The speechwriters on this show are killing it. Not just Kino; not just Luthen; but, also Maarva. Even Nemik's brief talks about his views regarding tyranny and resistance (in dialog and in his manifesto) were very rousing.

I finally understood Luthen and the speech. Luthen works in the shadows, he undermines the Empire in secret. But Marvaa is asking people to wake up, stand against the empire ie. step out in to the light to fight. Which start the confrontation. This applies to Luten as well, let people know that there are people that are against the empire and they might join you. And all of works with Luthen's speech last episode "I dream of a sunrise that I'll never see". Dream/waking up, sunrise/shadow.

when the funeral band starts to play its meant towards the Imperials; as if they are saying:

It really makes you remember that we've been following protagonists most of the time we see Stormtroopers. People we know will reasonably never be killed, so only massive threats (Major crime lords, Sith, etc) actually trigger our alarm bells as viewers. A show like Andor, whose primary cast is a bunch of scrapyard workers? Yeah, Stormtroopers are going to pose a larger threat to them than fulltime smugglers, latent Jedi, and trained soldiers/mercenaries. Any time the common people's view of the Empire is shown, it always reminds the viewer that these atrocities are committed daily across the galaxy under the Empire, we've just been primarily watching characters with plot armor interact with them.

It seemed like he was just stunned by the whole thing, I'm wondering if it's because he's never been that close to the action cause he is just a behind the scenes kind of guy. And Maarva’s speech moved more people against the Empire than all he has ever done, and now he is questioning his tactics and mantra. This was bigger and beyond his control. Luthen did not have to do so many terrible things to start the rebellion. Maarva inspired more righteous uprising (in the general populace) than Luthen could hope to.

I think that Luthen is just seeing the result of what he was _trying_ to initiate with Aldani. It's no coincidence that Marva's activism was explicitly sparked into action by that event that he orchestrated.
Luthen wanted the complacency of the people to be broken by disrupting the Empire's slow & invisible stranglehold over the galaxy by forcing aggression. That's what will, start people fighting again - just like at the prison.
That's why even _knowing it would cost lives_ of people he knew like Krieger and people he didn't like on Morlana 1, it's what he's causing out of necessity. Like he said before - he is cursed to use the tools of his enemies against them.
Most notably, Deidra is the one who correctly identified that the strict and enormous response to Aldani was a misstep by the Empire for that reason, and why she's such a pivotal character. Tactically, she has what is necessary to stifle the rebel uprising entirely which is why it's SO important to see how that side operates and why ANY act of rebellion always has the possibility to be that one necessary catalyst to bring about the Empire's demise.

God this finale was so good, the build was well done and the writing was so good. I loved Maarva's speech.
My favorite touch with this finale is the parrallels to other arcs. Deedra is a mirror to Syril, their overconfidence and lack of experience in rela situations ost them in the end but Syril learned and grew from it and thus he was finally able to have his hero moment. I fully expect Deedra to get reprimanded and be more dangerous in s2. Cassian in that last scene mirrored luthen in the first arc, he presents himself completely vulernable to Luthen like he did and asks luthen to take him with him to fight for the rebellion. The funeral scene and speech were incredible, Fiona Shaw nailed it. i really loved this show and am hyped for s2.

That last scene is so well done. All throughout the show Luthen has been dealing with everyone questioning him. No one: not Vel, not Mon, not Lonnie, not even Saw can see the big picture that Luthen sees, they can't understand. But Cassian comes to Luthen and sees things so clearly. If Cassian is caught the Empire will make him talk it's only a matter of time, they will be that much closer to finding Luthen, the only options he has are to die and keep the secret or keep fighting. So on hearing Cassian accepting this Luthen finally has someone else that can see the big picture, someone he can truly work with.

Andor is awesome and will stand the test of time. This show set a new precedent for what Star Wars can be. And I agree they shouldn’t let Tony Gilroy run everything Star Wars. But they should let him have free reign of his own projects so he can keep bringing this flavor of Star Wars to the table. Thanks Kyle and Bendu for all your time and effort you put in to the channel. Happy Thanksgiving :)

I watched the OT as a kid and fell in love with the Star Wars universe. I saw the prequels in my 20s and was bitterly disappointed but by the time the sequels came out I had mellowed and come to see each movie trilogy for what they were - fantastic family films. Every trilogy IS Star Wars for the kids that grow up with them. So now I watch The Mandalorian, Book Of Boba Fett et al with my own young kids and have a great time with them and taking a good ol’ nostalgia bath.
Then Andor comes along as the only piece of live action Star Wars that has been written for those of us who grew up with Star Wars but are now GROWN UP. It manages to be respectful of everything that has gone before without feeling limited by it, and has been unafraid to write truly new stories and characters. The cinematography, music, writing, casting and performances have been as good as, in many instances way better than, anything we have had in Star Wars to date.
I agree with Kyle that there is absolutely still room for the family-oriented action adventure that we see in the other content, but I have been overjoyed to finally have something for me NOW, not something just for 8yo me.
Immense. Huge props to the whole Andor crew.

I love how the battle managed to make the Imperials look both menacing and pathetic at the same time. Shots of Stormtroopers cleanly picking off civilians through the chaos and smoke, juxtaposed with officers weakly scrambling to pull themselves up from the dirt. Some of the midground characters from Ferix being gunned down, slam cutting into Dedra getting bodied and struggling to even figure out what to do in a real combat situation. Its beautiful. EXACTLY what Star Wars has struggled to do for decades, done near-perfectly here. Its essentially giving is a quick and dirty microcosm of the Empire and its current state, all within a single riot/battle.

    KRIFF YES!!!!!
The finale was so worth those separate arcs from beginning to end, and the speech Maarva gave from beyond the grave really is the spark that it'll light the fire to bring the empire and eventually First Order down. Additionally, Barsso and the rest of Cassian's crew is alive and well so Season 2's direction is so gonna be much more gritter as its a time jump.
AS usual, Kyle and Bendu's reactions blessed us time and time again. Also, The Empire's brutality and cold demeanor's well shown here too as a lot of us misunderstood that the Empire's a not so big threat, but this show changed our view of them for the better.

27:09 Right? Right? "Andor" did this so incredibly well... creating tension and suspense, making you wait for the inevitable. They did it before during the Prison-Arc and especially masterfully in the Aldhani-heist episode. The entire time you're at the edge of your seat, waiting with bated breath for that one moment when it starts to go down. You know stuff's about to happen (or, in the case of the Aldhani-Raid, you just knew that at one point something would happen that would make it all go sideways), you KNOW it, you just don't know when or what exactly.
Sidenote: Gotta admit, i especially liked seeing Brasso tear shit up. I would have prefered to see the Hammer-guy on the tower dome that Trooper coming for him with a hammer, though.

I mean, it's literally the only theory everyone got right, and it was because everyone instantly said "are they building the Death Star?!" out of being programmed by previously predictable Star Wars stories. But in this case, for this story- specifically the Tragedy of Cassian Andor/Rogue One- it made the most sense. He is literally ended by the weapon he was forced to help make, the ultimate irony. This show is so freaking good.

I think this series was divided into two objectives, 1 to show the way to Rogue One, and 2 to show the true face of the empire.
The other point is that thanks to this you know more about real Star Wars fans, with Andor I was disappointed with many UA-camrs (and very big ones) who claimed to be "fans" and thanks to this it was revealed that they are only fake, or as they say in my country Chile "Son de Cartón"
Thank you Kyle and Bendu for so much! May the force be with you always.

Amazing series. Enthralled by it all!
As you said possibly the best SW content so far.
We’ve always seen the saga through (super) heroic eyes so the Empire always looked clumsy & bumbling. Finally we get content through the citizens eyes and The Empire is absolutely terrifying!
“There is a wound that won’t heal at the center of the galaxy. There is a darkness reaching like rust into everything around us. We let it grow, and now it’s here. It’s here, and it’s not visiting anymore. It wants to stay. The Empire is a disease that thrives in darkness. It is never more alive than when we sleep….
….But I’ll tell you this, if I could do it again, I’d wake up early and be fighting these bastards from the start
    FIGHT THE EMPIRE!” ✊🏽
    - Maarva Carassi Andor
P.S. I knew the Empire wouldn’t just waste prisoners and therefore used them to build parts for the DS.
