I wouldn't mind if Luthen had no connection to the Jedi or if he was one, make for a fun surprise if he was a former Jedi and would no doubt bring in those fans who are mad that there's no mention of the Force Jedi or lightsabers. You know people who expected the show to throw the Jedi and the force in their face but instead they kept it hidden "Hah there was a Jedi all along it was Luthen". Also something I really loved is at 15:52 this is a Cantwell-class Arrestor Cruiser named after Colin Cantwell who designed pretty much all the original Prototype movies for the ships in the original trilogy. This ship was pitched for A New Hope and was meant to be a carrier that deployed Star Destroyers which at this stage in Pre Production were much smaller. The ship would later be first brought to life in Solo within the background on a hologram when Solo was signing up for the Empire. It also showed up in a deleted scene showing Solo training inside an X-Wing which he crashed onto the Cantwell-class Arrestor Cruiser trying to dock inside the hangar. Just really cool to see old concept art brought to life decades later.
Agree they put too much focus on it for it to be just a cane. Luthen could be a former Repulbic Officer who was close with a Jedi or like you said he could be a former Jedi who survived went into hiding and is now planning to start a rebellion. Would by a nice turn off events that the one to help start the Rebellion was a Jedi who survived Order 66.
@@vengeance1939 Maybe a forbidden relationship with a Jedi keeping their Lightsaber as something to remember them by which could explain his hate for the Empire.
Cassian is so important because he links Luthen to Aldhani and Vel, an through Vel compromises Mon Mothma. He's one of very few people that can take down major nodes in the nascent Rebellion without even knowing it, and is the sort of risk that Luthen has in the past been careful to mitigate against. Even Krieger, the leader of another major Rebel cell, doesn't know what Luthen looks like. No wonder Kleya (Luthen's assistant) has been so insistent that he must be dealt with. EDIT: Oh, and it's 'Haulcraft' :)
Last week Luthen meeting Lonni AS Luthen and not in disguise said a lot about how important it was for Lonni to trust him. Even without that cold equation he revealed of a mole inside the ISB is worth more than fifty {or even five hundred} pairs of boots on the ground.
It's a Fondor "Haulcraft." Also the Arrestor Cruiser was seen in Solo. It's a ship designed specifically to stop ships from fleeing, it can also be used to "tow" unmaned ships for reposistioning. I'm wondering if Maarva isn't actually dead and the funeral is a cover for an attack on the hotel / ISB headquarters on Ferrix..
It was a concerned calm, which works. It fell completely flat in Phantom Menace with the underwater creatures because the calm took the sense of danger out of the scene.
Luthen did also task Vel with finding and removing Andor. I think that, as far as she's concerned, she's being stuck out in the cold while trying to follow his orders.
This episode makes me think that Luthen is an ex-Jedi. He converted in lightsaber hilt into a cane, he's dead calm in a fight, he has kyber crystals, and he has lightsabers out the sides of his ship. Of course all of these things could be explained by him being an antiques dealer with nefarious connections and money. :)
Andor has been such a brilliant, unexpected pleasure that if ep 12 is a slapstick musical w/ break dancing Jawas and a food fight between Rey and Jar Jar it would still go down as the best iteration of Star Wars I've seen.
Syril is the type of guy that when he hires in at a job, everyone pulls each other in corners to warn each other that the new guy looks like someone who could go postal. Just edgy and creepy.
I heard the confusion about where the other people are who broke out the prison and I actually think it's not that crazy we only see these 2. As Adam said, that was a huge sea/ocean, probably a little smaller than the Caspian Sea north of Iran, so really big. Even someone who can swim well would struggle, someone who can barely swim or not at all will just die and if you try to help someone who is bad at it, you'll probably die as well (that's why I think it's logical that Kino didn't jumo because he would have drowned 100% and drowning is one of the worst deaths). It also depends on the direction you try to escape, if you inadvertently chose the wrong side you suddenly have to swim around another prison (with it's swirl thingys) or just wider until you're at a shore. Depending on how long you swam, there might be imperiasl scouts on their way already. And as we saw in this episode, the scout ships are still looking for the escapees quite persistent. So the chance you actually manage to leave the planet is low af! I think that Cassian and Melshi get there together is a miracle and therefore an experience that will bond these two for the rest of their life.
I’m gonna do the heresy thing right now. I’ve sat with this growing sentiment for weeks and now, with only one episode left, I’m ready to go on record: for me, personally, Andor season one is the best Star Wars thing ever made. Books, movies, comics, anything. Yep, better than Empire. Better than New Hope. Better than The Last Jedi. Better than the Mandalorian. Steve Zahn weeps because his writing will never come close to the writing on Andor. I’m very serious, and it honestly isn’t a hot take for me, I’ve (again, to reiterate) been sitting with this growing feeling for weeks. I really think this is peak, pinnacle Star Wars.
Those countermeasures were sick ... He litteraly forced them to increase the power of the tractor beam so they would have more effect. I love it. And the sound of the turret of Luthen's ship, it's a turbolaser sound. And the empire ship is an Arrestor cruiser, and Luthen's ship is a haulcraft.
Re: What's it like after the fall of the empire? You got me thinking of "Star Wars: Bloodline" [the book by Claudia Grey] - Leia is a senator, no one knows [yet] that Vader was her father, and there are factions of the Empire trying to re-form itself again, leading to the First Order. it may not be fully what you're thinking of, but it does give a pretty good insight. i loved it.
You know Star Wars is in good hands when they can make you care about a robot and then make you cry. This show continues to impress me ever more. I think Luthen is a Jedi or former Jedi. Several clues so far. Never has any fear or panics. "I talk to ghosts". That rod thing when he went to see Saw Garerra.
22:00 That's one of the things I always liked most about the Legends timeline. The New Republic is still fighting the Empire for like 15 years post-Endor, and the best they manage is to push them back to a single comparatively small region of space. They're never able to fully eradicate the Empire, and they eventually both just acknowledge the stalemate/status quo and sign a peace treaty to co-exist.
For me this hasn’t been just an amazing Star Wars show, but an amazing show, period… all around regardless of the setting or genre. Incredible storytelling from start to finish.
15:58 I think it's worth mentioning that the ships classified as a Cantwell class - Arrestor Cruiser. It is named after Colin Cantwell who was designed a lot of the ships used in the OT including that Cruiser (the design was never used). He designed the X-wings, TIE fighters and the Death Star.
Andor has done a stellar job (amongst other things) in showing the arrogance of The Empire and showing that they are at their most vulnerable when they feel the safest. It explains why the Death Star was so flawed; they were blind to Erso because they assumed they'd beaten him and they never thought anyone would dare to attack it.
Imagine for a minute, given the history we now know combined with K2SOs last moments, that K2 is B2 transferred into a K chasis when the B chasis fails. The emotional 👊 of him sacrificing himself for Cassian goes x100

This may have already been said, but that cruiser going after Luthen was a Cantwell-class. One of the very first designs (I believe) for a Star Destroyer. It was obviously scrapped, but it's awesome to see it make a debut in live-action here. It may have been seen in the Rebels series as well, but I'm not 100% on that. I LOVE it when scrapped models/designs are revived in later media.
I respect if you aren't into the intro, but I still stand by it. It doesn't take very long, and I personally find it helps to get me in the mindset and/or(see what I did there?) right mental state to invest myself further in the show. Intro bullshit aside, as an ensemble cast, this is the best acted Star Wars content I have ever seen and it's also for my money the best written. I hope we get more quality writing and acting like this show in the future for Star Wars.
She can't simply replace the credits because her accounts are being monitored and possibly frozen. That's the issue. Not getting the credits but rather cooking the books.
The Imp Cruiser is an Cantwell-Class Arrestor Cruiser. Actually introduced in live-action in "Solo" in the recruiting film that is playing. The dishes are tractor beams. And, the reason Luthen cranked up his engines while in the tractor beam was so the Imps would crank up the power of the tractor beam and make the shrapnel hit harder to shred the dish. EDIT: As someone pointed out the Cantwell is based on early drawings of the Imp Cruisers, by Colin Cantwell.
Dude it makes me feel validated as a man to know I’m not the only man who get extremely emotional during this show. I’ve been watching your series after I finished Andor and it feels good to see people who felt the same way I did watching these scenes.
Point of fact- they mention in the show that Luthen's ship is a Fondor Haulcraft. So, it's not Corellian. Fondor is a different shipyard planet and it is awesome that they pulled it out of legends. The cockpit just looks like a Corellian YT1300 or YT2000. It does rule though.
That imperial ship is an Arrestor-class Cantwell Cruiser, and we see it in Solo, in a recruitment video. It was also supposed to be featured in the movie, but it was only in a deleted scene. Those dishes are all tractor beam projectors. They were cauling Luthen's ship a 'haulcraft'. As in hauling cargo.
Don't forget that when Andor is dead, Vel gets her girlfriend back. I think that's why she's so frantic/determined -- it's not about a thread back to her.

This movie has a lot of heartbreak, especially with B2EMO and Maarva.
BUT- my heart fell into my stomach with the look that Leida gave Mon when she hugged Vel. That is some top-tier level teen angst, and I don't even have kids.
The tractor beam countermeasures are FIRE. And the look on the face of the Empire when Axis hyper jumped out of there was perfect.
13:50 "It doubles as a pepper shaker" 🤣 Best explanation I've heard yet for Luthen's multi-function walking-stick lightsaber-looking thing.
Ok, it is official now........Slave 1 is now the second coolest ship in Star Wars. Fondor Haulcraft is the ships make and model. Also, IG11 is now the second saddest droid story arc.......so far.
That scene with Luthen was so tense, I was ready to poop diamonds, lol. But then his escape... *chef's kiss* I had let out a huge cheer! ❤️🎉🎉🎉
I would let Kleya step on me. I never thought I'd say that about a Star Wars character but here we are.
@@jimberjamber8540 Kleya is just the most surefire Rebel that stays the course, it’s nuts
TPM: Darth Maul ignites double bladed lightsaber
Luthen: Hold my Correlian Brandy
Skaarsgard is basically the Bruce Wayne of the star wars universe. Old, bitter, and angry, loaded with the ultimate batmobile ship.
Luthen just absolutely DUNKING on the Empire is peak Star Wars.
"Let's call it...war."
This is the Star Wars I've always wanted!!!!
Definitely one of the coolest ships. And I love how he remained calm that whole battle
"Power does not panic." Luthen is prepared for anything.
@@eat_pray_porg8450 That's a back story I would love to see
It was a concerned calm, which works. It fell completely flat in Phantom Menace with the underwater creatures because the calm took the sense of danger out of the scene.
Luthen did also task Vel with finding and removing Andor. I think that, as far as she's concerned, she's being stuck out in the cold while trying to follow his orders.
Bee made me ugly cry 😭 the emotion from his was so strong
Any scenes with Stellan and Forest are pure acting gold!
Him being a Jedi would be awesome but it wouldn’t ruin his amazing character if he’s not
Andor has been such a brilliant, unexpected pleasure that if ep 12 is a slapstick musical w/ break dancing Jawas and a food fight between Rey and Jar Jar it would still go down as the best iteration of Star Wars I've seen.
They built this city, Adam.
Also, Syril is gonna go full Norman Bates before this series is over.
Syril is the type of guy that when he hires in at a job, everyone pulls each other in corners to warn each other that the new guy looks like someone who could go postal. Just edgy and creepy.
The arrester cruiser ship was originally the first concept design for the Star destroyer in the original Star Wars movie. It was briefly used in Solo.
This is really becoming one of my favorite Star Wars properties EVER. I so wish this had come out before Rogue One- hell.. even before Episode 4.
Timothy Zahn.
@@davismccardle1 lmfao! Brain fart. How did I never catch that? Wow. Well, I’m gonna leave it. I’ll wear it.
@@jasonmarbach It happens 😁
Luthen's ship was a Haulcraft. The imperial ship is a Cantwell class Arrestor Cruiser.
Subtitles help with confusion.
2 episodes in a row Luthen’s scene steals the show😂🔥🔥 that ship was f***g awesome.
Adams thought of putting bee into k2 that’s a thought that hits hard
Thanks for the heartfelt reactions, you guys come across as good mates who appreciate the craft. All the best.
One of the charms of Star Wars as a brand is that the target audience is kids. But this show is for adults, and I am here for it
Adam going “WoOoOoO WoOoO” gave me ptsd of the screaming orcs in both Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War.
The absolute BEST SHOW streaming right now. I watch each episode twice, it's just that good....
Re: What's it like after the fall of the empire? You got me thinking of "Star Wars: Bloodline" [the book by Claudia Grey] - Leia is a senator, no one knows [yet] that Vader was her father, and there are factions of the Empire trying to re-form itself again, leading to the First Order. it may not be fully what you're thinking of, but it does give a pretty good insight. i loved it.
these freaking violins keep making me feel things but the feeling is stronger everytime
As soon as I saw the light sabres come out of the side of Luthen's ship I knew I could count on you guys to be as excited about it as I was :D
I love your guys energy and enthusiasm. It’s absolutely unhinged and I’m here for it.
For me this hasn’t been just an amazing Star Wars show, but an amazing show, period… all around regardless of the setting or genre. Incredible storytelling from start to finish.
Don't worry Adam, I caught that prequel reference with rolling being a cool trick 😊
Thank you 😁
15:58 I think it's worth mentioning that the ships classified as a Cantwell class - Arrestor Cruiser.
Luthen's ship was so EPIC and thtfight scene that to me was truly Star Wars and it was amazing!!! Maeve'sdeath broke me and the droid that made me cry really enjoying this show so much and didn't think I would but am loving it
The scrambler cruiser design is the original Star Destroyer concept from 1975.
Luthen should have his own series! That space battle was awesome!
I have never wanted to reach through the screen and hug a droid so much in my life!!
Love you guys, and Adam-you had some snappy comments this episodes: “Starbucks” and “ATT” 😂😂🤣🤣
the lazers from the ship is just like when Tony did it in Iron Man 2. loved it
God I love Adam reaction when he see the double lightsaber ship weapon. Because I remember him saying during the trailer reaction " I hope to see no lightsaber in this show of any type " . He didn't see that coming. Loll love you guys and yours videos reactions
Another fine emotion filled episode and Adam was on fire with his funnies! 😂🔥🔥🔥
First David Bowie references, now Pink Floyd. You guys are awesome!
That ship appeared in Star Wars Rebels and it's magnificent
She can't simply replace the credits because her accounts are being monitored and possibly frozen. That's the issue. Not getting the credits but rather cooking the books.
Hit the nail on the head with “The moral grey zone that Star Wars has always been missing”
I never thought I’d see flechettes in the Star Wars universe
The weapon Luthen used against that Empire ship actually exists. It's called Metal Storm.
Creepy hat guy: "I need to go undercover."
ISB Handler: "Just dye your imperial cap brown. It's a foolproof disguise."
😅😅😅
Luthen has the Star Wars equivalent of a James Bond car, because of course he does.
The Pink Floyd "....another brick in the wall." comment slayed me! 🤣
I'm not crying, you're crying...
God damn...poor Marva, poor B2EMO.
5:32 "He's a sweet, sweet little boy..."
And he just lost his mommy.
While I was first watching that sequence with Luthen in his ship I thought "oh man Jay's gonna love this"
“It’s a real thick gumbo” 😂
Everyone was raving about the monologues last week and Diego Luna went and said absolutely nothing and had it be just as powerful...
Don't forget that when Andor is dead, Vel gets her girlfriend back. I think that's why she's so frantic/determined -- it's not about a thread back to her.
