Merci beaucoup 👍🏼
Sick. Just plain sick. I’m a new drummer (at 55 😮) and am amazed when someone with your talent lays it down osoooooooooo smooth. Dude, thank you for sharing and teaching.
This is what I have been looking for all of my life. I mean I have to practice it now, but it has the dynamics and that triple sound that makes me go "YEAH!"
I love that way of sticking and counting as blocks. It s mode, effective. I m glad that we have access to all those lessons nowadays. I ve been playing drums for 10 years when I was younger. I m 41 years old and got myself an EFnote 5X like 3 months ago after 20 years without playing. Put my self in hard training since then with practicing rudiments and that kind of lessons. I m a better drummer now than when I quit drumming 20 years ago! That s awesome. Thanks so much for giving us that precious knowledge. Greetings from Belgium.
Wow Mike you nailed right where I am in my drumming. I have a lot of wonderful chunks and I have been practicing them diligently, now it is time to start putting them together. Of course, I see how this applies in both the chunks of Rlk, krL and as in my case, the chunks of paradiddles, swiss flams, train beat, and crisp doubles. I found this a timely lesson, and as always Mike you bring the benefits in each video you share. Thank you for your consistent encouragement and simple instruction.
I'v been playing for 18 years and just played along to songs, Id say fairly well....this video made me believe I was teachable. I never really cared to be taught. I watch a lot of drumming videos, thinking, meh, I play well enough. This way of teaching, IMO, has been the most helpful. Love the "blocks" So much easier for me to break it down. I believe I can take this to the kit. Thanks again!
I feel pretty comfortable practicing these fills :) But breaking them down, changing tempos, etc, really gives me pause and makes me think about what I’m doing. Like you commented that this was less about the triplet and more about the arranging, phrasing, and moving the sequences around the kit. Thanks for this.
Thank you very much Mike for sharing this lesson. I´m a drummer since I was born (60 now) love the instrument so much. Never could see this exercise so clear till now. I´ve heard this fills since allways but never could play them because, at last, I didn´t know well how they worked. Now I must practice and sure I´ll be playing them in every fill they fit!!!! Thank you from Buenos Aires.
I think you just decoded the secret to Eric Moore's blistering triplet fills! Also love how you teach and break down these concepts so clearly and enthused. 👏
Much appreciated. The truth is that this stuff is ALL credit to Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Jack DeJohnette, etc. I'm just trying to bring something new to the delivery of the information. 🍵🙏🍵🙏
Mike, the way you teach these things is just super engaging and fun. Literally 2 minutes into the video and I paused it to go and jump on my kit and practice. Thank you.
I've played professionally for many years and taught in two music stores, and I can say without a doubt, you are the best drum instructor out there! I've printed off a number of the charts from the lessons you've taught and worked them up to speed. Too much fun!
Mike, the best drum teacher! 🥁♥️🎶 His instructions are cut in to manageable segments, which I find key to muscle memory, especially linear dynamics. I just received my 15" extra dry medium hi-hats yesterday. I have been having a 3 hour affair with these babies...Comon!!🤗 Mike teaches so your creativity can develop, which is what fits with so many grooves.😎🤘
Just love your channel !! you always bring a concept/tool/method (not even sure how to name it). but every single time, it opens up my 'vocabulary' and brings my practices to a new level - and so much more fun !! thanks again Mike
Been practicing this and hit my first triplet drum fill (somewhat) smoothly in a groove. I didn't realize this is what I've been missing in my fills until I felt it connect! Thank you!
Mikey! Heck yeah Perfect timing- my band is all of a sudden adding several Zepplin tunes to our set and as we speak working on Bonham triplets- you’re a life saver buddy -
I AM going to follow you ,Watching this at work , ( Don't tell anyone. ) LOVE you're enthusiasm . Love that as you're Playing these awesome fills the joy comes out. Come on Now!!
Thanks Mike! I've been trying to figure these out for awhile. I know it when I hear them and these fills always fascinate me. This is the "secret" I've been waiting for!
Clear, concise teaching style. Great attitude. Obvious love for the instrument. I subscribed before i even finished this first video, and that's why. Thanks man.
This is killer! With the paradiddle construct, you can create even more with these two patterns!! Like: LRLL 😮 RRLR 😅 LLRL😂 ...and so forth! 😊 Thanks, duder! I have a TON of homework to do with your blueprint - 🤘🥁
The AB blocks makes me think of how Phil Collins with Genesis used that method to remember the structure of a song thus ; A = Verse B = Chorus C = Bridge . It’s how they came up with the song title “ ABACAB “ . Just a fun fact that ties in with your teaching. 😎Thanks Mike.
Hey Mike, just found you today. Excellent lesson and your excitement and energy are fantastic! Just subscribed and liked the vid. Looking forward to learning with you!
Such a great teachers on many levels ( including the all / important joyful ness ) . Thank you sir !! Hmmm thus lesson definitely reminds me of Mike’s great ‘ Linear Fills ‘ book , which I proudly own and highly recommended. And gotta say …, I’m getting closer ! - I spent 3 hours yesterday cleaning out the man cave ,, I figured another 5 or 6 hours and then I’ll be ready to subscribe to Mikes lessons and …. 😃😊😌 Thanks for all you do
Love this concept and always need growth in the 8th n 16th note Triplets! Definitely will try it with 16th notes as well. Thanks Mike for the time, and effort you put into this stuff to help us grow as drummers! 🙏🥁🍵❤
Thank you for sharing your secret. I feel aspired as a drummer after watching some of your videos. By the way, I love your studio, the lighting set-up is perfect in the video.
damn it must've been 10 years since the last time i binged your content and it's still as inspiring and high-quality as before. defineitely inspires me to get back on the kit and keep chasing that ideal. ☮mike! ✌🏽
Oh how I wish UA-cam would have been around way back when I first started playing. Back then if you heard a song with a really good drum part, we would have to go buy the album to learn it. But now....just find it on UA-cam free of charge
Wow this is great! Except it might get me fired. I just spent 2 hours with it when I was supposed to be working. Oops. My fav so far is ABAABBAB. Thanks Mike!
Getting back into drumming after a 30 year break and this channel is amazing! Thanks Mike. :))

Ditto

Happy to help Cody!
Total badass. Love the fluidity over the Bonham style core. Wish I could play like this.

This is amazing. I notice some Ted Reed type phrasing but this is executed brilliantly; takes it to a new level.
I just stumbled onto this lesson. Mike, Thank you, thank you…. Been drumming for years, always looking for new fills. This is awesome. I’ll be back…
Just love your channel !! you always bring a concept/tool/method (not even sure how to name it). but every single time, it opens up my 'vocabulary' and brings my practices to a new level - and so much more fun !! thanks again Mike

“Joanna Shiplap Gaines” that was fantastic!
You caught that? Well done. You can see the matte black shiplap behind me as a nod to her. She is one of my biggest idols.
