Great video! You should use that 8 horse Briggs as a replacement engine on a push mower. It can be done
lol! yeahman that thing would rip!
good idea!
@@JeffsLittleEngineService You should try that.
Thanks for posting this!
This is both timely and invaluable to me. I just brought one of these engines home today, mounted on a near-cherry JD R72 riding mower.
nice!
Thanks!
Build an engine test stand . I cut the front section off a junk riding mower and made one.
I have the horizontal shaft industrial commercial version off of Troy-Bilt tiller. Bought new in 83 ,still runs good!
Wow that was a long haul, you are absolutely amazing. Three part vidio and well worth it.👍👍👍.
Thank you so much! I was happy with how it turned out and ran great.
Jeff, you have some good patience, may God bless you through it. And thanks for the videos.
Thank you
Jeff, it should be a nice little engine for somebody! Sounds good and runs smoothly. 👏✌🇺🇸Roger
Thanks 👍 I am happy with how it all turned out
Great job on this engine. Getting the carb on looked like a hard handful though but you got it done. The little engine sure sounds good. Thanks for the video.
Thanks 👍
great video Jeff lots of valuable info. I have one that was vibrating like crazy its apart so figuring out what might be wrong.
Yeah the one I was talking about was smaller than that on the main jet. So I guess I seeing things
Jeff. you do such a good job with your channel. i have learned a great deal by watching your videos. And i am entertained also - i especially like those beautiful chickens of yours.
I appreciate that! thank you so much for the nice comment
Wonder how fast that would spin if you put it on a swivel!🤪 @24:25. GET THAT SCREWDRIVER AWAY FROM ME!!!
Did you forget the little Brass washer or am I not seeing something
Doggie just had to get some camera time ha ha ! Old Briggs purrs man yeh yeh !😎
Wow
If you get that strap off your hoodie tie Caught In that screen guard. You’re going to be working on line wars with no head. Same way with that muffler burn burn burn
That should say lawnmowers
If I want to use an old key switch to simply turn engine spark on and off would i simply run one wire from the coil to M side of s.witch?? Engine is pull start.
I’m not sure if you put the brass wash it back in or not if you did I didn’t see it sorry
I was wondering when you would notice the main jet washer.
Hey Jeff I love the work you’re doing I know you’re not a information center. But I have 18 1/2 hp craftsman just getting weak fire could it be in the coil
Thanks friend. No probably not the coil
@@JeffsLittleEngineService what else do u think it might be the Valves are the Top endI’m 70 years old and I just forgot so much that I just can’t remember anymore HELP ME OUT LOLHA
Do you have a part # for the head gasket. I can't find one, so I won't start tearing down the engine until I do.
I could not find one. However people have commented on this video with the info. you are looking for.
@@JeffsLittleEngineService thanks I will scroll through the comments again.
would you happen to know the oil capacity on this engine? I do not have the correct dipstick and I need to change the oil and don't want to over fill
1.0 litre (1.06qt) of SAE 30 for that 8HP. I have the same engine and just did an oil change. That amount took it up to the full mark.
You should have asked Earnest to come over to hold the engine down... I'm sure he was willing to help.
lol!
There you go I hope you read my post so you know what you did wrong. We all do everything wrong all the time.
Are all the eight horse craftsman motors out of style where you can’t get parts
I am not sure about that
Thanks for getting back to me appreciate it
I have a new spark plug also a new carburetor on my Honda 3000 psi and it still won't turn on
sorry man... I have videos on how to fix Honda pressure washers
Nice quiet muffler, Part #.??? The B/S muffler is not as quiet.
It was called a low tone muffler on Amazon
Wish you lived closer to me I’d be interested in that engine I need a replacement for my 1980s Murray I priced out the cost in parts and I found that it would cost more money in parts than it is worth to fix The opposed twin engine that it originally came with. Would love to replace it with a V twin but I think it would run just fine with an 8 hp Briggs even though it originally was 18 hp Briggs I don’t see why an 8 hp Briggs couldn’t power that
I have an engine just like the one in this video. I put it on a Craftsman 42" lawn tractor that originally had a 14.5 hp on it and it works fine.
@@lawrencecarroll2031 I figured it would I’m looking around for a opposed twin but this is my next option I’m trying to stay away from overhead valve I just don’t think overhead valve engines are very quality built it would cost way to much i feel to repair the original engine because I’d have about a $121 give or take in parts plus not in clouding gaskets spark plugs and oil which is nothing really thoughs are the cheapest parts
@@lawrencecarroll2031 I figure I’ll keep a flat head open as second option for replacement
@@lawrencecarroll2031 the original engine is a 18 hp
@@Ellenslife851 Where do you live? I have an
opposed twin, Briggs flat head
