You need to spam those sidekicks tho, they are here to help. Korsica, weaken them > Pepper lock them in position or break their shield > Mac crush them (he's the hardest to land tho), but by the time you cycle them they are recharged, some chips help boost the timeout. call them all the time.

I died to Kale's final phase more times than I remember, but it just takes patience, attention, and good timing in the end. Really all of the bosses do, Kale just demands more of it than any of the other bosses. He's a bastard and a half on the Rhythm Tower, though. He's the final floor, and and if you make it to him with less than two minutes on the clock, might as well restart the whole tower.
@@therealblackcerberus2371 I'm really struggling against the clock in the tower lmao - I can do all the rooms without taking too much damage but for some reason I just don't clear it all fast enough. Couldn't imagine Kale with a timer.

Well I wasn't expecting to see Xenogears sitting in a spotlighted chair with thing swinging in the background reference but my god they unearthed that trauma right out of nowhere.
Holy shit... that's insane they would reference Xenogears like that hahaha That's the entire layout of Disc 2.... if there's any game that deserves a remake or second chance to be done the way it should, it's Xenogears. They could literally just release the game how it originally was but just flesh out disc 2 how it should have been if they would of had the budget and time.
This game is literally anti-modern AAA gaming in all the right ways and will always be a modern classic in my eyes because of it. Good luck have fun! PLAY THE GAME ON HIGHEST DIFFICULTY, i believe in you! good bye! ( i watched part 1 and 2 of this series just because its such a good game even if im not playing.)
Honestly, I'd mark this down as an easy GOTY. It may be cheesy or follow the standard comic book hero trope but to be honest, the whole game is charming, fun and refreshing. In an age where it feels like every game is trying to pander, squeeze out your money, or just straight up make a quick buck on a half baked game;it feels astounding to play a game that you can FEEL the amount of love and care put into it. It's replayable, the characters are lovable, the jokes are just right and everything about it makes me feel like I'm playing a game like castle crashers or battleblock theater. A game to have fun and enjoy for the sake of enjoying. The OST is honestly amazing to listen to, the fights are challenging but feel rewarding and the animations are top notch. Honestly, for any shortcomings the game has, it feels like it has 5 more things going for it. This may be being overly lovey for the game but this game has already marked itself as a keepsake in my book and would love nothing more than to see this game get more attention, because honestly, it deserves it. Also I will have no arguments on this, the harmonic shield sequence had me in GOOSEBUMPS, it was such a heartwarming sequence with just the right amount of humor with CNMN. 11/10 Game easily!
16:25 Wouldn’t it be funny if the chef robot sounded like Gordon Ram- I mean, a legally distinct angry British chef? “PARRY THIS YOU FUCKING DONUT!!” “This steak is BURNT you NUMBSKULL!” *insert projectile attack here*
There's something fascinating about using this mass mind control device just to sell more stuff. It takes the villainy down just a notch from over the top cartoon character in a way that characterizes Kale. He's just a creatively bankrupt brat who feels entitled to the perks without wanting to do any of the work. It's more believable, and offers some impressive emotional subtly in this otherwise joyously goofy game.

big same. I thought when 808 had a yellow color for him that CNMN would be a partner eventually, but I guess some things aren't meant to be.
@@RotaAbyssian The peerless mechanical complexity when you play as him more than makes up for it
Whenever Max uses the non-efficient partners to attack blue bubble barriered enemies, do you ever hear Sinatra singing "My Way" in the back of your head?
Yes, but it's the Sid Vicious version.
Kale boss fight time stamps
1:32:50 Start of boss fight/Phase 1
1:42:10 Phase 2
1:47:20 Phase 3
2:20:38 Final stretch before *wombo combo* finish
1:32:30 I love this reference. Game is such a treat for people who love music
Mind telling me? I feel like I’ve seen it before can’t put my finger on it tho
@@somedude9450mama said knock you out ll cool j
You know videogames have gone down the pooper when you get genuinely surprised that a game uses it's own in-game currency doesn't have any microtransactions when buying cosmetics
I've never seen so much soul and love in a video game since the nearly forgotten days of yore :')
Couldn’t be more Happy that you enjoyed this game!! Shine on sir!🎉❤
I like how Scrooge McDucks money bin was able to make an appearance @52:52 ;P
Man such a shame you couldn't have Whirring in the final level, it's so much better with that track. Chills the whole time
Never heard the streamer safe invaders must die before, honestly not to bad just wish license music wasn't such a pain in games.
Such a beautiful refreshing game now im such a fan of Hi Fi Rush
This game was released in the wrong era...
And I'm glad it was, kudos to the dev team for getting so much right with something so experimental. This is truly a gem.
You need to spam those sidekicks tho, they are here to help. Korsica, weaken them > Pepper lock them in position or break their shield > Mac crush them (he's the hardest to land tho), but by the time you cycle them they are recharged, some chips help boost the timeout. call them all the time.
Man i hope this gets a sequel.
Wow, I was expecting the "Evil AI is the twist villain" cliche at the end, but I'm surprised that is not the case!
The fight against the green lizard before entering Finance. Am I the only one straight up shouting to the screen "CALL MACARON, THAT SHIT HAS Z-SHIELDING DAMNIT"?
Trust me, you were not. He did this to literally every Z-Shielded enemy in the game outside of the one they force you to call Macaron on during his intro. He bounces and gets hit dozens of times more than necessary because he thinks he can break it with a combo, despite explicitly being told he cannot.
This game deserves so many more sales that its having right now!
Max: talks to everyone else’s dialogue
Also Max: “Upgrade my equipment macaron!”
this was so satisfying to watch max your a legend at this game forreal
10/10 MASTERPIECE! 💯
Fun fact, during the cafeteria fight, the original song is "invaders must die"
love the Xenogears ref
I bought this game even though it's on Game Pass. More of these types of games need to be supported.
On one hand: I really, really, REALLY want to play this game!
On the other: I do NOT wanna have to buy a whole new system to get it, whether it's a pc or even a steam deck (I've been Playstation most of my gaming life)...too much $$ to play one game
You could get a series S? 😅 those are cheap
Just by remind us why games are fun, this deserve game of the decade, no microtransactions, no agenda, no BS, just a fun game with likeable characters.
Holy shit, has been a while.
But it kind of did have an agenda, in poking at the garbage practices of modern corporatism (specifically gaming) and going against them.
@@kamikeserpentail3778 yeah but it was really just parody and satire. You're either in on the joke or it doesn't effect you in anyway and is just some humorous dialogue.
It's like NSR meets DMC (DMC 3 specifically) but I'm not gonna lie, the game can bring a tear to your eye in quite a few places.
This is just the movie Robots dressed in Jet Set Radio, and it works incredibly well.
*I hope Max don’t just drop this game after beating it. If it’s truly GOTY contender we need a run back…gotta get some hardest difficulty runs and potential Boss Rages out of it*
Rhythm master mimosa and Kale are without a doubt boss rage materials
If Resident Evil 4 remake wasn't coming out this year Hi-Fi Rush would definitely be my GOTY
giant wolf mecha was not expected but certainly welcome
Roquefort is literally a suspiciously wealthy furry which is also a bit greedy.
Kale's final phase was near impossible on Very Hard, I had to manipulate his AI and essentially kite him around and constantly shooting him with peppermint till he was stunned. It was LONG but i managed lmao amazing game glad u seem to have loved it too
I died to Kale's final phase more times than I remember, but it just takes patience, attention, and good timing in the end.
Couldn't imagine Kale with a timer.
lol he is easy parry the lasers and you win brakes amour every time
Parrying attacks breaks the combat wide open, and the game encourages it!
@@Kujaguy Facts
I love how Max's first nitpick is the combat needs more fleshed out. He wasn't even using HALF the shit you can do in this game. This game's combo potential is CRAZY.
Well I wasn't expecting to see Xenogears sitting in a spotlighted chair with thing swinging in the background reference but my god they unearthed that trauma right out of nowhere.
So uh, Lu-Cille just straight up assassinated her boss with gold.
Max is a hi Fi rush fan 💪
max immediately buying the 808 shirt lol. This man knows whats up
Kale says Loser with the hard r lmao
God I wish more games were like this.
The animations were badass , i like it ...
Holy shit... that's insane they would reference Xenogears like that hahaha
That's the entire layout of Disc 2.... if there's any game that deserves a remake or second chance to be done the way it should, it's Xenogears. They could literally just release the game how it originally was but just flesh out disc 2 how it should have been if they would of had the budget and time.
Didn't have to wait for 2 year for part 3
This was a fun adventure. Glad I could see your experience.
Surfacing my 1# favorite music of Hi Fi Rush I love this song!
Man; I want DLC to play as the crew.
Too much potential there for fun gameplay.
This game is literally anti-modern AAA gaming in all the right ways and will always be a modern classic in my eyes because of it.
People can bicker about whether or not its GOTY, but I will throw down with anyone who thinks this isn’t one of, if not the most important game to come out within the past few years.
I don't even think you can rage in this game, because it just sounds.. So.. So... Amazing😢 (if there any other word tell me)
Ive played this game, and have said the same words, "Game Of The Year Contender ". So i just came here to give the video a like since imma be doing my own playthrough again. yes. again.
The phase after the doc octopus one sounds like the perfect drug by nin. I'm not sure if this is the song on the dmca version of the fight
16:25 Wouldn’t it be funny if the chef robot sounded like Gordon Ram- I mean, a legally distinct angry British chef?
“PARRY THIS YOU FUCKING DONUT!!”
“This steak is BURNT you NUMBSKULL!” *insert projectile attack here*
42:30 Sabrewulf got an upgrade all of a sudden…
There's something fascinating about using this mass mind control device just to sell more stuff. It takes the villainy down just a notch from over the top cartoon character in a way that characterizes Kale. He's just a creatively bankrupt brat who feels entitled to the perks without wanting to do any of the work. It's more believable, and offers some impressive emotional subtly in this otherwise joyously goofy game.
IVE LITERALLY HAVE WATCHED THIS SERIES JUST TO MAKE SURE I WASNT THE ONLY ONE THAT NOTICED THE XENOGEARS REFERENCE
Thanks for the upload max!
YEAH, ITS TRULY IS A GAME OF THE YEAR CONTENDER!! This is such a MASTERPIECE!!
Edit: Rougefort is definitely my favorite Boss! Giant Mecha Werewolf?! HELL YEAH!!
