@aquascaping Cube : mayasian trumpet snails are the worst invaders.. they also burrow in the substrate I sometimes in the middle of the night turn the lights on and they are all over the glass… can get 100s of snails in mins.
@@AquascapingCube very true my friend! So I have went to the assassin snails 🐌 to help it’s just them, nothing else In Danger. I think I need more than the 3 assassins I bought😂
Those snail catcher you slide up the aquarium glass are amazing you roll it up slowly and allow them to be rolled into the trap, saves a lot of time and far more caught.
This is another great video matt, I manually removed my snails as have a lot now I only brought 4 now I have about 100 so I guess I am really overfeeding the tank, so I will slow down on this. Thanks again for all the great info have a fabulous day :)
I got a pea puffer in my tank, he takes care of them over populating. Used to clean my tank for snail every weekend and now I can see no more than 6 to 10 around but I see shells on the floor. They feed the fish and he keeps them under controlled
I really like your videos because of the way you explain things. I can understand everything you say. I hope you stick with it and that your channel grows!
Thank you very much for your comment! I appreciate that! Yes, I'm planning to stick with it and have tons of ideas for new videos. Comments like this one keep me going :)
At first I let them stay, and then they were a solid indication that I was overfeeding and tank cleaning was lacking. I've successfully removed hundreds over the last weeks and the population has declined with more regular cleanings and reasonable feedings. I will have to try the lettuce and cucumber, but they all go for the algae wafters I feed my shrimp and mystery snails with, so they seems to attract a ton over to an easily accessible side of the tank. I'll also have to try the tweezers. I've been using a shrimp net to knock them off and catch them as they float.
I'd be interested to know too as we've been putting them in the garden (I do feel cruel that they just die in the garden - but we have hundreds of them in our tanks at the moment)
100 snails😳I was worried when I just found 1 just a moment ago and had to look up how to get rid of them and came across your channel 😁Very helpful vid👍subscribed😁
Great video explaining what to do, Yes like snails, Brought plant like other plants didn't wash it first now got lots snails out of tank , Doing what you said cucumber great for catching them, Will keep the ones I want get rid of other ones. They are fascinating to watch. Wash plants in future definitely thanks again was very helpful.
I like my bladder snails because they do ana amazing job at cleaning the tank. But the breed crazy fast. I purchased 1 single Assassin snail which attacks my snails at a rate that my bladder snails dont get completely all killed. So i have a small population of bladder snails and my tank stays clean and i have a super cool looking assassin snail.
I was so happy to see your video. Some people are wondering what to do with them so I decided to say where I've gotten to on that. I have a 10G tank with some young Assassin snails. They need to eat too! When I was a kid a few decades ago I was inundated with nuisance snails after buying one snail [must have been a pond snail], nothing else available 50 years ago to a young teen. I was never was able to get rid of them until I took down the tank for a move and didn't re-stock. I'm back into having aquariums now and learned about Assassin Snails. I wasn't going to get any but it turned out I needed them after all. Bought some plants and now have nuisance snails in all tanks. I was feeling very overwhelmed until I realized the simple solution. Makes me squirmy to do it but I've learned it's called the circle of life ;-) THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO!, I appreciated it very much 🙂
Well, it''s true. They do need to eat :) Even fish - they eat other fish all the time in nature. I'm planning to make a video about Assassin snails in the future, I'm just gathering materials for it right now :)
After removing snails, what should I do with them ? I can't release them in wild can I ? I also don't want to kill them. Why don't platies or guppies eat the snail eags ? Will it be good idea to put extra shrimps ( I like shrimps) which can act as competition as algae eater to snails ?
Love my snails. They're my sump workers. Though I decided to get some pea puffers in case I want to turn snails into more fish or fertilizer for my plants which turn into more snails by filtration into the sump and I place clippings in there when I trim my planted tank. It's fantastic!
Great…..I’m in the middle of doing a fishless cycle that involves adding fish food to spark up an ammonia spike. My tank has a bunch of old food sitting on the substrate and I just plucked 4 baby bladder snails that were climbing on the glass. No ammonia spike yet but hopefully they won’t last through one if it happens.
Another good fish that’s available to control pest snail are barbs, I used Six banded Barb in my tank they will go for the snails when they are hungry, you can use also cherry barb, snakeskin barb, Sumatra barb or golden barb

Bladder snails do look ugly when they go out of hand, but they keep your aquarium healthy...just control their population but don't remove them..they are the MOST EFFICIENT tank cleaners I know because they clean the glass evenly - not in patches...just set a snail trap every now and then to control them.
Heres a tip. Buy a goldfish. Goldfish will gobble up all the snails you have. Leave it in there for about 2weeks. Snail eggs might be present, but once hatched the goldfish will get em all. More time if needed. Once all snails are gone give goldfish to a fish store. Big chains stores most likely won’t take them.
Goldfish “may” eat them, I had one to attempt this, he didn’t care at all about snails. Yo-yo’s do a better job or a pea puffer. Also assassin snails also will absolutely hunt and kill them.
@@iceblood16 I'm using assassin snails, leaving the empty husk for my shrimp to devour lmao. put 3 in 60L tank filled with 3 nerites, they never bothered them, probably because of the yummy ramshorns.

Really?!?😅 Better check on clown loach size first though (8-12 inches /20-30 centimeters! ) and you are supposed to keep them in groups of 5 minimum. Great solution if you have a swimming pool as a fish tank, - thanks for the advise 😂
@inessazhukova8592 You can think that then. We had 2 clown loaches that used to fight all the time. They didnt get along at all and seemed to enjoy their own space. One of them died due to disease but the other was perfectly healthy. Ours never grew close to that size when kept in an aquarium and we had them for about 5 years. Also my auntie has also kept a tonne of clown loaches over the years in an aquarium and none of them EVER grew to that size. I think it depends on the size of the aquarium, pond etc where they're kept.

Put them in salt water

In that case you need aquarium just for them. Or try to sell them. Peapuffer owners often buy pond snails.

I love the little snails.
they honestly look good for nano aquariums, but too much can be bad, they can clean small corners very well and leaves
Very true! The problem is the speed of reproduction, not the snail itself.

Fingers crossed that it doesn't change into full invasion :| Good luck!
Thanks you sir for the good video 👍🏽
You are very welcome
what are the big floating plants called?
Super a jak w terrarium zapobiec ?
Pond vs bladder snails
Pond have triangle antennas shell to the right
Bladder thin antennas and shell to the left
What are the floating plants in your video? Also, what is the white stone-like substrate that you are using? I like the translucent look.
Good solution sir
Thanks!
What is the name of the floater plants you have?
It was Limnobium spongia
Vege traps? I'm testing this today! :D
Haha cool! Let us know how it went!
Should the lettuce be fresh or blanched?
I let it soak in boiling water for few minutes. It makes it sink much easier and is generally safer for fish.
@@AquascapingCube I'll try. Thank you a lot!
Where do you give up the snails? Or should they be killed?
Seems nobody wants to address THIS question.
I give them away to the people that have clown loaches. So they basically become food for them :P
Hey nice video.Keep doing more
What is Name of the snail that invaded?
Thanks! It was probably Bladder snail (Physa acuta)

Ok but what do you do with them?
I give them to a friend that gives them to Clown Loaches. It's good option because he sometimes has a problem with food for those guys :P
thank you for all the great info, 1 question though, is the cucumber raw or did you blanch (boil for a few minutes) first?
I was rinsing it in boiling water for few minutes. This way it will not float on the surface :)

I don't mind them nut then they move around their slimes make the aquarium glass dirty
