Na, mine dont touch the shrimp. I have alot of baby shrimps too, they all eat algae wafers together. Amano shrimps are pretty big, sounds like no issues
yup! these two work wonders for me. My pest snails are are a really low level now. before I would see them in my display tank and all over my sump, but now i only see a couple here and there and the loaches are still running around my sump hunting them lol
@@BryanLaI bet.. none of the LFS in my area sell them. They only have yoyo and kuhli loaches.. but yoyo is too big. These dwarf chain loaches are only 2.5 inches the perfect size for my 10 gallon.
They didn't eliminate all of the snails, but they reduced the snails significantly. I probably need to go in and remove them manually in the future, but for now it's a good source for the loaches.
@@BryanLa I have a ramshorn snail issue. Problem is I don’t know if the dwarf chains will be a problem for my other fish. 2 albino corys, 2 black devil snails which are huge, and my armoured shrink which is couple of inches big. What do you reckon ?
Dwarf chains would probably chill with your corydoras. If I were you, I'd try manual traps first. If that doesn't work I would try assassin snails, then last option would be the dwarf chains.
Hi, mine don't eat my larger snails, like my nerites, so I think mystery snails will be safe since they're so big. And these are a tad bigger than khuli loaches. Khuli loaches are long and skinny compared to these chain loaches
@@user-me6ld9fo3t dont know abt u but my experience they could be in community tanks no problem i have 3 in a 20 gallon with tetras ,corys and otos no problem
If applicable, a composter will be great for your throw away plants. Therefore, the plants won’t die in vain. You probably know this already, but just in case you don’t… Nice video
I would think so. My loaches ate almost all of my pest snails and left my nerite snails alone. If the Malaysian trumpet snails are too big i don't think they'll go for it.
Assassin snails live in the substrate & that's why you never see them & they eat all the snails in the substrate. They come out once in a while but live under the substrate. They do a fantastic job eating small nuisance snails. Do some research on them.
I got a snail problem to, planning on getting them. Thank you for sharing a video on how good they are with getting rid off snails.
They're so good, the tank ran out of snails to feed them 😂... the best part is they ignore my nerite snails and only eat pest snails for some reason
@@BryanLa hey, did they eat the shrimp? I have pest snails right now but also have 5 amano shrimp I want to keep

@Bryan La so 2 years later did they stay doing well together?
Super cool video im new to aquariums and stuff so all ur tanks look so nice and cool
Thanks for watching Cesar! And welcome to the best hobby ever!
I need these guys.. got a bunch of pest snails.

Ahh I see, yea they’re way more manageable cause they’re dwarf. My LFS get them sometimes but I’d say it isn’t as available for me either
I need an update, did they take care of the snails ?
They didn't eliminate all of the snails, but they reduced the snails significantly. I probably need to go in and remove them manually in the future, but for now it's a good source for the loaches.
So what did you do with chain loaches after your snail problem was eradicated?
They're still in there, the whole sump is literally just them 2.

What kinda snails do you have? Would they get rid of mts?
So amazing to see your goldfish better. Great video though 💯💯💯💯
Thank you! And yea my goldfish is good for now. Its weird, some days its good and some days it floats. But oh well, progress is progress haha
Do they eat mystery snail? And are they around the same size as kuhli loaches?
Hi, mine don't eat my larger snails, like my nerites, so I think mystery snails will be safe since they're so big. And these are a tad bigger than khuli loaches. Khuli loaches are long and skinny compared to these chain loaches
@@BryanLa in your experience, do kuhli loaches eat pest snails? Most sources I've come across say they dont.
Did they kill any shrimp ? I've snails problem in my shrimp tank... like hundreds of baby snails ...
They definitely can, I have a lot of baby shrimps and I didn’t notice a population decrease with these two loaches
Thanks for the info's for this. For Shrimps fire red Cherry Shrimps and other shrimps.
Another great option and cheaper are dwarf pea puffers. They're about 4 bucks each.
Man they were my first option but I couldent find them at my LFS the day I got these
You can’t put them in with other fish
@@user-me6ld9fo3t dont know abt u but my experience they could be in community tanks no problem i have 3 in a 20 gallon with tetras ,corys and otos no problem
4 bucks 😵💫 they're like 100 dollars plus in Australia
I put pea puffers in my community tank they eat all my snails then they eat all my panda corydoras

Yup! I used to have one but ended up not using it anymore cause it attracted hella bugs
Do dwarf chain loaches eat Baby Malaysian Trumpet Nails? I need to get rid of the infestation problem I have.

No problem! Hope your snail infestation gets solved one way or another 😁

Yo yo loaches are also great for controlling snails and they are about $5.00 a piece.
But they get pretty big though compared to the dwarf loaches.
yup! I think all loaches are snail killers, but I've definitely been recommended the yoyo loach a bunch of times 😁
and yea, My dwarf loaches work perfectly for this setup because of their size
Flourish Excel kills snails add it every 2 or 3 days a week
Ahh good to know, thanks!
