When I was a Jehovah’s Witness it was this type of scriptural reasoning that started the awakening process and led me to do research outside the watchtower literature and just reading the Bible on its own. Now I’m fully awake and no longer a Jehovah’s Witness.

Great to hear a lot of believers don't understand the Bible correctly until they let go what ever we been taught before from main steam Christianity & read the whole bible without any world religion dogma. First we need to understand that the Bible was written by Hebrew Israelites for Hebrew Israelites. The first mentioned of the new covenant is Scripture is Jeremiah 31:31 the word new is Hebrew#2318 means to the RENEW, Repair & it repeats its self in Hebrews 8:8-10;10:16 it reads The HOUSE of ISRAEL & the HOUSE of JUDAH. We convert to that faith not the other way around. Exodus 12:49; Numbers 15:15-16; Isaiah 56:6; Matthew 2:6;10:6;15:24) Romans 9:4 The Truth faith/belief in Scripture is Acts 24:14; 2 Corinthians 11:22; Revelation 12:17;14:12;22:14)

Everyone believes in God. You claim to be atheists, but what you really are is someone who had never truly suffered. Let a doctor come up to you and tell you that you have cancer and 2 months left to live, and you'll be like "My God save me!" Or maybe your child dying in your arms or something in the extreme.
It isnt something I wish on anyone, but I've seen it one too many times.

God loves you and wants to have a relationship with you. He will never force you to be within his presence. If you want to be out of his presence he will allow that! That is what hell is - to be outside of God's presence.

That scripture means Jesus was the first to be resurrected, and the last to be rest by God directly since Jesus did the resurrecting after he was resurrected. Thats what Jesus meant and most JWs know this. Just because she didn’t have it on the tip of her tongue doesn’t mean she doesn’t have the truth.

That scripture means Jesus was the first to be resurrected by Jehovah, and the last that Jehovah resurrected because Jesus resurrected everyone after his raise to heaven. Im a JW… and I can back this with scriptures.

i believe that she does see, she's just in conflict with the truth and what she's been taught. praise God! The seeds were deeply planted with his readiness of the scriptures.
To be fair to JW's they are very devout and do study the bible thoroughly, there is just a few things in the doctrine that don't quite add up. Overall though I believe they love God and believe in Jesus the saviour and they will be okay at judgment day. I grew up in a JW family but sacked it off when I was about 15. I'm feeling spiritually connected again now at age 39, I just won't be going back to the JW's. Too cult like!

I was raised Jehovah's witness. Dad went into Islam, I followed as a child. I grew up and was 'atheiest' .then through addiction, abuse, trials , and tribulations I was a pagan. Then, praise God, at 33, I was baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
To expand, I had no idea until very recently that Jehovah's witnesses were even a cult. And that was my major upbringing as a youth. It's so wild. We only just started doing birthdays and holidays for my own children. I had no idea.
JESUS never claimed to be god in the bible.

It comes by familiarity with the Scriptures. Read them every day. My routine is to read 2 chapters OT (beginning with Genesis and working my way through Malachi, and then starting over); one Psalm, and one chapter NT (beginning with Matthew and working my way through the end, and starting back from Matthew again). Take notes of each verse that hints, or blatantly speaks of Christ's deity and that of the Holy Spirit. It comes through these practices.

Was a jw at 6, I did this door to door, and born again Christians slammed the door in my face. Years later people like this man pulled me out of the cult in the same kind of love and care to the Word, and my soul, that this man has so powerfully done. Thats the best way anyone can get them out of the cult, I escaped and even though I have a lot of anger towards the JWs I know that anger is best towards “the governing body” and to be angry at them would only prove their “everyone hates us and is out to get us doctrine” so we have to prove it wrong when the chance comes to us

Strong spirits of religion, critical, yes and etc tied to this and every cult and sadly 99 percent of the western churches (they have all missed it, can see once you read the Bible with Jesus and His Spirit). I'm a Cristian but very much ashamed to say my memory can't hold any scriptures. Just bits and ends. I wish with all my heart I can have the knowledge you have and the word to speak as you do. You are certainly a blessed man. ❤

Do not worry. I also have a difficult time memorizing scripture. I see this as a blessing. I have read the Bible from cover to cover 7 times and the only scripture I know by chapter and verse is John 3:16. I find comfort in this scripture.

Don't be ashamed. Some people have a knack for remembering quotes, verses, a joke verbatim. Actors who memorize long scripts. Sometimes it is a mental block, an anxiety that one can work on and pray for help with. Even so, if anyone is growing in their Walk, the Spirit will speak through you. Just don't be "very much ashamed"....unless you are lazy! LoL. ;-)
I have to Google what I'm talking about to get the verses to then go to Bible to read them.. many of us can't retain where the passages are in Bible.

Guess it just depends on the person I've known a couple of Jehovah's Witnesses and taking care of one in the nursing home for about 5 years before she passed and she was pretty level-headed woman

Calm, yes, purposely keep a calm attitude, or else it'd work against them and they know it, so do not be fooled by the mask of kindness. You can tell she did not like being confronted by the scriptures he brought up. If she was "open-minded" she would've expressed her doubt in the cult of Jehovah's False Witnesses and would've showed herself to be thinking about these verses, and then thank the Lord for using this man to show her the truth, which she's been misled from seeing for so long in the cult she's in. I am being blunt and it seems mean but it's true. Many people are haughty and proud, and don't actually care about truth but only care about winning an argument to seem superior.

Please tell me where is the boy ever referred to as God or Yahweh. The only reference to God is at the end where it says "Yahweh of hosts". In the Bible, "God of hosts" or "God of the armies" refers to God's army of angels or God's angelic force. This makes sense because angels are spirits and therefore, God as Himself is a spirit, uses spiritual force to accomplish His perfect work. You all have to do Bible study and not just read words.
He read, in passing, from Isaiah that God was the Creator; but he didn't draw the correlation between Jesus and the Father both being called the "Creator".

What seems impossible is possible with the true living God of the Bible. Our Father in Heaven will bring your husband to Jesus. Jesus will reveal Himself to your husband. I pray your husband receive the truth and the free gift of salvation when it's presented to him❤May you both be born again (John 3:3). I pray that mighty angels be sent to surround you both to help fight the spiritual warefare you will encounter. There is always victory in Christ. I plead the blood of Jesus over you both. I am atheist, but I think that you did a very good job pointing out where she was wrong and helping her see the right way to interpret the scripture that she was talking about.

This JW woman, I believe, was sincerely interested in learning what you were saying! She was no longer in teacher mode, she was in learning mode and asking questions!! This is absolutely incredible. Very well done how you showed her each verse like that! You are so well informed and confident and kind and pleasant by the way you speak.
And to be honest, you really helped me see that the Bible clearly states the deity of Jesus Christ! And this is exactly what I needed. Even though I have been a Christian for decades, you have made such a difference for me. I am very grateful to you! It helped me so much that you showed the verses on the screen and highlighted the specific words. This was so well done for someone like me who is very visual and has a hard time grasping things by hearing and reading. Since it took you awhile before you came to the understanding that Jesus is God, let’s make sure that you understand how we are saved.
I only say this because most self professing Christians are just that self professing and nothing more.
Do you ONLY trust in the Gospel we read in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, or have you believed that what you do or do not do somewhat plays a determining factor in if you are saved or not saved or kept saved.
If you believe any of that, than you are not saved, because you have believed a false gospel ‘see Galatians 1:8-9.
If you can honestly say that you only trust in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins and that your works play no part in if you are saved, then you are saved!
Our salvation is all about faith and not our works.

Unless we understand and believe the Gospel we read in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, what we believe concerning the rest of God’s Word really doesn’t even matter.

@@Reinaldo-mx4dzYVWH would not have sent “a god” with a lower case “g” down to Earth as some sort of ambassador or a lower deity because God commanded that there shall be no gods before him and that only he is the one true God, the creator of all that is. It only makes theological sense that God came down to us in human form, as he did in Genesis. As any sort of Christian, whether that be Catholic, Protestant, JW or Mormon, we understand that gods, or lower deities, are only called gods colloquially because they have nothing to do with the term God which by definition of the word God applies to that which created all material and immaterial existences. Angels and demons cannot create existences or life. The best pagan worships angels and the worst pagan worships demons. The gods of old were either pure mythology, humans who seemed to have great power who were mythologized, or literal angels, demons or the nephalim of the Old Testament. Jesus wouldn’t have been sent down as some lower level deity or god with a lower case “g” to minister to us, that just doesn’t square theologically with the character of God and his commandments. And if Jesus was an angel, where is the scripture to back this claim outside of the JW’s deliberate mistranslation of the original Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic manuscripts?
Years ago my husband, our oldest son and myself was new to our neighborhood.
JW kept coming to our door week after week. I just didn’t open the door. It was this one day my mom and I was coming from shopping and they actually pulled up in our driveway. 4 got out of the car … a man, two woman & a child. My mom told me she’ll handle it (my mom is a true Christian) since the age of 18, she has read and studied for years and has a relationship with Christ.
I walked away and came back (midway). She was talking to them about Christ, they was trying to tell her their religion and my mom would stomp them with Biblical statements from The Lord God. She told them about Christ and I haven’t seen them since.
This was about 11 yrs ago.

I want to educate you. The story of Joseph in the old testament points to who Jesus is in relation to God the Father. Gen 41:39 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you. 40 You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you.” Joseph became care taker with the power of a Pharaoh. 1 Cor 15:24 "Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For he “has put everything under his feet.”[c] Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. 28 When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all". Jesus, clearly, temporarily reign with the power of God (Col 1:19/fulness). But after everything is said and done, his reign ends and will be under (subjected) God. Does that sound Jesus is equal to the Father to you? Jesus like Joseph is a caretaker (of creation), once job is complete, reigns end!!! Read the bible.

Jesus referred to his disciples as his brethrens (brothers). Was he lying or was God lying? Of course not, for he is perfect. But we are not Gods brothers, so for Jesus to say that substantiates the fact that he had a mind of his own. And which is why Jehovah's witnesses pray to the Father, through Jesus Christ the Messiah (Messenger) thy King and Savior.(John 20 : 17, Matthew 12 : 48-50).

There are many different interpretations depending on which Christian Denomination you belong to, but I have found Jehovah's Witnesses to be the most accurate and well researched of them all. The most common is that of the Catholic teachings.
Now during the 3rd & 4th Century C.E the Roman Emperor Constantine had converted to Christianity because he had witnessed the Sun in a Shape of a Cross and searched for answers and found Christianity to be his chosen Religion. During his reign he included his Christian faith within his Political affairs. And he and the Nicaea Council inducted many philosophical teachings including the Trinitarian Doctrine, the Cross to symbolize and promote Christianity when the bible clearly states not to use Symbols or worship Idols(Idolatry), The Sabbath being on a Sunday instead of Saturday when the Bible mentions the Sabbath being on the 7th day of the week not the 1st (Exodus 16 : 25-30). And also Hell being a fiery place of Eternal Torment, when in fact the word "hell" is derived from the Hebrew word "Sheol" which means "resting place for all mankind" to await Gods judgement, And death being the penalty for sin not hell, so as to return to dust (Romans 6 : 7)(Ecclesiastes 3 : 20). Jesus being God when jesus himself said to Satan "It is God you must worship alone" (Matthew 4 : 10)(John 14 : 28). Emperor Constantine also wanted to promote Christianity to convert the people of Rome by including Pagan Holidays such as Christmas (Saturnalia) and Easter. Now you see, a lot of what has been taught around the world is the Beliefs of Constantine's Philosophies and his orders to change the System of Beliefs(Creeds) with the Nicaea Council were final, and the Bishops who opposed his beliefs had no say in it.
Before Constantine's ruler-ship During the 2nd siege of Jerusalem in the 1st Century C.E, the Israelite's(Gods true Followers) fled the city before Titus and his army had arrived(Luke 21 : 20-24). And the Israelite's had with them the Original Bible Manuscripts containing Gods Name, which is the four letter Hebrew word יהוה (Tetragrammaton) "YHWH" Yahweh, or Jehovah in English. The Pharisees(Rabbis) had destroyed all other copies of the Original Bible Manuscripts, and ordered Scribes to write new ones but replacing Gods name with "LORD". For example ISAIAH 42 : 8 says "I am LORD, your GOD". LORD is not a name, it is a TITLE. Due to the Pharisees implementing the "Fence Laws" they refused to Proclaim Gods name to the nations due to his name being tainted by blaspheme, as many would utter his name in use of magic pypris to perform exorcisms and spells ect.
You see what you have learnt today is mostly the Bible beliefs of the Roman Catholics, and being that most Christians have similar beliefs to Catholics its a majority rules. True Christian Teachings is not to follow the philosophical teachings of Man, such as the Trinitarian Doctrine. Where in the Bible is the word Trinity? Jehovah's witnesses pray to the Father through Jesus Christ the King and Savior. THAT MAKES SENSE! A lot of people would know that if they answered the door lol. Well read 1 John 5:7-8. These verses were not written by John and did not appear in any of the original Biblical Manuscripts until the 1600s. They were used to strengthen the doctrine of the Trinity, so were inserted in certain manuscripts (Stephens 1550 Textus Receptus & Scrivener 1894 Textus Receptus) from dubious sources. THEY DO NOT APPEAR IN EARLIER MANUSCRIPTS including the ancient Greek translation.
Most Christians do not really know more about the Bible than is taught at church, and many only read devotionally. Without truly studying the text as well, so for many the fact is the KJV and other similar bible versions are not wholly in agreement with the ancient texts.

I was raised JW and not allowed to read any other religious material and out of all the Christians whose doors I knocked on, I can count my hands how many actually knew their Bible enough and engaged with us to try to show us something.
I didn't even know Christians had testimonies until after God fully woke me up and I was no longer afraid of watching Christian content.
There was one guy one time whose door we went to who said God told him to stop smoking. That was the extent of my Christian testimony experience, although I'd never heard that phrase.
I didn't know there were people outside of our religion who had prayers answered. I had no clue.
And I didn't know Biblically what the Gospel was/is.
Sadly, we knew enough out of context verses that we could talk circles around most believers, without them being able to adequately defend their beliefs from Scripture.
Or someone might use John 1:1 occasionally but the 'God' vs 'a god' argument is not typically going to be effective for a JW.
I never knew there were other verses calling Jesus God until after I started waking up and my husband showed me.

Wow, you handled this sooooooo well. Your patience is incredible and you presented the truth in simple, easy to understand terms.
One of the things that drives me crazy about conversations with JW's or Mormons (or a lot of other groups) is they CONSTANTLY change the subject, or want to skip to another verse. So you, patiently, show them, "Here is where Jesus uses the same title as Jehovah in Revelation" and then they say, "Well, what about this verse?" Then you patiently explain that one, then they go, "Yeah, but what about this verse?" They rip those statements out of context and REFUSE to stay on one verse and read what it says in context.

I've been slowly reading kjv bible for 1year and 4 months. Alittle every single day. Its a hard read. But im only at end of Jeremiah. Lol. But I read it out loud i speak the words. It keeps me concentrated. Its changed my whole life. I think about God all day long. I only want to listen to Christian music rap country etc. I barely cuss. And I wasn't trying to change. Lol. As an ex jw we are taught to just read and follow what we are told by that organization anything else outside is always “symbolic” I started realizing that when reading from the Bible itself so clear and very direct passages that “oh no that’s not what it meant, it’s metaphor” I feel sorry for them today they are so confused
That is control. If they can convince you they have the true meaning then you will not question or find answers on your own. Such mind control it's scary. There are other religions that use the same control methods. My question is why can't people simply go to the Bible and find answers. If your religion is not using the King James Bible then you are following the wrong religion. The other translations are not correct in the Word of God. They loose meaning in the translation.

The Bible has abundant proof that Jesus is God no less than God, the Father. I think that we humans have a problem in understanding or in trying to understand the mystery of three co- eternal Beings. Some of us accept Jesus as God. And beside him, there is no other. Then there are others of us who believe as the Muslims do that God has no partner. Still, there are others of us who have a problem with a third Being i.e., the Holy Spirit.
But I wonder why Jesus himself in giving the great commission mentioned three Beings i.e. Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God does not stoop to explain all the nitty-gritty so to speak of the Godhead. Micah chapter 5 verse two speaks about one whose going forth was from everlasting, in reference to the birth of Jesus. And in the book of Acts in the New Testament, we have references of the work and words of the Holy Spirit. That’s enough for me. Jesus is coming again, and I want to be ready so that I would see that my God indeed cannot lie as He says.

I just had 2 JWs come over and talk after a few times of them stopping by. First time they came I let them speak and ask me questions and I didn’t interject. The second time they came I told them that this time I was going to speak and they’re going to answer my questions. In short I did the same thing of reasoning in scripture the deity of Christ USING THEIR BIBLE and I SPOKE WITH THEM FOR 8 HOURS and they sat there and listened and I could just see the gears turning in their head. There are many different interpretations depending on which Christian Denomination you belong to, but I have found Jehovah's Witnesses to be the most accurate and well researched of them all.
The most common is that of the Catholic teachings. Now during the 3rd & 4th Century C.E the Roman Emperor Constantine had converted to Christianity because he had witnessed the Sun in a Shape of a Cross and searched for answers and found Christianity to be his chosen Religion. During his reign he included his Christian faith within his Political affairs. And he and the Nicaea Council inducted many philosophical teachings including the Trinitarian Doctrine, the Cross to symbolize and promote Christianity when the bible clearly states not to use Symbols or worship Idols(Idolatry), The Sabbath being on a Sunday instead of Saturday when the Bible mentions the Sabbath being on the 7th day of the week not the 1st (Exodus 16 : 25-30). And also Hell being a fiery place of Eternal Torment, when in fact the word "hell" is derived from the Hebrew word "Sheol" which means "resting place for all mankind" to await Gods judgement, And death being the penalty for sin not hell, so as to return to dust (Romans 6 : 7)(Ecclesiastes 3 : 20). Jesus being God when jesus himself said to Satan "It is God you must worship alone" (Matthew 4 : 10)(John 14 : 28).
Emperor Constantine also wanted to promote Christianity to convert the people of Rome by including Pagan Holidays such as Christmas (Saturnalia) and Easter. Now you see, a lot of what has been taught around the world is the Beliefs of Constantine's Philosophies and his orders to change the System of Beliefs(Creeds) with the Nicaea Council were final, and the Bishops who opposed his beliefs had no say in it. Before Constantine's ruler-ship During the 2nd siege of Jerusalem in the 1st Century C.E, the Israelite's(Gods true Followers) fled the city before Titus and his army had arrived(Luke 21 : 20-24). And the Israelite's had with them the Original Bible Manuscripts containing Gods Name, which is the four letter Hebrew word יהוה (Tetragrammaton) "YHWH" Yahweh, or Jehovah in English. The Pharisees(Rabbis) had destroyed all other copies of the Original Bible Manuscripts, and ordered Scribes to write new ones but replacing Gods name with "LORD". For example ISAIAH 42 : 8 says "I am LORD, your GOD". LORD is not a name, it is a TITLE. Due to the Pharisees implementing the "Fence Laws" they refused to Proclaim Gods name to the nations due to his name being tainted by blaspheme, as many would utter his name in use of magic pypris to perform exorcisms and spells ect.
You see what you have learnt today is mostly the Bible beliefs of the Roman Catholics, and being that most Christians have similar beliefs to Catholics its a majority rules. True Christian Teachings is not to follow the philosophical teachings of Man, such as the Trinitarian Doctrine. Where in the Bible is the word Trinity. The context of "first and last" is very clear. YAHWEH is comparing himself to false gods. He was there before them and he will be there after them.
Now the question is: Is this the same way the "first and the last" is applied to Jesus in Revelation 1:17,18?
Lets read it this time with context: "When I saw him, I fell as dead at his feet.
And he laid his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last, 18 and the living one, and I BECAME DEAD but look! I am living forever and ever, and I have the keys of death and of the Grave."
verse 18 helps us understand the context of what John meant by the "first and the last", but let's look futher into the NT to help us understand this Meaning applied to Jesus
Acts 26:23 " that the Christ was to suffer and that as the FIRST TO BE RESURRECTED FROM THE DEAD, he was going to proclaim light both to this people and to the nations.”
Colossians 1:18 "and he is the head of the body, the congregation. He is the BEGINNING, the FIRSTBORN FROM THE DEAD, so that he might become the one who is FIRST in all things;
And reading from the same chapter in Revelation 1:5 and from Jesus Christ, “the Faithful Witness,” “THE FIRSTBORN FROM THE DEAD,” and “the Ruler of the kings of the earth.”
REVELATION 2:8 “And to the angel of the congregation in Smyrʹna write: These are the things that he says, ‘THE FIRST AND THE LAST,’ WHO BECAME DEAD AND CAME TO LIFE AGAIN"
Now do you see the context! The "first and last" has nothing to do with other false gods, like the ones mentioned in Isaiah 44. The First and Last has to do with Christ's Death.

The poor redhead😅 I was at a door just like she was, listening, and that's what started the process of me waking up! Nowadays after the deity of Christ, I know to bring up the 2 classes of Christians false teaching and the gospel message, and time permitting, the wise and faithful steward PARABLE. 🎉
These precious women mean well and are so sincere. Jehovah’s Witnesses need prayer, our patience and guidance. This is why Christians must study and memorize key verses so we can be prepared to help others to understand. It’s heartbreaking to know they, though they are hungry for God, nestled into the wrong place. I was raised Catholic. 50 years ago, I knew there are big problems there, so I was searching. Two, sweet JW (my age then 22) rang my doorbell. I befriended them, studied with them for a long time, still searching and yet in the Catholic Church. Only through a lot of my own Bible studies and asking Holy Spirit to guide me did I drop both and find true Christianity.
Return to the catholic church. Even with any problem it has, it is Gods church that he founded and he will fix any issues that exist in it. I was raised a Jehovah’s witness and thank God he helped me escape so i can become a catholic! If you were born into it already you were given a great gift don’t let it be in vain. Don’t let Jesus’s death for you be in vain.

@@GabrielPantaleon858Catholicism is 90% false doctrine. How can you say it is God's church? It is RIFE with corruption and sin. The people are in darkness because they teach a false gospel that is completely antithetical to the real gospel. It teaches that Christ's death on the cross was not enough and that you need good works salvation, even though the Bible teaches God's grace is UNCONDITIONAL and salvation is NOT BY WORKS,and even though Jesus on the cross said IT IS FINISHED which means PAID IN FULL and even though Hebrews says Christ died ONCE FOR ALL. Satan has changed the truth of God's word into a lie through that church and it in no way is God's church. Just men stealing the authority of God for themselves, meaning, their word holds as much authority as the inspired Scriptures, which is blasphemy.

Go to a Bible church! I believe non denominational is the way to go! This is all about a relationship between us and Jesus Christ, not us, church, and Jesus. The church is important but we don’t need opinions, this is why I think Bible churches are good, they will give context to the verses and an explanation of the verses through the context ONLY. I don’t understand why all these separate denominations have so many opinions. Believe the word and the word only.
