That part in the beginning where Chai struggles at putting on one of his shoes is the most relatable thing I’ve ever seen and it’s in like the first 2 minutes of the game
Eh, I felt they could’ve done more to play him up, like maybe have him be a goon to Kale or be somewhat present throughout the game so meeting him is a bigger thing but the reveal was pretty cool.

I just realized at 1:06:53 that the text announcement in the background is literally warning people about changing passwords, and at the end of the game we see that Korsica had her password as 'Password' the whole time. Korsica is the best but man she's a little clueless at times with her position in the company. Love a lot of the little nods to later plot points/details! Also this game was an absolute blast to play through on my own time, even the achievements feel like something I can accomplish with a bit of time and effort, so I definitely want to get as much out of the game as I can!
It's crazy to watch back and realize that Kale unintentionally created his demise by throwing away a stranger's belongings. The lesson here is to just leave stuff to itself LOL
Y'know, coming into this I expected Shen to be horny for certain characters, but I didn't expect her to also be horny for the *gameplay*. I'm sure the developers would be flattered.
There's a game kind of like this that came out a few years earlier by name of No Straight Roads, by a smaller company called Metronomik. Was their debut game, quite short and with a focus on bosses'that attack in rhythm with the music-- different parts of the track corresponding to different attacks. I've seen people mention that "Hi-Fi Rush is what NSR should have been", but it's still worth checking out, to respect and criticize it on its own merits and shortcomings. For if you are interested in uniquely-styled worlds, fun characters, and an ABSOLUTE HAMMERING LOVE FOR MUSIC, i recommend to look up No Straight Roads. Be it to play or to watch, and especially to listen. If Hi-Fi Rush is about the rhytm, No Straight Roads is about music itself, why people perform and make it, and the industry behind it. Every boss represents a different genre, and every boss *theme* has at least three version: Base, EDM and Rock. Depending on how well or how badly you do in a fight, the soundtrack actively shifts between EDM and Rock. And ever since the free Christmas DLC with Christmas covers, and the Encore Edition release with a new Remix, there's at least *five* versions of every boss theme. As a random NSR fan on the internet, i hope it may be interesting to you, and others that you may tell about it.

1:04:33 One of my favorite cutscenes ever. By the way, for anyone confused, Reciprocity has less to do with acknowledging Chai's successful planning, and more the act of rescuing him after he rescued the gang earlier. You can think of it as "returning the favor in a way that benefits both parties involved." They all benefit from rescuing Chai since he is the guy who beats up the robots. I spent half an hour researching what Reciprocity meant to bring you this clarity. Some likes on my comment would be nice. OOooh! Bonus. I'm 30 and I didn't know this until today. An APB means All Points Bulletin. Basically, All hands on deck, but in security lingo. She's even asking the janitors to watch out for him at this point, which, hilariously, in the next scene, they're shown to be absolutely useless at even identifying him. I just love that.
the little on beat pulse of Shens fuckin COMMENTARY SUBTITLES is AMAZING. Like seriously this whole video (and the streams it comes from) are AWESOME. I loved this whole ride.
Damn it Shen, I think you're about to make me discover one of my new favorite games _again._ First OMORI (which thank you for not finishing on the main channel btw so I would feel the need to play it myself), now this sick-ass rhythm-based beat-em-up? Your taste is too impeccable.
“I hear Robbie already IMMEDIATELY!” That was also me when I was starting this game. I just beat it last night and it’s now considered one of my favorite games. Robbie Daymond does so good as Chai and the gameplay is awesome!
I thank Hi Fi Rush for introducing to Whirring by The Joy Formidable because it is quite literally my new 2nd favorite song (also the level that it accompanies is the prime definition of beautiful)
This game is the absolute best! I love all of it! All the characters! The music! It’s so good!!!! And the reactions of shen just gushing over chai is amazing. The subtitles to the beat are also a lovely touch
I was told this game was good but this is just mind-blowing. It's like the combined feelings of playing an awesome game and watching a super entertaining animation show.
This video is legitimately what made me decide to buy this game. I just finished it last night. It is now up there as one of my favourite games of all time
Apparently, a South Korean studio called Krafton bought them, rehired who they could from the old team (some of them had already found new work), and they are apparently working on a sequel now!
I find it so crazy that THE EVIL WITHIN DEVS not only made one of the best stylish action games I've ever played, but were so confident in how good it was that they kept it hidden for 5 GODDAMN YEARS just to drop it on us outta nowhere!
We are here to celebrate the loving memory of hi-rush a beloved title, shadow dropped in the midst of popular titles like Elden Rings, and another god damn Ubisoft bowel movement like assass creed or something. While it wasnt beloved by the corporate executives looking to overly exploit a niche original concept of an an IP, it was cherished and adored by millions. It was enough to garner the attention of studios big and small; as a little reminder that while such a spark may have come and gone, that spark will forever have left its mark, and cannot be erased from it's impact it left. Indeed, one can say it was a Rush of high fidelity. May we all remember that just like Chai, theres a little music rhythm in all of us. May we all dance to that beat of rhythms in this song of life.
All of this game's gorgeous detail has me foaming at the mouth with just how perfect it is. Pair that with Shen's usual fun personality, and my friend that's one heck of a combination!
I distinctly remember seeing the first 20 seconds of the trailer on the steam store, pausing it, and buying it right there. My smile hasent faded since then. This game is filled with so much love and charm god it’s amazing
Literally was binging the vods waiting for the edited highlights and now they’re here! With this and Crystaahhl uploading her Hi Fi Rush Vods I’m going to have a good weekend
This stream has the chaotic energy of the game, great job on this Also the thumbnail totally doesn't look like a certain character with bushy blond hair and a robot arm from a certain web series
I love the art style, I love how it switches between 2d and 3d and you can tell, but it doesn't take you out of it, it reminds me of that show slug Terra but more vibrant and more charm
1:14:50 I love how Chai says sorry to the blue robot cause they've just been chill the whole time 😂 he even makes a concerted effort in midair to dodge him and spends the time looking back to say it.
Loved watching the streams for this game, Shen pausing every ten minutes to fish about how amazing it is. And then her reactions to the second to last boss and the ending was absolutely incredible.
As somebody who also played HI-Fi Rush and called it perfect, every reaction you gave was the exact same I had, I was smiling ear to ear watching all of this.

Hearing Shen GENUINELY HAVE A GOOD TIME with this game was such an absolute joy to witness! Genuinely tempting to pick it up!
Little detail I liked was that Chai apologized to the maintenance bot when he was thrown into them at 1:14:49
No others, just that poor guy haha
the little on beat pulse of Shens fuckin COMMENTARY SUBTITLES is AMAZING. Like seriously this whole video (and the streams it comes from) are AWESOME. I loved this whole ride.
808 is just such a adorably chunky kitty, she steals my attention everytime I watch someone play this game.
This game was a god damn pleasure to play. THIS is what the gaming scene needs!
Also your reactions are adorable and very relatable xD
Seeing them be so excited is the best thing ever, like a kid in a candy shop
This game is honestly an experience I’ll never forget. Your reactions to it on stream were absolutely hillarious!
Damn it Shen, I think you're about to make me discover one of my new favorite games _again._ First OMORI (which thank you for not finishing on the main channel btw so I would feel the need to play it myself), now this sick-ass rhythm-based beat-em-up? Your taste is too impeccable.
“I hear Robbie already IMMEDIATELY!”
That was also me when I was starting this game.
"Twinks don't work like yo-yos" is the best line
This game is the absolute best! I love all of it! All the characters! The music! It’s so good!!!! And the reactions of shen just gushing over chai is amazing. The subtitles to the beat are also a lovely touch
Glad to see how much fun your having! Also i love how the editors have a 'beating" outline on all of Shen's subtitiles!
I was told this game was good but this is just mind-blowing.
It's like the combined feelings of playing an awesome game and watching a super entertaining animation show.
The art style (and especially the cutscenes) give me hugely refined and rock-inspired Sly Cooper vibes, I love it!
This video is legitimately what made me decide to buy this game. I just finished it last night. It is now up there as one of my favourite games of all time
And now we won't get another 😭😭
Edit: The beat goes on
@@jacobporter419 I was legitimately so furious when I found out
Apparently, a South Korean studio called Krafton bought them, rehired who they could from the old team (some of them had already found new work), and they are apparently working on a sequel now!
@@AllegedlyHuman I heard about it a week ago! An actual miracle
IT GIVES SUCH LIKE- slugterra/really stylized 2001 cartoon energy I love it so much!
The animated fight scenes to the beat are EVERYTHING. IT'S JUST. AH!
I find it so crazy that THE EVIL WITHIN DEVS not only made one of the best stylish action games I've ever played, but were so confident in how good it was that they kept it hidden for 5 GODDAMN YEARS just to drop it on us outta nowhere!
I came back just to watch this after microsoft shut down the studio who made hi-fi rush...gone but never forgotten
I love the editing. I died on the DBZ dash followed by TF2 Scout BONK when you learned to magnet an enemy
Gets hit through a ton of walls and a ton of floor
Chai: No reaction
Stubs toe
Chai: ouchie ouch
Relatable
Chai's endurance is comedy-based. He's hurt by whatever is funny.
@@lukeroberson2115 Looney tunes ah MC
This feels like watching an interactive cartoon and god damn it I’m all for it.
RIP Tango Gameworks ;~;7
Having the subtitles also pulse to the beat is such a good touch, fantastic video and fantastic game. Props to the editor. ❤
You are so fun to watch! And I absolutely loved playing this game when it came out! Definitely a contender for Game of the Year for me!
Pair that with Shen's usual fun personality, and my friend that's one heck of a combination!
please let there be a part 2. I enjoyed playing this game, and watching Shen experiencing it is such a good time!
Love the little edits whenever shen does a goof, adds extra spice to the video (PS: Chai would def fuck to the beat of music frfr)
chai doesn't even know what sex is
Friendly reminder this is the same studio that made The Evil Within. Love a bit of diverse projects from the same studio.
Nobody can say you are wrong, because everything in this game is designed to make you happy and nothing more which is something a video game needs
The haiku at 1:11:15 says “aah depression, tomorrow is Monday, I don’t want to go.”
One of the most genuinely FUN releases in years, I love this game so much
57:00 ok he was doing the JoJo torture dance right I’m not the only one who saw it
One of the few channels that can get a laugh out of me nowadays, it's really appreciated. Keep up the great work!
I distinctly remember seeing the first 20 seconds of the trailer on the steam store, pausing it, and buying it right there. My smile hasent faded since then. This game is filled with so much love and charm god it’s amazing
I am OBSESSED about how EVERYTHING is ON BEAT. As a music lover it is SHAKING ME to my GOD-DAMNED CORE
Interesting note, everything BUT the intro cutscene before he gets the arm. Which I think is an amazing attention to detail.
Literally was binging the vods waiting for the edited highlights and now they’re here! With this and Crystaahhl uploading her Hi Fi Rush Vods I’m going to have a good weekend
This stream has the chaotic energy of the game, great job on this
Also the thumbnail totally doesn't look like a certain character with bushy blond hair and a robot arm from a certain web series
13:28 reminds me of that Japanese guy running down the street and screaming...
36:15 when he does the keyblade thing, if youre playing on PC theres a mod on nexus to change the guitar to a keyblade. Works in cutscenes too
DAMM YOU MICROSOFT,WHY DID YOU CLOSE TANGO?! WHYYYY
Well… DO I HAVE GOOD NEWS FOR YOU
As somebody who also played HI-Fi Rush and called it perfect, every reaction you gave was the exact same I had, I was smiling ear to ear watching all of this.
I’m only 8 minutes into the video, and I’m gonna have to wait to watch the rest of this because oh my god I wanna experience this firsthand.
For a Bethesda game, this is a very big change in direction that nobody expected
I thought Kale sounded similar to Sonic. Then I realized, his voice actor was Roger Craig Smith, the same VA as sonic.
I watched the vods for this whole working
And I LOVE the way you said you wanna put chai in a blender
I don't know why but it's SO ACCURATE
