Iv still got mine and my flying sub .I waited months to save up and finally got the seaview then spindrift then flying sub that was around 1970
Remember the pale yet bright green of the interior plastic. Like most kids once it was built I played with it hence broken top and lost dome. Good days.

Got two of the polar lights repops in the stash - keep being frightened off by childhood memories of the top not fitting 😊

I built an old Aurora one in about 1978. A nice kit, but when you get to look at it closely, the 'Spindrift' is rather odd; firstly, there is no landing gear - no hatches, nothing, so it must sit on it's belly, or, it is recovered in mid air, like the SHADO Lunar Module. There are no control surfaces, anywhere, and no RCS ports (which is how Thunderbird 1 is controlled at hypersonic speeds - that's what the slots behind the nosecone and forward of the engine unit are). There does not seem to be any external access to Spindrift's powerplant, either. A very odd ship. Oh, and the interior has that TARDIS like quality that the 'Lost In Space' Jupiter II has.
Your video has rather tempted me to build the 'Polar Lights' version of this that I have in my stash.
And why no Fitzhugh figure? For shame. 😆😆😆
