As a Chinese, they did a really good job dubbing Chinese, and also the translation itself. Like instead of using directly modern Chinese, the words they chose sounds more ancient (think Shakespeare compared to now)
I’m playing with the Chinese dub so that is super cool to hear
Ya the chinese VAs are really well done. Im playing it through the Chinese VAs myself. Its like the old school Wuxia movies. Im chinese myself =)
Yeah I’m playing the Chinese dub and it sounds good so far. Granted I can’t really speak mandarin at all
chinese and japanese voice actors/actresses take voice acting very seriously. I know chinese voice actors/actresses have to dub their dramas due to noise disturbance behind the scenes while actors and actresses are on set. I watched the comparison for Wo Long and the chinese dub is the best.
I pre ordered when I heard the Chinese dub lol it's really nice
The second phase of Zhang Liang really catches you off guard, since you can stagger him super easy in the first phase but can't in the second. Honestly he's the only boss that gave me much trouble.
-Lu Bu has entered the chat-
@@animefanatic777 Had almost no trouble with him. Died twice maybe. This is way easier than Nioh and most of the Souls games.
Wait till you get to Zhang Bao.
@@Kenoji8 I’ve beaten the game multiple times my dude. It’s not hard.
Zhang Liao. Fighting that guy was an ordeal.
Playing this game with the Chinese dub is like playing Ghost of Tsushima with the Japanese dub, it's a must in my opinion
I honestly play this like Dynasty Warriors in the Japanese dub. I treat a lot of this like Dynasty Warriors, to be honest, except DW with parrying, lol.
@@Kenoji8 it IS like DW but you control one character vs hordes of enemies which personally I enjoy more than controlling large squads in large scale battles
I tried playing Ghost of Tsushima with Japanese dub but the lip syncing kind of ruined it for me.
You may already know this but for anyone else reading: Wizardry costs spirit not morale. Your fortitude, which determines the lowest your morale can be, was 9 but due to getting kills and such your morale raised to 10. Getting hit a bunch by Zhang Liang lowered your morale to 9 before you used the fire balls.
Another thing that a lot of ppl seem to miss is that all spells have a minimun amount of morale required in order to use them
@@pixlman Thank you for that I was wondering why some of my spells sometimes are greyed out.
@@HorizonMatter yeah. You need to be careful cause they can put you in posture that will be instantly broken if spammed
My standing rank system for all games is how many "cool"'s Max gives during the tutorial.
Love watching max play rpgs, watched all of nioh and dark souls and Eldin ring🤝🏾
As someone who just fought Lu Bu and finally beat him... Yes, this game is Nioh and Sekiro as one!
I can’t believe I was worried they would make him too easy. At least I was wrong I guess. Very, very wrong
Yeah. No, he was the first wall I hit that took me a bit to beat alone. Great fight! Only managed to help 1! Other person beat him. 🥲🤣
I don't know where people keep getting the Nioh shit, or even kinda the Sekiro. If anything its alot more like Ninja Gaiden than anything.. The only "Sekiro" like thing about it is the posture bar and there have been zero bosses or enemies that require a rhythm like Sekiro did.
@@lutherheggs451 Same people made them, and there is rhythm, take fighting tigers when they do their flurry of claw attacks, or Lu Bu when he does that long Combo Spin AOE attack. If you got the timing and rhythm, you can parry ALL of it. Not joke. I did it. On accident.
This is nothing like Nioh or Sekiro lol
I hope one day they can do a game based on Qin Shi Huang story. It fits the team ninja style and story elements perfectly considering, emperor Qin is obsessed with immortality and finding elixir.
I just realized the last 2 male CC presets are pretty much William and vanilla Hide
Any chance this is the same world as Nioh?
@@manbat4582 It could be but Wo Long takes place centuries before when the Nioh games take place so neither William nor Hide would have been around
they were literally on purpose William and the Nioh 2 default character.
Why am I a grown man who feels good knowing Max doesn't judge me for stupid reasons. Iykyk❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥
Really glad Max is having fun with this one.
I've been enjoying Wo Long and was looking forward to watching Max and Aris (avoidingthepuddle) play; my two favorite streamers. I was so disappointed that Aris wasn't in the right mindset or something and dropped the game nearly immediately (he came into Wo Long already ready to hate it).
Always glad that Max is willing to give every game a fair shot, allowing it a chance to stand on its own merits, instead of being "I don't like x because it's not y, so this game sucks".
I love Sekiro combat, and I love the Nioh formula. Wo Long takes from both, ends up quite different in the end, but it's cool once you get into it.
idk the other person you mentioned you wanted to watch, but to be fair the performance issues alone could push people to at least wait awhile to even bother checking it out. Never fun when people go in wanting to hate something though hope they give it a fair shot later on
Hey alright.
@@deadhelix Performance issues? I play on PS5 and havent really run into anything
Aris hates most games
@@gerettdiamond well that’s why. It’s a pretty shitty port for PC.
If you ever encounter Lu Bu, run away.
seeing how they added a companion support like Code Vein has I may give this a shot on Game Pass
And you can also dismiss the companion at anytime if you feel like they’re getting in the way or holding your hand. I like that option 😄
This is what made me interested in the game as well, might fill my desire for a difficult game with 'pawn system' before Dragon's Dogma 2 is fully shown. Also makes exploring a demon infested China less lonely. lol
The kendo staff is even easier to parry with
I like the Three Kingdoms setting, and I got the demo of this, but it’s been a while since I played a soulslike game.
"51 seconds ago"? Feels illegal to be this early.
It is. You are under arrest
54:28 his cultivation level has reached the heavenly realm!!!
Just to comment, especially as a fan of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel and the Dynasty Warriors games, Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja nailed this game so damn well. I just think of this game as a fantasy-based "Dark Souls meets Dynasty Warriors" hybrid and I LOVE seeing a somewhat new perspective on established DW characters in a new setting. Also seeing events like the Battle of Hu Lao Gate and the Yellow Turban Rebellion in new ways really refreshes the Dynasty Warriors format that I've seen time and time again in different Koei / Omega Force games. And the combat here is sublime and I love that you can PARRY EVERYTHING and not have to just avoid unblockable attacks! That makes this game WAY better than a lot of other Souls-like games. Absolutely love this game and the difficulty presented because there's always a way to win if you parry effectively! And even though this is a Chinese-based game, I play this like Dynasty Warriors -- with Japanese dubbing. I feel so in my element that way.
best thing to do is wait til they glow red parry them and knock them into a state of stun then go for crit blow, works everytime.
I think a good way to explain the game's core mechanic to people is definitely a combination of Sekiro and Nioh, but in an interesting way. Because it obviously has Nioh's core combat, but it also feels like if in Sekiro instead of the "deflecting" mechanic, the main mechanic was the Mikiri Counter.
Nioh a combat was way better than this
@@SubiKinubi this game feels more fun tho.
@@yamomspotatosalad818 tbh it’s really just a hack and slash, the combat is very shallow and that’s good for fun, niohs was way more than imo as it could be changed in so many ways
LOL Max even got the death blow on the tiger and the tiger just went buck nuts. I didn't even kill this tiger. But the next mid boss i killed him. I think it was like an ogre.
Yeah the deathblow takes him down to half HP it didn't help that Max's morale was 3 Vs the 16 or whatever the tiger had.
@Fallen Program I mean, he is a person who plays fighting games primarily.
Thumbnail looks like a blonde haired Venom Snake
Yeah he looks like a fusion of the boss and big boss lmaooo
I can safely say that spells don't use moral but adds to your stun meter. Your moral is how strong you are compared to who you fight.
correct, spells cost large sections of the Spirit gauge which is essentially the stun and stamina gauge of this game. The only thing morale has to do with spells is that each spell has a minimum morale value you need to be able to cast the spell
They are all parryable! Infact it's in the players best interest to parry! I also found it easy to find my way through the maze. If u learn to parry all shots u will destroy the enemies much quicker!
Yeah parrying is a major focus. I havnt tried a full magic build but I found parrying will get you though 99%. I love you can parry projectile stuff as well.
Parrying is a BIG thing in this, especially the unblockables. You parry an enemy's unblockables and they are thrown completely off, and then you have a hightened chance to do a "Fatal Strike" on them and almost kill them right away. It is SO satisfying to do the Fatal Strike and end them immediately.
I think the way he whistled at The end was exactly like dynasty warriors
Been avoiding any news on this game but seeing the names and instantly reminded of dynasty warriors series made me way more interested. Grew up playing those.
It's based on same mythos. The intro to this is litterally the yellow turban rebellion
this is my first souls like game and it’s so fun and addictive i am on like the 3rd area it’s so addictive tho i’m learning but it’s fun
There’s a lot of them you should try, a lot of classic souls games and soulslikes
What systems do you own? You have many great games to be played
The ones from Fromsoftware are more polished , but these Tecmo games always seem to make decent filler if you're desperate for something new while waiting for the next Miyazaki game. I always found the UI in the Tecmo games made me want to die.
@@Saiyan0805 i own ps5 and series x
@@omarsabeur9039 i really wanted to get into them but was worried about the difficulty turning me off this has shown me that even tho it’s difficult the One more try attitude is very addictive and i love it
Everyone has super armor and unblockable attacks they spam, which you gotta parry. Rage comes with this territory for me.
33:30 “NOOO KITTY!! My pot pie, BAAAD KITTY” 😂
People who say Nioh should have less loot clearly haven't played past Way of the Samurai...
Nioh should have better loot or a better interface for interacting with worse loot IMO.
Lol it can be a bit much in DotN and on because grace/rarity inheritance enables a ton of pieces to become BiS making item auditing very tedious after a bit
@Kojin there's a way to make it so you only pick up certain rarities
They can both be considered too much
It's not even bad. People who dont want to take the time to actually understand the system say its too much.
Dragon cure pot is a funny name for estus flask lol.
Estus flask is a funny name for healing potion.
Max always seems like a 2 year old trying to navigate. Lol. Love watching him though.
We getting zhang Liao in this game? He’s my favorite general in TK
yes hes in
I was the one that told Max to play Wo long.. splat facts
I'm very pleased Max knows about Fairly Odd Parents 👍🏾
This game looks great and Taoist in black needs to be careful licking his lips like that, Max is a married man
Chinese games are getting more attention now and i'm so happy about that. I love the Chinese culture just like i love the Japanese, so I’m really excited to see more Chinese games in the upcoming years.
It's a japanese game though, but I agree with you.
You mean Chinese themed right? Cuz the devs are japanese
I hope Black Myth Wukong delivers whenever its released, so far its looking pretty damn promising
@@Noreillay really? I didn’t know the devs are Japanese. But the game is about Chinese Culture if i'm not mistaken. Even if i'm wrong i saw other games with a Chinese themes and culture.

This is just going to result in hours of screaming in anger for me as my eyes suck so badly i can barely see whats happening. So all in all a good time
Yeah , it has that Tecmo thing in it...
I had that problem with the first boss. For some reason my eyes could not focus on my character and instead aimlessly looking somewhere else.
Also that was a violation 😂 3:00
just finished the main story on Rising Dragon difficulty. I can safely say that if you think this game is hard in its base form you're gonna have a really bad time in NG+.
WIZARDRY SPELLS COST SPIRIT, NOT MODALE. SOMEBODY PLS TELL HIM.
Edit: Also, R1+circle is a combo extender that switches your weapon if you do it mid combo
r1+circle is also a counter, as well. Good way to get quicker damage vs parrying and swapping the weapon. Also seems to have s on the full animation.
I'm sure you've already started the full game on PC but you might wanna play it on PS5 or Xbox I've not had any issues on ps5 with stuttering.
Happy max enjoying wo long
Even the person With Lu Bu's Intellect and Zhuge Liang's strength can finish this game quite easily
@@alienated8113 its actually really easy

People talking nonsense. Magic doesn't take away from your morale it costs spirit getting hit by certain attacks will reduce your morale though.
As a PS4 player who's been playing since the beta, it's looking hella smooth. Dunno about PC tho
¿How stable is the framerate currently with the update 1.04?

oh hell yeah he did, zhao yun treat his horse like a bike! just like masamune from sengoku basara! it would not suprise me all if dual wield two spear to use them as sharp turns
I find it funny that you complained about the "Nioh level design" when all that happened was you did a 180, ran back to the start, and then ran in circles for like 10 minutes because you forgot which way you went originally.
Especially when you, correctly, pointed out that the red arrow is the rightt direction.
If anything, Nioh 2's level design beats the _shit_ out of this game. This game does have some neat maps, but they're all basically just forts. At least in Nioh 2 you had some variety. It's like Max didn't even play that game - even though I know he did.
@@_Digishade_ it does not. I have replayed Nioh 2 recently and Wo Long´s level design is a significant step up in terms of visuals, size and structure.
@@silviuchertes9464 Thank you. Getting really tired of hearing how it looks "just as bad" or "worse".
Looks great. Definitely need to play this.
Yeah you should 👍
@@vTensai1 looking forward to checking it out 👍👍
(Edit: I just realized this is from the demo oops) I wish max would've played the 2nd demo so he was ready for this game I've never seen someone flail this hard learning the mechanics. Also im halfway through the game and I just learned thanks to this video that you can guard. I've never used it once.
I was really digging my time with the demo. I was annoyed that I had to reteach myself that block wasn't also parry/deflect and was mapped to dodge so I kept rolling around the place. Lol
Makes me want to play Sekiro again
I really regret not getting the console version. Wo Long on PC has probably the worst performance of any game I have played this year so far. I built a 4090, 13700K, and 32gb 6000mhz system late last year because of all the huge games coming out in 2023 and it has not paid off at all.
We all now 4090s are made for Morrowind RTX only lul jk
the state of PC gaming at the moment is as bad as i can remember, 90% of games are a poorly optimised mess. I have a 3080 and it feels like my GPU is ancient with how i can't even hit 60fps with DLSS on in most games. Almost like they are trying to push us to console for some reason.
@@nick4810 yup, remember when 1080 ti would just not die and look at the 3080, that is ancient already.
@@yrh002b8 What reality do you live in where a 3080 is 'ancient'? lol

I love watching max play seeing as he is definitely better than me. However the fact that he keeps getting lost like he has the memory of an goldfish can be a little annoying. Because finding the way isn't near as difficult as he makes out to be even with "nioh" level design.
I’ve noticed that I play worse and forget things a lot when I stream games for my friends on Discord, because I’m constantly busy making it entertaining for them or talking. I’m assuming it’s even harder for streamers who not only have to entertain literal thousands, but also make sure they don’t blur dumb thing because they’re constantly under microscope.
Just food for thought, nothing more.
@@TheNameCannotBeFound "but also make sure they don’t blur dumb thing because they’re constantly under microscope." This is why if you plan to be a streamer, Don't fake shit about yourself. Be yourself and you wont have as much to keep track of which leads to less burn out
The parry is this game makes fighting bosses easy
I want to play this but I'm currently terrified due to it exploding GPUs basically. I'll have to wait for an optimization patch.
Optimization patch? for koei tecmo game?
Which is especially weird, since the graphics make it look like an early PS4 game
Had the same fear so I subscribed to game pass ultimate to play it via cloud, and it is incredibly good.
Exploding gpus how? I'm playing It fine at 4k with nearly everything maxed and haven't run into too many issues. Some frame drops here and there, but at 4k near max on a 3090 ti, is acceptable to me.

That's not as fun and feels cheap. He does do it the second time though
@@crazyape515It's cheap to use the story mechanics in a story boss fight?
Soulslike games are a double-edged sword for me: They're well made, combat is fun and fluid, and weapons and armor are cool to experiment with........but I just fucking suck at them. Hell, I have the demo downloaded and Zhang is kicking my ass until I discovered I can actually block his attacks
So i'm currently like an hour into watching Max's playthrough, and I just realized Max's character doesnt even look like him... It looks like Snake.... 😂
I initially thought it was a scripted defeat on that first boss, then I thought I missed something important (the circle+triangle tutorial), but while looking it up, and later confirming it though playing later levels, they made the first boss the hardest in the first half of the game as a hard wall towards people they don't want playing the game
They made him harder to teach people to interact with the parry system.
If you parry well he's a joke. And on the story playthrough will go down instantly if you summon your divine beast.
Had nothing to do with stopping people from playing the game. I highly doubt they want to issue refunds.
Im playing it on Xbox Series X and it's fantastic

@Androjde Makaveli I've played and beaten it and got all 4 endings. I also beat the demon of hatred. It has parrying which is a major focus of the game. Magic (which I treat like Shinobi tools).
