- Well, maybe it's not much of a secret because I've taught this in my camps, on my site and in clinics BUT... each time I teach it it's slightly different, and I REALLY hope this concept clicks for you! - Enjoy

Mike's truly the best. So simple, yet so deep
Mike appreciates your comment, lol. Seriously though, THANKS a ton Dany!
I think you just decoded the secret to Eric Moore's blistering triplet fills!
Also love how you teach and break down these concepts so clearly and enthused. 👏
Much appreciated. The truth is that this stuff is ALL credit to Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Jack DeJohnette, etc. I'm just trying to bring something new to the delivery of the information. 🍵🙏🍵🙏
Sick. Just plain sick. I’m a new drummer (at 55 😮) and am amazed when someone with your talent lays it down osoooooooooo smooth. Dude, thank you for sharing and teaching.
Welcome to drumming, vato.
This is what I have been looking for all of my life. I mean I have to practice it now, but it has the dynamics and that triple sound that makes me go "YEAH!"
So good, so helpful. Can't wait to get on the kit tomorrow and work on this. Thanks, Mike!
One of the truly great drum instructors of our time-
Thanks Mike-
Great lesson
Mike, the way you teach these things is just super engaging and fun. Literally 2 minutes into the video and I paused it to go and jump on my kit and practice. Thank you.
Just love your channel !! you always bring a concept/tool/method (not even sure how to name it). but every single time, it opens up my 'vocabulary' and brings my practices to a new level - and so much more fun !! thanks again Mike
dude been folowing you for about a decade now. cant get enough, such a good way to teach new concepts, it never fails. thank you!
Wow Mike you nailed right where I am in my drumming. I have a lot of wonderful chunks and I have been practicing them diligently, now it is time to start putting them together. Of course, I see how this applies in both the chunks of Rlk, krL and as in my case, the chunks of paradiddles, swiss flams, train beat, and crisp doubles. I found this a timely lesson, and as always Mike you bring the benefits in each video you share. Thank you for your consistent encouragement and simple instruction.
Can't wait to work on this! Another awesome lesson Mike!
Thanks Mike. I love your lessons and energy
Wonderful, and what a beautiful sounding drum kit!
I love that way of sticking and counting as blocks. It s mode, effective. I m glad that we have access to all those lessons nowadays. I ve been playing drums for 10 years when I was younger. I m 41 years old and got myself an EFnote 5X like 3 months ago after 20 years without playing. Put my self in hard training since then with practicing rudiments and that kind of lessons. I m a better drummer now than when I quit drumming 20 years ago! That s awesome. Thanks so much for giving us that precious knowledge. Greetings from Belgium.
Joana "shiplap" Gaines is one of the funniest expletives' I've ever heard
WOW this is amazing I can't wait to try this out, THANKS MIKE!!!
Love your drumming, Mike. How you express yourself on the drums, and how you explain ideas/concepts is great.
Ditto
Damn. Finally, one of the simplest breakdowns of something I’ve been trying to work on. Thanks, Mike. This is just awesome 🤘🏼
The BEST INSTRUCTION I’VE EVER HEARD! Literally
Thank you
Hey Mike, just found you today. Excellent lesson and your excitement and energy are fantastic! Just subscribed and liked the vid. Looking forward to learning with you!
Love this. Very helpful stuff, Mike!
Clear, concise teaching style. Great attitude. Obvious love for the instrument. I subscribed before i even finished this first video, and that's why. Thanks man.
Thanks Mike! I've been trying to figure these out for awhile. I know it when I hear them and these fills always fascinate me. This is the "secret" I've been waiting for!
Fantastic lesson Mike. Full of education and inspiration - as usual.
Total badass. Love the fluidity over the Bonham style core. Wish I could play like this.
Mikes work is GOLD.
I love the way you teach.
Mike, the best drum teacher! 🥁♥️🎶 His instructions are cut in to manageable segments, which I find key to muscle memory, especially linear dynamics. I just received my 15" extra dry medium hi-hats yesterday. I have been having a 3 hour affair with these babies...Comon!!🤗 Mike teaches so your creativity can develop, which is what fits with so many grooves.😎🤘
Great lesson! Amazing building blocks to unlocking your own creativity
One of the greatest drum lessons I’ve seen. Thanks Mike!
This is amazing. I notice some Ted Reed type phrasing but this is executed brilliantly; takes it to a new level.
I love this, great lesson!
I feel pretty comfortable practicing these fills :) But breaking them down, changing tempos, etc, really gives me pause and makes me think about what I’m doing.
Like you commented that this was less about the triplet and more about the arranging, phrasing, and moving the sequences around the kit. Thanks for this.
Happy to help Cody!
Love this guy.... So smooth and cool. 👌
As always, fantastic content!
I follow you since day one , never get tired watching your vids you born to do that , that’s it ,cheers from Hamburg
That will get me out of a rut for a while. Thanks Mike!!!
Thank you so much Mike for this great free context..u r a great inspiration for drum lovers!! 👍💪
GREAT STUFF MIKE THANK YOU
Wow, great tips. Thanks.
I'v been playing for 18 years and just played along to songs, Id say fairly well....this video made me believe I was teachable. I never really cared to be taught. I watch a lot of drumming videos, thinking, meh, I play well enough.
This way of teaching, IMO, has been the most helpful. Love the "blocks" So much easier for me to break it down. I believe I can take this to the kit. Thanks again!
So cool mike💯 Thank you!
Hey Mike, thanks again for this video. These have helped progress my playing quite a bit. Love the content and the breakdown, cheers!
I've played professionally for many years and taught in two music stores, and I can say without a doubt, you are the best drum instructor out there! I've printed off a number of the charts from the lessons you've taught and worked them up to speed. Too much fun!
Great video! Thank you!
Thank you very much Mike for sharing this lesson. I´m a drummer since I was born (60 now) love the instrument so much. Never could see this exercise so clear till now. I´ve heard this fills since allways but never could play them because, at last, I didn´t know well how they worked. Now I must practice and sure I´ll be playing them in every fill they fit!!!! Thank you from Buenos Aires.
This was really helpful, thanks!
Thanks for sharing this, this is really helpful, I had no idea of all the possibility’s
Been practicing this and hit my first triplet drum fill (somewhat) smoothly in a groove. I didn't realize this is what I've been missing in my fills until I felt it connect! Thank you!
Love this lesson, Mike, thanks! I was a 14 year old trying to figure out what heck John Bonham was doing and absolutely not getting it- at all. I met a drum teacher at the local music store, every town had one in those days, he chuckled and showed how simple, yet effective, triplet fills are. He then made buy a copy of "Adventures in Time" by Dave Brubeck and Joe Morello became my new idol!
I just stumbled onto this lesson. Mike, Thank you, thank you…. Been drumming for years, always looking for new fills. This is awesome. I’ll be back…
Merci beaucoup 👍🏼
Mikey! Heck yeah
Perfect timing- my band is all of a sudden adding several Zepplin tunes to our set and as we speak working on Bonham triplets- you’re a life saver buddy -
Thats great!! Thanks
I AM going to follow you ,Watching this at work , ( Don't tell anyone. ) LOVE you're enthusiasm . Love that as you're Playing these awesome fills the joy comes out. Come on Now!!
C'mon Now! LOL. Much appreciated Victor :)
Very good - lovin' it.
Good ideas to work on - I like your style you have a very relaxed sound good work sounds good
Nice lesson!
Never thought about ghosting a snare… this makes it so much easier and mich better sounding.. thanks! 🙌🏼
Always an inspiration Mike. Right, time to go practice!
You’re very welcome my friend. Enjoy the practice!!!
“Joanna Shiplap Gaines” that was fantastic!
You caught that? Well done. You can see the matte black shiplap behind me as a nod to her. She is one of my biggest idols.
@@mikeslessons I had to scrub back to catch it and immediately looked at your wall!
Pure gold!
Love this concept and always need growth in the 8th n 16th note Triplets! Definitely will try it with 16th notes as well. Thanks Mike for the time, and effort you put into this stuff to help us grow as drummers! 🙏🥁🍵❤
Anytime my friend! I got your back :)
The AB blocks makes me think of how Phil Collins with Genesis used that method to remember the structure of a song thus ; A = Verse B = Chorus C = Bridge . It’s how they came up with the song title “ ABACAB “ . Just a fun fact that ties in with your teaching. 😎Thanks Mike.
100%
Woww Awesomeness so glad I found this site. Thank you ❤
That's frickin' brilliant! No, I can't DO it, but in time... Thanks for the inspiration and information!
Gold. Thank you!!

Too good 👍🏻
Great lesson as always Mike!
Doing the blocks separately is one thing. But glue them together in a random order is another solar system for me 😖
cool and very amazing Mike....you r a good trainer I guess.
Doing my best, lol
Thanks!
You are very welcome Lukasz
Thats's the level you have to reach to be called a certified drummer ! Well done !
That laugh when he knows how good it is haha

This is killer!
With the paradiddle construct, you can create even more with these two patterns!!

LOL! Well done. That actually made me laugh.
What ride is that? That thing sounds insane!!
Great concept! The same goes with 16th notes combinations, ala RLLF - FRRL.
