Lies of P was the first souls like where I actually forgot i was not playing a souls game sometimes, it’s also simply alot of fun. Great atmosphere, some really memorable bosses. Awesome concept.
I’m really looking forward to the follow up to this game.

Man im working today, An was like OH DAMN i've got a MAx playthrough to have on while working all day WIN. Elden Ring got me though weeks on end lol
Alice in wonderland would 100% fit this type of game. The creepiness to the world the mystery and the ability to grow in size or shrink would be an fantastic addition to a game like this.
That would be cool, but I think the sequel they hinted at in the post-credit cinematic may wind up being just as good if not better. I love the idea of these developers continuing with this theme of making soulslike games based on old fables.

In the post credit scene, they mention Dorothy and show a girl in red heel shoes. So possible sequel or dlc about Wizard of Oz.
I would love for them to pick up on American Mcgee's Alice but unfortunately EA wouldnt give up the IP. I wouldn't mind this company to make their own rendition though. The amount of creative opportunities they can do with the weapons and the world building.

After thinking about it more, I actually think I'd really love the idea of having them do "The Little Mermaid" next. Picture this...
You play as a mute girl, who was found washed up on the shores of a coastal city, which is ruled over by the local royalty in a nearby castle. The more she investigates the town, the more she realizes that dark tentacles slither throughout the entire town, controlling its citizenry and driving them to attack "outsiders", like the mute girl. What shadows lurk over this coastal city? What calls to them from beneath the waves?
Fromsoft: “Nah we’re good on making Bloodborne II”
Neowiz and Round8: “Fine, we’ll do it ourselves”
In Futurama’s Bender Voice: “Fine! I’ll make my own Bloodborne! With clowns and puppets!”

It's only BB like aesthetically. I think the most accurate description I've heard from ppl is "Looks like BB, plays like a more grounded Sekiro".
@@meteor22it’s got more bloodborne dna than just the aesthetics:
- rally like mechanic fir regaining health.
- Only a single weapon slot with most weapons being very unique vs the normal medieval weapons (the weapons you can’t change handles are arguably trick weapons)
- No shield, but a unique parry system
That being said the gameplay takes more from Sekiro than Bloodborne. I’d say it’s gameplay is:
- 10% Dark souls
- 40% Sekiro
- 25% Bloodborne
- 25% original ideas
Lore/aesthetics:
- 40% Bloodborne
- 10% Sekiro
- 20% Pinocchio
- 20% I Robot
- 10% Full Metal Alchemist (specifically the original anime that deviated from the manga)
Something that isn't communicated well is that you lose echoes for getting HIT on your way back to collect them. If you kill the enemy that hit you, it returns to the pile, however.
I never even noticed that it did that until late late game, cause I always killed all the enemies on my way back to where I died.
Yeah I didn't even grasp that until like chapter 9 or something lol
Oh so that's what that was about, I saw the ergo loss skills and was confused. Never truly realized that despite 100% the game
This game had no right being as great as it is. Had a lot of fun burning hours into 2 playthroughs while off work this week. Well done to the devs and producers
What's great is that it is enough differences to be a great addition to the whole soulslike genre and hopefully other games will take Elements of Lies Of P into their games too.(switchable blades)

While many people have pointing this game's similarities to Bloodborne due to the aesthetics and some visual elements, I think Lies of P's gameplay has more in common with Sekiro due to its parrying mechanics.
to me, Lies of P is Sekiro meets Bioshock with a small dose of Bloodborne
the direct comparison to Bloodborne gets more overblown as you get further into the game (imo)

Its NieR meets Bioshock in terms of theme and concept.
And really? if a game's separate aspects can be compared to multiple separate games. Its safe to say that its doing something unique.
Sekiro's parrying is instant. LoP's parry has startup animation and is much harder.
It's more "souls with easier parry" than anything

Beat this game last night. I legitimately would consider it better than several FS games. It gives so much atmosphere, music, and something I wish more FS games did, which is closure.
It's the perfect blend of sekiro/bloodborne, it's rare for a game to deliver on the high hopes and promise it shows and more.
I feel like it’s exactly what would happen if you put Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro in a blender. Lol
It’s a soulsborne soup flavored with chunks of Pinocchio, I Robot, and Full Metal Alchemist and it’s fantastic. Finished my first run last night.

Just beat the game tonight! Max buddy you are in for a treat, I was very surprised throughout this game just by the overall quality and diversity of the environments and enemies.
If only Max sees the after credits scene to see how close he is XD

8:05 Max sometimes streams at like 1 or 2 A.M. and he ends it at like 8 A.M. in my timezone. I can literally go to sleep and wake up to Max's stream 😂

@@dannyton8478 Definitely, soulslikes generally tend to feel clunky or miss the point about what makes From games so good. This isn't the case with Lies Of P.
Neowiz knocked it out of the park and I can't wait for the teased sequel. This could become a great series.
The reviews on this game seem extremely polarized. Some say it's the best non-From soulslike they've ever played and others seem to completely hate it or think it's super mediocre
@@callumanderson6373 I wouldn't say theyre all that polarized. It's sitting on over 80% scores on aggregate websites like metacritic and opencritic which is very good. The majority of reviews are positive.
Polarizing would be 50-60% imo.

Which one is the 4th boss again? If it's the one im thinking of then yeah that one sucked. I just can't seem to find a weapon I like the most. Been using the salamander blade on the booster glaive for the longest but I'm hoping one of the boss weapons later on are good

I played the game already and wanted to see Max's reaction to how wild and GOOD the game is. About damn time
I'm taking it slow but on World 8 atm and absolutely loving it. It's crazy to think that this was made by 2 small studios collabing and one of them had only made one game before this.
Here it is!! I dumped 80 hours and 6 full playthroughs into this game in 2 weeks. Can't wait to watch Max get his ass beat by some of the late game stuff. Gonna be great.

As my first ever souls like that I’m really invested in playing from start to finish after having picked up and put down the likes of Bloodborne, Nioh 1, Dark Souls:Remastered, Dark Souls 3 and lastly Demon’s Souls PS5, I’m not sure why this one is hitting different so far and is so addictive but it is, once I looked up how to beat the “mad donkey” online and get past the sticking point that made me quit and restart the game a few times now.
I have to say making progress feels good in these games, even though I got my ass handed to me tonight by the “Scrapped Watchmen” boss at Krat City Hall, I felt myself getting his timings down to perfect parry his attack combos and things like that and every try I came closer and closer to victory.
Even though I haven’t beaten him yet, I have a feeling tomorrow or the next day I will, if I just keep at it.
Man it feels good to see myself improving in a single player game by, learning how to counterattack a boss in their recovery and all that instead of just button mashing my way to victory, all this is to say I finally believe I am understanding the appeal of these souls style games after all.
It's my first game like this too and love it have you used the star fragments on the little grete next to that boss the specter that comes to help you is a helpful hand and it works even off line

Willie Wonka can be interesting you play as Charlie walk into the closed factory and fight the kids that also broke in (from the series) as boss fights to later finish a game in a glass elevator fighting Wonka
Gosh this game was 100x better than I thought it would be. Personally overall just the combat for this game is by far my favourite in every single souls like game I have ever played. I think they perfected the feel of the combat like 9.5/10.They honestly nailed the combat. The only thing I prefer from Elden ring were the boss attack animations cause the amount of feints and slow attacks the bosses do is insane. It doesn't mix it up quickly like Elden ring. But either way combat is crazy good so this game is an easy 8 or an 8.5/10

FINALLY!!! I've been waiting on you to post this! I'm on my second playthrough of the game and the story is phenomenal! This is my personal GOTY. Max your passion and excitement watching you play the demo had me so hype for this day to watch you experience this magnificent game!
Oh thank god, as much as I would love to get the game myself, I know I barely have enough time (and money) since I'm already knee deep in other games so having Max play is the next best thing. Appreciate it, Max!

I keep laughing at the same things Max. So many little animations from Bloodborne ^^ i love it.
The text beneath the bosses adds such a bittersweet tone to the whole situation, to them they must think they're still doing what's right

It's awesome how you actually hear some of the puppet dialogue in ng+ as its gibberish in new game. Really 180s what you thought about them and the story. Bittersweet

I’ve been putting a ton of time into this! I’m a DS1 purist, and I’ve honestly been LOVING this game. Not too challenging (so far) , incredible weapon diversity, story is awesome so far, and P himself is incredibly interesting. If i have any suggestions at all it’s pay very close attention to EVERYTHING about P.
It gets quite hard in the middle IMO. Then it drops a bit again near the end.

a lot of people find the Parry window too tight but coming from fighting game I think it's fine and very satisfying to pull off. i'm on my fourth playthru
My problem isn’t that it’s tight, it’s that it’s too tight in combination with this game has a lot of elden ring style 50/50 guessing game attacks which makes pinpoint precision parrying a pipe dream for any but those with the fastest reaction times

Great game! Is it perfect? No. However, there are some issues the developers have already patched, and I hope they continue to. It’s a gorgeous game with a well written story and world. The combat is challenging yet satisfying. My favorite part is the weapon customization and the Legion Arms. Can’t wait to watch Max’s full playthrough!

I wasn't specting this game to be so damn good, its literally a masterpiece, its simple, fun, and bosses make it really hard 😂 I just loved this game. I'll be playing it for the next 3 months occasionally just for the enjoyable experience, this is the next soulslike gen 🙏🙏 (waiting for lords of the fallen too 👀)

Im definitely getting this game as soon as I have the money to get it; this and Atomic Heart have been on my must play list this year. After playing the demo of this game, I fell in love with it. Its my first soulslike game, and even though it was hella difficult, I had mad fun!

8:20 What Max says here, actually reminds me of Russian filmmaker Andre Tarkovsky, who had a similar philosophy with his movies. I know Max is joking, but Andre use to create a pacing and editing style within his very intelligent films to weed out audience members that were not going to care, and therefore, would think negatively on his films, leaving behind only those who were going to have the patience and understanding to give his movies the attention and thought they were going to deserve. His 1979 film "Stalker" is a very good example of this, and I highly recommend it to philosophical sci fi fans.

Both this and AC6 are awesome games, but Baldur's Gate 3... man oh man that Baldur's Gate 3... that's something else, that's on the level of Elden Ring for me. And CRPG isn't even my type of game.
@@None38389 I’m rooting for it lol. I know AC6 doesn’t have a shot, and I never played BG3 cause I’m on Xbox, but I think it deserves it purely on a cultural impact level. BG3 produced very similar waves in the gaming community to Elden Ring. The storm it made is just not comparable to anything else from this year.
This year is so hard. It's definitely top 5 but I don't know if I could ever choose it over BG3.

The fact that it’s just about indistinguishable from a Soulsborne game is very on-brand for Lies of P. Just like the protagonist, the game finds its own identity through imitation. Must be a tough balancing act, I’m really impressed by how well they pulled it off! Also, no. No Alice for the sequel, but Max is *close* to correct. It’s a similar fairy tale protagonist. And boy, is that game gonna be awesome.
